Leaver penalty needs to be addressed
It's ridiculous that the leaver penalty only applies to killers. Survivors don't need to dc they can just suicide on hook. 9 times out of 10 a killer will kill you because why wouldn't they especially since they can do things like spam notifications and effectively impede your hearing if you don't deal with them. I shouldn't get a five minute penalty for having to leave because I'm being held hostage even if they got a ban the damage is done I'm punished for their maliciousness so why does this penalty exist?

Realistically, the leaver penalty only needs to be applied to survivors, since when a killer leaves the game ends. Plus they do it less.
It won't happen though because survs would complain they they can't torture an individual for funsies with their group without them being punished for protecting their sanity and leaving.

Uh... I'm pretty sure survivors still get a DC penalty?

they do but as i said you can easily sidestep the penalty by suiciding the chances you're going to get a killer that ignores you especially if you spam notifications is extraordinarily low because at that point they've taken it upon themselves to act as a check for the dc penalty which also just highlights how ridiculous the penalty is in the first place

It’s hard to do anything about it. It’s not always a good idea to attempt escape from the hook, but the option is there and it’s not against the rules to use it, even if a lot of survivors will use it as an alternative to dcing.

Then why not remove it? Why disproportionately punish part of your player base especially if you have had hackers hold them hostage in hours long games in the past?

There is practically no reason a killer needs to leave the game.

So what do killers do when the survivor hacker hijacks the lobby and the killer cant leave?

So a hacker can easily prevent survivors from leaving too. No difference. And if you wanna talk about hackers, discussing a backdoor is stupid, cause it should be discussing how to prevent hacking in the first place.

Hacking can't be prevented so something needs to be done to prevent legit players from being held hostage then penalized for taking the oy option available to end a match.

If you want to leave as killer, do it, if its a legit reason (bored, tired, hungry, etc. Priorities come first!) that 5 minute penalty will be nothing to you.
If you plan to come back soon, like a pee break, go to the basement and afk.
If you dont want the leaver penalty, just wait in the basement.
if you're being held hostage by a cheater, alt tab and do something else (most cheaters have the patience of a QAnon Karen at McDonald's, and usually leave between 5-30 minutes, sometimes hours.) ((And if you keep them there, they aren't bothering anyone else too).
