Phoenix Pod bug/glitch with Flash Barrier that makes it not get destroyed after taking the Genmat.
I could replicate it always, and what they did was: was to place a shield, then throw a Phoenix Pod over it, in a way that it doesn't get positioned but "floats" over the shield close to the wall, and get the Genmat before the timer runs out. This allows to escape most second phase bases with just 1 death. I tried it and it ALWAYS works, as long as the Phoenix Pod does get positioned after taking the Genmat.

Wow! Cool tech! This adds a lot of depth to the speedrunning community! I'm glad the developers thought to add something this intricate for the players to discover in the game.

It's not a tech, it's a bug/glitch.

a deployed pod will be destroyed by touching genmat, the pod isn't deployed. that's not a bug, it's interacting with the shield and the wall as intended. maybe it hovering for the full duration wasn't the intent but it isn't a bug. it isn't supposed to pass through the shield, or the wall, or deploy in mid-air. it's supposed to deploy on the ground.
