Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Skins unlocked for characters you don't own should give you something else.

I recently got a artist outfit which is a character I don't have since I don't feel like spending 5 bucks to unlock every character. My personal opinion is that if you get a skin for someone you don't own, most likely from prime gaming, it should give you a cosmetic for a random character you own of the same rarity.

But you still have the cosmetic and if you decide later on to buy said character (original characters are available with shards which you get by playing) you will have it unlocked.

maybe an option to sell cosmetic pieces you have for (smaller) amount of shards? Idk, doesn’t seem very likely for BHVR to do something like that..

Simple. When you unlock something for someone you don't have there should be a pop up that says something similar to the lines of; "Character not owned. Would you like to keep this or get something else?"

Why would they do that, when it serves as incentive to buy additional characters?

And if they're time limited cosmetics, you're hardly going to 'choose something else', just in case you eventually end up unlocking that character.
