Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Billy Main's Perspective On Map Releases/Reworks

Ive been playing DBD for a really long time now, with roughly 1K+ hours dedicated to Billy itself (900+ hours on Controller, 100+ hours on KBM). And I have a few words about the recent map releases and map reworks that have taken place just to bring light to how awful it really is.

Garden of Joy's Release

Im sure everyone has seen the infamous bush collision zones that chainsaw Killer had to deal with for a really long time. And some might say "well it is fixed so why talk about it?" which leads me to the point of map design.

When BHVR designs a map, and makes the collision zones, they need to see how this will affect every single Killer... this includes Billy. BHVR, in a sense, needs to "lead with their best foot forwards" with map releases.

Eyrie of Crows (+Rework)

Eyrie of Crows is such weird map to talk about, since it is open for most other Killers but becomes absolute hell for Billy because areas that you wouldnt expect to have collision... well, do have collision. On top of this, the weird formation of rocks are insanely difficult (if not impossible) curve around because the geometry actively works against Billy.

Eyrie of Crows was eventually reworked, which only made the map overall worse for Billy since the map only got more cluttered with rocks and tiles with awful geometry. Keep in mind, this is also ignoring the fact that collision for vines and trees were never actually fixed and they are still an absolute pain to deal with (and easily abusable by Survivors).

RPD Rework

RPD was already a really bad map for Billy, but the changes overall just make playing Billy on this map an overall miserable experience. The hallways becomes significantly more cluttered meaning that you are more likely to hit objects which you cant even actively see on your screen. More passageways were opened up but this overall made Billy worse since the thin corridors led to easy chainsaw downs... which is obviously made more difficult if Survivors can just leave the thin corridor with the additions of more passageways.

Red Forest Rework

Red Forest was one of the many maps that Billy use to thrive in, because the map was opened, have tiles that they could play around, had areas that obscured vision (but did not actively hinder their power). The rework to Red Forest has only made the map worse for Billy due to more objectives being in the way. These objects also have weird geometry that makes curving overall harder than it was before.

Another thing as well, is unlike a Killer like Blight, who can take the time of observe surroundings, Billy is locked into facing a single direction, "long-sawing" is made overall worse on this map because the sightlines are heavily obscured by bushes, ferns, shrubs, and trees; this is entirely excluding the fact that there is a higher probability of hitting objects in general on this map due to the additions of such greenery.

Another thing to point as well, is that Billy, like other chainsaw Killers, are significantly more weak to window loops than other Killers. The bottom floor "staircase window" can now be fast vaulted in both directions by Survivors (who can get the angle and timing correctly) whereas before you could only fast vault in a single direction.
