The hackers are back. I just got DoS'd for about 10 hours. I just had to change my IP address.
Hello, everyone. The script-kiddies are back. So, I'm a streamer, and while I was trying to stream this game on Thursday night, I encountered a hacker who DoS'd me in the middle of a game, knocking me offline. I enabled some anti-DoS safety measures on my firewall after I was booted offline. I was able to get back online, but he kept DoS'ing, making me rubber-band and the game was literally unplayable. I didn't stop my stream, though, because ######### that guy.
Apparently, my IP address is easily visible to this person and DbD takes no security measures to hide this information. He DoS'd me for about 10 hours straight -- long after I ended my stream. I had to get a brand new IP address (a pain in the ass) and a now purchase a VPN subscription because these script kiddies like targeting streamers. This is a gigantic safety risk and a complete oversight on behalf of BHVR.
Literally everyone playing this game without a VPN is at risk of a DoS attack. If you're a streamer, big or small, you ABSOLUTLEY need a VPN. VPN services aren't always incredibly reliable, either. My connection is now about 100mbp/s slower. This means greater in-game latency.
If I didn't have the relative technical know-how to identify a DoS attack, implement the proper procedures to discontinue and ensure it doesn't happen persistently, I would be at the absolute mercy of some online, anti-social troll. If I was some 15 year old kid who just happened to play against the wrong script-kiddie who had it out for me, he could DoS me indefinitely till he was satisfied.
Seriously, BHVR. Fix this already.

The fact that it hasn't been taken care of already is alarming considering its been known about for roughly a year. But hey instead of fixing large security issues, enjoy your buggy chapter, and new time limited cosmetics.

You do know that fixing security and cosmetics are 2 different teams right? Don’t start this ######### ######### please.

You're not wrong about two different teams, but it does show a gaping flaw in their priorities since a really bad security flaw is allowed to just exist. When this flaw was discovered, everyone able to should've been put on that until it was resolved, even if it meant chapter delays. They can't make money off fixing this security issue so its allowed to just persist.
Look at what happened with Dark souls 3, when they found a huge security flaw that put users at risk Fromsoftware shut down their servers until it was fixed. Yet with bhvr, this issue has remained, with no fix insight.

If this actually happened, then a lot of these people wouldn't even try it in the first place, but I dont think anyone does anything about it.
