How to Stop Killer's *Abusing* Blocking
Blocking is a very important strategy in Dead By Daylight, and this post is not to talk about that.
This post instead talks about Killers using blocking to do things like hold survivors hostage in a corner. (Ie. This video by SpooknJukes at 6:00 https://youtu.be/TyEVLNY6UQQ?t=360)
To resolve this issue, I'd suggest allowing survivors to pass through the killer, similar to how they can after being hit, if they walk into the killer for a period of time such as 10 seconds (a higher amount of time is necessary as to not impede on using the strategy to block routes as a killer, and only apply to these such cases).
This is a rarer occurrence, but still is an issue with the game that I hope could be resolved, as being held hostage in DbD is about the most fun-killing experience you can have in the game.
What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Why not add passing though survivors as well?

I think it makes sense, it rarely happens but it would have to be a minute or maybe more, not seconds.
Cause no survivor traps a killer in a corner, the killer can just hit them and down them. Sadako does tho :P
There's no use for killers to run through survivors if they are idle/not moving, OP is not talking about passing through killers when they block a pallet, they're talking about actually preventing the survivor from moving and taking them hostage, the killer is just standing in front of them for a long time, not moving and not letting the survivor move, that situation doesn't happen the other way around

And I'm not talking about killers passing through survivors.
Survivors can block other survivors.

B-but then you could actually hit the survivor you want! Can't have that because that isn't fun for the people that matter is it?

Oh yeah that too, I've been held hostage by survivors and never by killers, this should be a thing too
3 -
Exactly. Getting held hostage by teammates happens more often. At least to me.

Survivors can hit other survivors?
3 -
Emotionally, yes.

Anyone blocking someone else while standing still should just be possible to walk through after several seconds. Obviously shouldn't interfere with the perfectly intended kinds of blocking like keeping a survivor in a corner to land a power hit on them, blocking windows/pallets, survivors taking hits for other survivors and so on.

I've never once in all my time been held hostage by a killer, nor have I ever blocked in a survivor for longer than it takes to fully land a special. I feel like that is a problem with such a low incidence that it probably isn't worth addressing with manpower. And even it it were addressed, I'd bet for sure that it would lead to survs' bodyblocking for each other failing to work consistently (or at all), so replacing a small headache with large one.
I have been sandbagged/blocked by other survs on innumerable occasions, though. That is a much more prevalent issue, I'd think.

Missed the part where you clarified survivor vs survivor :P

While I do agree that it is an issue, your not exactly being held hostage by the killer.

They’d have to give it like a 30 second timer at best because obviously there’s killers that if they catch someone in the corner as say plague, Trapper, or Hillbilly they’ll wanna take advantage of that cause it can get them a quick down.

I'm a survivor, I use terms like "held the game hostage" when a killer body blocks. Only survivors should have the power to bodyblock. No fair!

Or just report that person, and move on. Instead of gimping a valid strategy just because a very rare few bad apples abuse it.

As much as I don't like it that holding the game hostage is a thing... I don't like how this will still be an indirect nerf as you hook someone in a bad spot for the survivors then you can body block 1 way forcing the survivors to take the long way wasting more time for them and possibly causing the survivor on hook to run out of time.

Its already against the rules.

i feel like a good way of addressing this would be to make it so when a Survivor stands still for, lets say, 10 seconds, they lose all collision with other players for as long as they dont move and 2 seconds afterwards.
That way it would be impossible to block someone in a corner indefinitely, given that either the player blocking the other person will lose collision, or the person in the corner themselves will lose collision and be able to phase through them with the 2 seconds of movement they get.
and since it forces you to stand still for a relatively lengthy periode of time i dont think it would be abusabe during chases to somehow get an upper hand.

Once someone has afk-Crows, they should lose Collision. This takes long enough for every Ability to come back (if the Killer wants to get a hit with their power for more points), but will ensure that you cannot take players hostage anymore.

It would have to be for the same length of time as the EGC, BHVR has expilicity stated body blocking in the ECG is not reportable.

Pinning someone into a corner while the only other Survivor is bleeding out / dying on hook is valid and takes longer than AFK crows I believe. The timer would have to be longer.

Why not downing the Survivor who is currently blocked? There is 0 point in blocking them into a corner.
0 -
If that Survivor isn't injured you can't guarantee a down before they can reach the other Survivor as most Killers.

And if that Survivor is not injured, you would not be able to guarantee a Down before they reach Hatch.
A really bad excuse to keep something like bodyblocking over a longer period of time in the game.

Trapping a prick survivor in a corner is super satisfying. Would be lame if they fixed it tbh.
