Guard Patrol issue (Solved)
So I've seen a trap before where guards walk forwards, fall through a lava cube which kills them and then they explode with the mod. Was going to try and incorporate this but I can't for the life of me figure out how to make it work. For some reason every time I try to record the guard route and move them through a lava cube they instantly die and it boots me from the patrol before I can save it. Was this patched out of the game and I'm just missing it in the notes?
Edit: Solution provided by a poster thanks for the help. If any wish to know it's simply when the mob falls 3+ blocks it boots you from the patrol recording making it unable to finish.

Try blocking the path with Masquerade and/or Second wave Holo cubes.

An easy fix I've found is to place the cube next to an incline plane. Path the guard to the very edge of the incline. Because guards always stand upright they will lean into the cube.

I have done that, the issue is the idea is to have them path off an edge and fall through a cube down below like a drop bomb (sequencing them out with several so you get a random drop effect) so when trying to sequence the path the second it goes through the cube it instantly boots me out. Looking at videos of others doing this it didn't seem to used to do that.

Interesting I'll see if that works, they're a bit to high to aggro so maybe I'll just have to make a higher tower as the goal is to have them fall at different rates. Been pouring over patch notes but can't seem to find anywhere where the pathing system was changed to cancel out when the mob dies during pathing, so either they stealth fixed it or I'm just getting some really frustrating bug.

I've never tried the vile, dirty tactics you're working on, so dunno if I can help. :P
But in my experience, the guard has to survive the fall in order for the patrol to be complete.
They can survive a fall of two blocks. If you make them fall three blocks, they "would die" and the game stops recording your patrol route.
This condition must be true even if you're dropping them through a hollow block on second wave that would be solid on first wave. You would have them survive the fall through the cube in order to record the patrol. Then the guard will be able to complete that patrol when your cube goes hollow on 2nd wave.

Interesting just tried it and that solved some of it, the guard does fall down two blocks and survive but if he passes through a lava cube (even one on second wave) it greys out the complete path button (assuming because he dies). Its odd because Iv'e seen this exact "kind" of trap and just can't seem to get it to work right.
Edit: NVM it looks like you can't hit "complete patrol" but you can hit stand guard which, since the mob dies, pretty much works just fine.

What do you mean it boots you out? Does your game crash?

I meant as in you're in control of the guards patrol route then it kicks you out of the patrol route and back into regular build mode. Above poster explained its when a guard falls 3 or more blocks this occurs.

Oh yeah, that. But the route still works.

If they fall more than 3 blocks it doesn't work, both options to end the path are greyed out before you hit the ground and let you pick neither and when it boots you it hasn't recorded any of the movement because it didn't let you close it out with stand ground or end route ergo it's as if you never started recording it.

in order for the route to be valid you must hit "stand guard" or "finish patrol" falling 3 blocks ejects you from the patrol setting interface before you have these options. that is what he is saying.

I´ve seen guards fall to death. So... uhm, have you tested it even when you get the error?

you can set a route with a block that makes it a 2 height fall, then remove the block and the pre-existing route will execute.
