Unlinking Steam and Epic Accounts

I've been playing DBD on Steam for a long time.
At some point, DBD was given away for free on Epic and my kid grabbed a copy. I just linked the accounts using my e-mail address, because I knew he wasn't going to play much, but I'm dumb and didn't think the future would ever change.
Of course, now he's a little older and he wants to start playing DBD with me. Except he can't so long as his Epic account is linked to to my Steam account.
I know I can unlink the Epic account from my BHVR account and just keep the Steam one, but it warns me about losing progress/virtual goods/etc.
Does anyone know if I'll lose progress on both my Steam and Epic accounts if I unlink just the Epic account, or is it just the Epic account that will lose the progress?
