Please explain Pinhead's box for me
So the longer the box is left alone, the more Chain Hunt charges
If a survivor picks it up, Chain Hunt deactivates and solving it summons Pinhead
But why bother solving it? Should it be 'Chain Hunt deactivates when the puzzle box is solved'. I don't really get it, or am i missing something?
Also, do you think survivors seeing the box's aura from any distance is a bit too much? Maybe it should be like the iridescent addon and only be revealed within 16 meters. What do you guys thin?
But still, completely lost on the purpose of the box.

I don't know why they even give Pinhead the ability to tp to the person with the box if they're gonna solve it before he even gets there.

The chain hunt starts for the person holding the box while the other survivors don't have to worry about it , I think in order to prevent this the only real change he needs is to be allowed to teleport to anyone holding the box because right now you can mess with him and spam the open box button and force him into abandoning a chase and trying to teleport but being unable to do it because someone is trolling

This was confusing for me as well. Simply picking up the box deactivates the chain hunt for all survivors, not solving it which doesn't make any sense. And one of pinheads iridescent add-ons reduces the aura of the box to 16m for survivors, but honestly I think that should be base kit. Being able to see the box from clear across the map is a tad much.

The chain hunt is still on for the person holding the box though, and you pretty much can't do anything while you have it so sure he can't teleport to you if you don't open it but what good is it to do nothing the whole match and risk giving pinhead the box if you're caught?
That's why I stated he needs to be able to teleport to someone holding the box, say if they hold it for more than 3 seconds he can immediately teleport to it if he chooses , that gives him more map pressure and makes you have to choose when the right time to go for the box is instead of like now where the survivors just spam the button a few times to get you to pause to teleport losing pressure and being unable to teleport then continually do it every so many seconds, basically pinhead shouldn't be able to get trolled by his own ability and should be able to do something when the box is in their possession for more than a few seconds.

Yeah I think the box should be given the twins treatment in that if a survivor takes the box hostage then you should see their aura.

Doesn't the chain hunt restart for everyone after like a minute?

Teleporting the box causes it to disappear and respawn after a delay.

Video footage I have seen demonstrates that the person holding the box definitely can do stuff such as gens. They can't do it EFFICIENTLY, mind you, but it's not like Twins where holding onto Victor essentially makes the game a 3v1.

Got your explaination right here...

You opened the box, I came!

Are people legitmately spamming the solve button to troll this man [pinhead] ? I knew a strat people were doing were opening the box way way away from teammates so he'll chase in an area that's useless to him. But to legit troll? I wouldn't say I'm not entirely surprised if people are trolling with the box.

Okay so to my understanding of the box...
Basically, you know the chain hunts. The chain hunts will grow in intensity, harassing the survivors. The box, if a survivor obtains it (or holds it hostage... 😒) Will delay the chain hunt on everyone else. The hunt will only affect the person holding the box. The person holding the box will have this neat little tune as you hold it but you're oblivious to pinhead and his terror radius. This isn't a big deal if you're observant enough in your surrounds. Anyway, when a survivor has the box, they can solve the box. A successful solve will basically reset the chain hunts timer before it starts being active again. If pinhead teleports to whoever opened the box and makes them drop the box, the chain hunt resumes as before the survivor picked up the box, giving another survivor a chance to solve the lament configuration and temporarily end the chain hunt.
If pinhead finds the box, he can open it and all survivors will scream, revealing their location. I believe the point of the box for Pinhead is to keep survivors from delaying the chain hunt as it's a big part of his power. This is why I have such an issue with survivors just holding the damn thing hostage all game without actually solving it.
And yes, I don't think survivors should see the aura from legit all the way across the map. The iridescent add on should be base. Also just makes it easier to race over to hold it hostage.
Hope this maybe helped. :)

Chain hunt is still on for the survivor holding the box and if Pinhead can down the survivor holding it the all survivors scream and get chain hunted.
It's bassically risk/reward. If you can hold the box and not go down you deny pinhead a lot of pressure. If a random chain screws you and you do go down then the whole team is in trouble and a smart pinhead will go slug heavy to apply as much pressure as he can during it.
A survivor holding the box going down can quickly turn a game to the killer if the Pinhead is smart and actually pressures the survivors while they can't progress easilly.
This is twice as bad if Pinhead has Franklins as instead of a down he just needs a hit.
Holding the box hostage seems effective now but i think it will be a death sentence if you go against a really good pinhead

But don't survivors still get their Chain Hunt meters reset?

Chain hunt stops after picking up the box. Survivors who hold the lament configuration have the oblivious status effect and will occasionally be harassed by chains. During this time the "chain hunt meter" does not progress. If pinhead downs the survivor with the box, he immediately gets it and can initiate a chain hunt. Survivors can also NOT drop the box themselves like with other items, they need to solve it so it respawns elsewhere.

This thread shows how he's unnecessary complex for a clown 2.0

But them holding it and the meters not progressing as a result is a bug, right?
