I don't like to complain but this really makes me not want to play.

There really isn't a better way to show how unplayable this is when it happens, I'm not sure if it's a survivor with bad connection and the way the game deals or interprets it is the result of this (If it is fix it, punish the person with the actual garbage internet, not anyone in chase against them). Odd thing is I don't remember this happening a few years ago at least not like this, I've only really seen it recently in maybe the last year or maybe around the start of 2020 and honestly this happens maybe once every 3 games for me, and when it does I don't think anything else in this game will make me want to DC and be done with it faster, in the bottom clip I just wasted 12 seconds with frenzy and now I have to wait another 20 to get the hit I would've guaranteed had (if I had missed that would've been on me) and I'm just over it, I dc'd right there, I don't care if you think I should've stayed, I'm not going to and I'm going to play a different game. I love DBD, played it for thousands of hours but nothing makes me not wanna play it more than that. Please devs if you're working on doing something about what you just watched in the clips above let us know, or let us know if this is something new (doubtful but possible, I thought this was an issue on only my end till my friend sent me 3 clips of the same thing, credit to my friend RETRO)

I only noticed this start after the twins update when the hits were really really bad. Whatever they did to "fix" it has caused this.

People are also abusing it. I had a survivor who was messing with their ping the other day. it would go from 50 to 600 and back to 50 constantly.

There will be some form of cheating in 9 out of every 10 games you play, and dbd players will make every excuse in the book from "it's not cheating" to "it's just dedicated servers". Disguised speed hacks/wall hacks and induced desync, especially through a VPN (e.g. China to US West), are most common. Get used to it or stop paying/playing. Unfortunately there is no alternative until the almighty BHVR acknowledges that the game is not perfect and is easily hacked.

Also, what region are you playing from?

Yeah same around the time of The Twins and maybe after Blight I started seeing it. Idk if people are intentionally abusing it by messing with their own connection or it just happens because of their connection by them having bad internet it really has to be fixed, I'm not surprised either, people on Console (Xbox especially) already know DDOSing is rampant because it's much harder to cheat, like it's known you do not join parties if you just killed someone or are in a game with someone. Really not a stretch to say they'd be abusing this now since people just kinda stopped joining parties.

Were those Console players? Do you know that?

If something like this happens, it is usually from Console players in my game. Had a Claudette were this happened, two times in one game. When I killed her, I looked at their Ping (she was still in the Match) and even while not playing, her Ping sometimes went from around 70 to 800 and back.

And another time a Kate had so high ping that her Boil Over made me actually not get to a Hook, because the Struggle was so strong due to the high Ping that I got stuck with her. I also thought it was some form of Hacking, but she played with 700 Ping constantly (dont know where she was from).

So from my side, this usually happens with Console players...

But in general, when something like this happens, this means that they are losing connection to the Server for a small amount of time, which makes them running into one direction on your end, since the last bit of information the Server got was them heading that way. When they reconnect and send information again, it gets updated.

Obviously it is possible that people do it on purpose, however, it can also be because of technical issues and unintentional.

I mean it's possible, Xbox is known for DDOSing but it was a half PC half Xbox lobby and I can't remember who it was. It's plausible considering their connection went from perfect to... that. (Yeah I edited the message I remembered it was half PC and half console)

I honestly can't remember if it was a console player specifically that did it, it was half pc half console. But if memory serves me right it does tend to happen against console players. Not surprising at all since DDOS'ing is rampant on Xbox at least, like you don't join parties with people you played or are playing against, great way to get booted offline and eat a penalty.

I had this happen to me personally against a Nurse who proceeded to call me a hacker.

I felt really bad because she would have been able to kill me but on my end I froze and then suddenly I re-appeared slightly ahead because I kept pushing my key.

Honestly, there are many strange things happening in Dead By Daylight right now in relation to network connections. There is another one where if you are playing killer there is like this mini rubber band that happens mid chase, it’s very annoying.

Of course, I won’t speak for anyone else but this has been my personal experience. It’s annoying regardless because it happens at the most inconvenient times, like when you’re about to down someone or get away safely as a survivor.

I've had survivors outright vanish in an open place a few times recently due to lag. Very annoying.

Wasn't the whe selling point of dedicated servers that lag switching wouldn't be possible anymore?

Is it even still possible? I know there's a thing where if a survivor throttles their connection on pick up hooking becomes impossible and they can break free with ease (or maybe thats a hack idk, seen it happen a few times to myself and others).

That is something i´ve wittnessed a couple of times. Both the killer being unable to pickup/hook a survivor as well as the "decoy" thing.

Reported all of them. But i still wonder how thats possible with dedicated servers.

Yeah I have no idea what causes it. I was watching I think Scott or Zub recently and it happened to them and he said it was an exploit that apparently can be intentionally done. Luckily I don't see it talked about much so it doesn't seem to be widespread knowledge.

Considering how jank dbd is I wouldn't be surprised if its just a dbd servers quirk.

I hope the auto ban feature will detect those things. They have dedicated servers, they can and should read the logs.
