Does that matter though? If so an update on the dedicated servers to console progress would be nice.

The dedicated servers are necessary for the new DC penalty system to be implemented, because it relies on the unique function of the servers for tracking purposes. The way the new system tracks disconnections is impossible to replicate on a peer-to-peer connection.

As for the servers themselves, the devs are probably unable to give a date for when they will arrive on consoles because it depends entirely on how the testing which is currently underway on PC goes. Once the servers are considered in working order and no longer require constant updates and tweaks, then I expect they will be rolled out to all platforms. Expect an official announcement when that happens.

It's difficult for them to give updates before that point, because it's hard to predict what changes need to be made and how long it will take to implement them satisfactorily. They've tried to give estimates as to when the servers will be ready in the past, and every time something has come up and large portions of the community have been disappointed while others have gone so far as to call the devs liars, so I wouldn't blame them if they're being intentionally silent, not to keep the community in the dark, but to try to avoid that kind of thing happening again.
