The hypocrisy of the new DbD game's title: What the Fog
Why is it okay for the game to be titled this way, but when I used the exact same phrase a year ago I got a moderation strike for "bypassing the profanity filter?"
When I used the phrase, it was not to swear or curse or be profane. It was used as an equivalent of "what gives," "what the heck," "wow…" or "really?"

I ask myself similar questions when I hear chucky saying all the things that end game chat censors 🙃

Like "bypassing the profanity filter" is not really well defined. What counts as bypassing?
If someone spelled out something awful but put spaces between so the automatic filter doesnt apply, Im sure it would count as bypassing the filter… but does that extend to replacement words such as "heck" and "dang" count?
I dont expect a full on essay on what does and doesnt apply, but I wish BHVR provided some examples for us to go by, so people dont accidentally break the rules because the wording is too vague.

Because there are different rules for games and discussion forums?
The reason there are restriction on profanity in forums and end game chat is not that profanity is inherently bad, but that appropriateness is based on the place and context of its use.

Alot of the time it simply comes down to moderator's discretion. I used to moderate for a popular gaming company back in the Facebook game days (showing my age here lol) and we had the same forum rules about bypassing the filter, and having mods from all corners of the world meant that sometimes one mod would interpret something one way while another would think it's fine. Just as an example.
