How come we haven't seen a 2v8 mode
So in order to start this you must first understand why someone might be expecting something like a 2v8 mode in DBD well I have many reasons why and I can list each and every last one but instead I feel to shorten this I will only elaborate on a few reasons which will express why a 2v8 mode might not only be expected but also why it would make so much sense to add. The very first reason that a 2v8 mode should be added is simply it would be fun. In recent years the DBD team has been focusing on what is fun not the competitive aspect this is highlighted in a recent interview with one of the devs sorry can't remember his name in the interview he was asked a few questions some that are around the issues of balance if you want to look at this interview leaks by daylight put in a easy to read text document. Now the main counter argument to the 2v8 mode being fun is that you wouldn't know since it's not In the game. This argument is flawed since their had been many bugs in the game where more than one killer was in a match which I have experienced first hand and it was quite fun no matter which side you were on. The next reason is that is that implementing a 2v8 mode would be easy for the most part for two reasons. Reason 1 bhvr has already made a 2v8 mode in another game called death garden this game has since died for reasons unrelated. Reason 2 a content creator on YouTube named cowsiam has already made a 2v8 mode into the game and it worked with a few issues but for the most part it seemed to work pretty good and not only that it seemed extremely fun so fun in fact I'm jealous I will never be able to experience it. Do my question for the bhvr team that works on DBD why haven't we seen a 2v8 mode? My guess is the fear of it killing the game like how death garden died but death garden died because DBD was too strong if you wanted to make another 1v4 or 1v5 game you need give the game a reason to play it or even give it in the hands of more people death garden died because it was limited from it's beginning instead of making accessable to every device on release day they made it only on PC make the player base very limited and they had to choose one game so they chose DBD now it's time for them to add the cool ideas they had in death garden into DBD.
(Tl;Dr) 2v8 should be in dead by daylight already because of how much support and fun it would bring to the game

I wouldn't expect it for this game however if they were to make a sequel it would be a missed opportunity if they didn't.

I'd say let them recode the entire thing first (which they are seemingly doing in the background). THEN balance out perks and maps, make them more dynamic for 1:4. and then it will need a long testing phase of how killer abilities synergies or counter each other. Would you want blight to consistently step into trapper's traps? Doctor waking up people from the dreamworld?

The problem is that this gamemode wouldn't work at all.
You'd need to adjust maps and add more generators, because we can't just have 8 survivors working on five gens. With Prove Thyself, it would just make the match way too short. You'd need to make maps bigger then, and that's no fun for killers.
But then you also make looping completely impossible. With two killers on a loop, a survivor can't do anything but just hold W until they get killed.
They could try stealth, but... Doctor is a thing. Imagine a Doctor/Spirit combo, you just wouldn't get to play as survivor.

This is an argument I see a lot of and I disagree it would be easy to counter many of these issues with simple fixes and perks it would be pretty hard to gen rush if you played against a impossible skill checks doc and a tinker and discordance hillbilly working together and focusing more on the gens then survivors and if the double killer in a chase is to hard to deal wit the make it so after a killer gets hit they are immune to being hit again for three seconds this makes it so they get a free speed boost and reaction time to two killers trying to very hard to down one singular survivor their is two much to account for in order for anyone to say that a 2v8 mode won't work. Also in my post I said that cowsiam made this a reality and maybe you should check it out it might highlight how this might work

I want another game mode. Something not related to repair gens and more focused on chases or interaction with killers and / or survs.
Maybe a 5 vs 5 capture the flag (1 killer ans 4 survs on each team) , race against the clock survival mode..... Idk.... But no more boring m1 gens.

2v6
Anything more than 4 survivors on objectives and your gonna need a junkyard of generators to balance out actual play time. We already have matches under 5min and that's just with 3 on gens while one is chased.

i would like to see a 6v6 gamemode. 1 killer, 4 survivors v 1 killer, 4 survivors with a race to kill the other team's survivors

1)the maps would need to be doubled, twice the generators, twice the totems, twice the pallets, twice the size. This is problematic
2)Killer perks and powers are not designed for there to be more than one killer. Anything that creates a global effect or puts a debuff on a survivor would have to be looked at how multiple instances would interact.
2a) How would two Ruins work? or a Devour Hope on one killer but not the other?
2b) Imagine facing a Freddy and getting the oblivious effect from going to sleep, and the other Killer is Leatherface who you can't hear coming
3) The performance can be problematic as is, imagine twice the resource draw
This would essentially be making a new game from the ground up.

1. Their are maps that currently are do big that one killer isn't enough to pressure the map an example would be mother's dwelling or lampkin lane these maps could be the first maps that the 2v8 mode could start since killers can't do well there
2. There are many ways to incorporate totems into a 2v8 mode one way is to lock out the perk in your selection if the other killer has it equipped or you could choose a perk that will sub out the hex perk if the other killer uses it the final way I can think about is making it so the perks could stack in certain ways like if you brought ruin it would regress gens faster which could make up for the fact their was more survivors ruining around doing gens faster but those are just suggestions
3. So the obvious that a killer afflects to a survivor only works against that certain killer so you can still hear the leather face terror radius but just not Freddy's also one concern you might have is legion and doc but it would be no different from a borrowed time hit
4 . The cowsiam video showed it was possible now all we got to do is Optimize the game mode so it doesn't crash your game as for survivor defence's you could set the map to a much bigger map like rpd or mother's dwelling and add twice the amount of pallets and make it feel like the game map with infinite reasources or just conine two maps into one like how they did for the clown map but it could be more random like one step you in trappers map the next your on auto heaven wreckers map and the environment looks infected with another map sorta like the blight events

How to kill queue times and update times in one easy step

All of those things require additional coding, it would be a massive project.
My example with Freddy would require a full re-code of the Oblivious status effect, because the effect is applied to the survivor, which makes it killer independent. Exposed is another survivor based debuff that would be an issue.
Even the large existing maps are prone for 3 gen situations, doubling the gen count will increase the potential for 3 gens since the average distance between gens will be significantly reduced.
The idea of a 2v8 gets thrown around a lot, it would be fun, but impractical to implement. It would also not make money to offset the cost of production, and it would also remove resources from additional content and improvements to the base game.

They can't even rework Hawkins, yet alone make another game mode.

This actually isn't as bad as it sounds, Identity V already does this and 2 Killers on a single Survivor is basically throwing the game. And as for Killers running the same loop... well, we all know why 2 Survivors running the same loop is bad, right? Same thing here.
