I could not disagree with you more. In order to pip and rank up you have to do a pretty decent amount of actions,,, proper hook saves, healing, totems, running killer. If you just play the game and hide around the edges of the map that is playtime but will get you nowhere. However, in the obverse I cant tell you how many matches I have played where I did all of these things and either stayed the same pip/rank level or actually lost something. So your guess is as good as mine lol.

The pip system is the most confusing part of the game if I’m being honest. Sometimes I do horrible and I’m positive I’m going to lose one but nope here’s a pip because I guess I got chased a long time.

I can only speak about the survivor side since that's all I play, but reaching red ranks as a survivor simply requires understanding how the rank system works. I can do the things I need to do in about 95% of my matches to ensure I pip. I can at least ensure I don't depip.

The thing is playing for rank isn't the same thing as playing to escape. I may do something counterproductive to escaping if I need points in a certain category to ensure I gain that all important pip.

That's not to say there aren't good survivors and teammates in red ranks. However, there are plenty of red rank survivors that appear to be playing brainless when I'm actuality they are simply playing for that pip and they don't care about anything else.

you know.... i really wonder where all the gen rushing survivors and camping/tunneling/slugging killers will end up once MMR goes active...

I know I have thrown this out there a lot. But my buddy just got the game and is a rank 3 survivor running technician. Because, yes he still misses skill checks. He was red ranks in like 2 weeks of playing the game. Ranking up in this game is silly.

"You don't need brains to hit red ranks."

    ----

As evidenced by the purple rank survivors in my matches whom have never seen No Mither before. They try to heal me at the start, and they try to pick me up off the ground (the killer has Sloppy Butcher; I recover faster than you heal... smh)

Edit: Just finished a match where TWO survivors came into the basement and tried to revive me while dodging the killer... FFS

B-b-but... the survivors only have sixTEEN seconds to unhook, not sixTY...

Honestly, it comes down to first-come first-serve for unhook points. This is why points should be negatively affected for unsafe unhooks, or at least some punishment that is more palpable and isn't buried in the details of 1 of 4 emblems on 1 of 5 or 6 pages of end-game details.

    They won't go anywhere.

If they feel any drastic change in their matchups then they will simply cry that the Skill-Based Matchmaking is broken and the devs will disable it again.

That is very true. Put on slow down and aura perks and any killer will hit rank 1 in no time.

It is much harder to derank than to rank up. You can get to red ranks while trying not to. I try to derank before prestiging a character and it is near impossible to do. But double pipping is super simple if you just play well.

You really don't, it's why I can't wait for mmr to come back. I finally had survivors that were worth a damn so I actually bothered to save someone knowing that they'd last more than 5 seconds before going down again.

M1 on Gen enough give you iri Object, M1 on survivor & hook give you iri Altruism. If team mate good in chase, you get iri Survival.

The only thing requires skill is Boldness.

Nowhere, because camping, slugging, and tunneling relies on Survivors feeding Killers.

And gen rushing is...just playing optimally. It's doing your objective as quickly as possible. 🤷

It does take a lot of butt-clenching, though :D

I was just about to post a thread about this because I had a 6 hour game session last night and I did better than I have in the last few days yet I did not pip up but maybe once?? My actions are pretty much the same any game, proper hook saves, doing gens, running the killer, totems, exit gates etc,, and out of maybe 20 matches I pipped up only once??

This one. Survivors ranking is a joke. Simply playing will get you to purple ranks at least. No need to be good at looping or decision making. I always end up in red ranks somehow..

Ranking as killer is a but harder but still way too easy. I got to rank 2 while building up my Trickster using random perks I just unlocked. I'm not even a good killer.
