It's games like this that keep me going
Playing killer as Legion and in the lobby I noticed all 4 survivors with flashlights (circled as above, their names removed). I assumed a 3/4 man SWF as this was, let's just say coincidental a flashlight squad. So a few thoughts went through my head; yes I suppose I could lobby dodge, but flashlights are more manageable compared to keys or sabo sqauds. I could use overcharge to deplete the flashlights, franklins to make them drop them or the choice I went for...Lightborn.
I'd only ever used it for the tome challenge, overall I'd say I'm very good at evading flashlights. That being said evading 4 would be tricky even for the best players plus why deprive me of some fun? I just had a feeling they weren't all gonna be Red or even purple (and I was right). And even if just for the laughs at the beginning of the game wouldn't it be worth it to see all the clicky clickys have no effect whatsoever? See if they can work it out? Let's remove this advantage and see how good they really are...
So the game begins at McMillans, i spawn near shack and absolutely desperate to spot one to watch them fail clicky clicky. It went even better than I ever could have dreamed.
About 30 seconds in i spot one and a notification goes off in the basement. One has (rather obviously) hid in the locker. Bear in mind all but one played birthday cake for 100% bonus. I know which locker (scratches give it away) and at first I attempt to bait any potential Head On (nothing). So just to remind we are in the basement so I locker grab and... suprise suprise behind me I hear a flashlight go off. This is just to good. To I walk up and smack the flashlight survivor (they must have been so confused as to why it wasn't working). The one I grabbed from the locker got hooked. A very quick chase with the one who attempted the flashlight and then basement notification the survivor has been rescued. I chase the survivor who also went to the basement (presumably hook bomb) to find ALL 4 there flashlights clicky clicky then turned on me and this all resulted in...
NOTHING...
Because this legion had lightborn and wasn't an idiot.
Like bats out of hell they flew out the basement realising flashlight squad today was not to be.
For the rest of the match, no flashlight saves or attempts. 2 of them tried to blind me (rank 16 definitely and presumably the 11 but I could be wrong) more out of desperation as opposed to expectation.
Now despite what could have been seen as toxic as playing 4 flashlights and that basement attempt of a flashlight save (in a way clever but incredibly risky), they were very respectful survivors, no t-bagging or arrogant plays (although as you can see , nothing to t-bag about) so I tried my best to play with respect as well - to be perfectly honest I was far too amused about the whole situation to even be bothered. Shout out to the rank 2 who unfortunately got 1 hooked at the end - last teammate was downed. She looped very well and tried to stay in position when possible. The rest was substandard looping and positioning, other survivors got 3 hooked each with no tunnelling.
Was it toxic? Without Lightborn it could have been or if a rank 20 killer. I think it was 4 mates of very different skill levels messing about. Although their offerings could suggest otherwise.
After the basement i knew the game was won - the rank 2 aside the rest were rattled, their safety net gone, they'd be no flashlight saves so if you're down you were at my mercy. Plus I was legion against players yet to master looping- no one can hide with my frenzy!!! It played out as expected, constant hooks etc. They've probably learned a valuable lesson- you can't change killer in lobby but you can change the build. Plus they clearly didn't expect legion with Lightborn.
In conclusion, what should have been the most fun game for them (probably not the killer they would play against though) turned out to be the most fun and humorous killer game I have played in a long long time.
I would love to know what was going through their heads at that basement when they all turned the flashlights on me...
