Cosmetic Contest: My Experience as a 3D Artist

My story

For me, I had never been too fond of 2D art, I couldn't do it, and I didn't wanna learn it, so I found considerable interest in 3D modeling and the technical aspect of that, which was easier for me, starting off in Maya in my freshman year, then settling with blender which I was actually a lot more comfortable using.

When I heard the news of the contest, I got really excited to participate because I had recently gotten really good at modeling. But my troubles started once I had to find something to work with. I didn't have time to sculpt an existing character from the ground up, which forced me to get a ripped model online, which felt wrong, and illegal, the model I found was fully clothed and doing the lobby animation, so I couldn't pose him at all. I spiced it up using my environmental skills, but overall I was dissatisfied with the skin itself because of the number of limitations I had to work with.

For the future, it would be a major help if we had access to design kit models, the same underwear-wearing character models that the skin designers at BHVR have so that I can go through the clothing design the way you're supposed to. It would make me feel a lot more satisfied with my skin knowing that I didn't just retexture a pre-existing skin. I know some issues arise, being NSFW art, as well as Copyright problems, which ultimately leads me to believe the immediate answer is going to be no. But I'll hold out hope

for those wondering this was the original skin before I had to sculpt all the changes around it

Cheers!
