The new meta
I see survivors using more and more prove thyself, hyperfocus, stake out and very strong toolboxes.
I see killers using more and more eruption, call of brine, overcharge and corrupt intervention.
I can also understand that survivors use those perks because killers use very strong slowdown perks and killers use those perks because survivors use very strong gen perks and items.
But should this make the game miserable to whoever decides not to use any of these?
If a killer wants to bring 4 slowdown perks like those mentioned above and the survivors are all bringing cute perks like head on, quick and quiet etc. the killer will win automatically.
Same goes for survivors. If survivors bring all gen perks and strong toolboxes and the killer wants to run cute perks like dragon's grip and Insidious, the survivors will win automatically.
I feel forced on both sides to use very strong perks in case the other side brings very strong perks. If the opposite side runs cute perks, it's a loss for them. At least that's how I feel right now.

You are 100% not forced to run either of those. In fact, I almost never see Survivors with Hyperfocus, I think it is incredibly overhyped and since you are not going against Wesker on RPD basically any Match anymore (which was the case when Hyperfocus was new), you dont get Stake Out-Stacks on a regular basis, meaning it is harder to keep the Hyperfocus-Stacks.
I see Prove Thyself a lot, but this Perk is mostly used for the BPs. If you would remove the Bonus, the pickrate would drop a lot. And even if it is used a lot - two Survivors on one Gen with PTS is still better than two Survivors on two Gens without PTS for the Killer...
When it comes to Killer-Meta, yes, this is stacked Slowdown. And this is mainly because the Perks do synergize very well with each other. It is not only Eruption, it is at least Call of Brine on top of it. There is a really strong Synergy in the current Meta and the benefit is mostly gained by things the Killer does anyway - downing a Survivor for Eruption, hooking a Survivor for Pain Resonance, etc... Sure, you have to kick Gens, but this is not even that bad anymore if you pair it with Call of Brine and/or Overcharge and the initial kick also shaves of more progress than before.
And well, stacking Slowdowns is the easiest way to play Killer, so I guess this is why it is used so much.
But from my own experience, you dont need to stack Slowdowns. I mainly run Corrupt Intervention on some Killers and I am doing fine. If I play Wesker with Lethal Pursuer, Floods of Rage, Brutal Strength and Dissolution, I will probably win less games compared to using Eruption, Call of Brine, Overcharge and Pain Resonance, but at least I have more fun this way...

Wait I think I played against a Wesker with that build before.
I think we have played together. I was an elodie on Ormond. I think if was like a few days ago. Does that sound familiar?

I did not play that much during the last days, but if you are on EU-Servers, yes, this might be possible. :)
Even tho; I rarely recognize names when playing (let alone Maps). I have the same name ingame as on the Forums.

Dang I'm in North American servers. So we probably didn't.
My name on the forum is different them in game

One of the first games after I started playing again was against someone with the full built to last/stakeout/hyperfocus/overzealous combo. And a toolbox naturally. And since I hadn't unlocked the currently-meta gen stuff, I made the mistake of bringing Ruin.
Oh and we got put on The Game (Or someone brought an offering).
So it definitely happens. And it was a rather disappointing experience.

Hyperfocus is extremely overrated. There might be a bit of correlation between losing games against players who have the perk, but it's not necessarily causative. Players should try running it for 10-20 games. Overzealous/Inner Healing is more of a net efficiency gain.

I play 100% solo, play all survivors in rotation using only adept perks & in the last 612 games (stats coming soon) have just under a 50% escape rate with survivors as a whole having just over a 50% escape rate.
The survivor build you mentioned I virtually never see (at least not all together) Killers do generally overwhelmingly go for slowdowns but we've been absolutely destroyed by killers using zero slow downs too so neither is an absolute requirement (except maybe at the very top of mmr)
I'd encourage more players to play different builds (for more than 1 or 2 games) & see exactly how well they do.
Biggest problem is players crutch on the meta then believe thats the only way to win, playing non meta builds will ultimately make you a better player long term (on both sides)

Having more than two gen speed perks on top of toolboxes is overkill. Everyone keeps trying to convince me survivors are running hyperfocus+ stakeout as often as prove thyself, but I don't see it. It's all a sea of prove thyselves.
