Why exactly can you proc DH when stuck?

Such as hugging window or pallet. Waiting and baiting DH before doing actual vault

As apperantly you dont “dodge” the attack. It becomes as soul guard

Because you still perform the dash forwards and get the i-frames, except there's something blocking your forward momentum and thus preventing you from moving. It's like if you run into a wall normally, you still try and perform movement and play the animation and the game recognises sprinting (ie. Sprint Burst triggers).
