If there's one thing to come out of the Bubba mask fiasco, it needs to be this

Implement a proper report and ban system.

While removing the masks will help for this particular case of harassment, it won't prevent future incidents. There needs to be a tangible way for people to report harassers followed up by meaningful consequences against them.

From what I've read, the face wasn't the real issue. It was the end game chat (which should be logged) and going on streamers channels and harassing there. Being it in the chat logs or Twitch/Youtube logs, there are policies in place to deal with these people. A symbolic gesture like what they are doing now, doesn't fix anything.

  • I never realized it was in such shambles. Guess I'll just stop reporting people.

That's not even a joke. I feel like my time would be wasted

If you Issue a report against a player, why doesn't the game save a .txt file of the End Game Chat log and send it to the people in charge of those things?

God, this. It seems like even when you've got several chat logs of obvious evidence against a player, they might get banned a month from now if you're lucky. Meanwhile, if an abuse happens in-game and doesn't have corroborating chat evidence, the burden is on you to record this happening, visit their out-of-game support website, and submit a ticket corresponding to your report (you can't do one or the other, it has to be both), otherwise they won't do anything even if they do read the report. And if they do get to the report, it will again be after a huge time backlog and the abusive player will have been able to ruin hundreds of other games in that time.

It's a goddamn mess and it's frankly embarrassing that BHVR won't allocate any resources towards fixing this. It is an issue on so many levels.

  • I already forgot all about this... makes me think the in-game report system is just a skeleton disguised as a wizard blowing smoke instead of magic.

"If you really wanted them banned, you would come to us directly, not in-game"
