First impression of the new Freddy

  • The new dream snares are effective and feel good to use.
  • Add-ons are now pretty decent across the board now.
  • Greatly improved teleport makes his map pressure much better, as well as allowing him to actually use his power during endgame. Although there is some sort of delay right before teleporting which feels a little clunky, this could just be a bug however.
  • After teleporting you get a little 8m circle around you, survivors in this circle are revealed with killer instinct and gain 15 seconds on their sleep meter. It's a nice effect but sadly survivors are well outside of this radius after your teleport, and considering you spawn 12 meters away from healing survivors, you will practically never catch any survivor with this.
  • Alarm clocks can now be reused with a cool down, but they have a shorter sleep immunity as well. Honestly not sure how balanced this is yet, might require some small number tweaks in the future if people find the clocks too oppressive or too weak.
  • Dream pallet detonation offers some slight versatility, but it's not a massive improvement over the old version. Any survivor who was looping a fake pallet would probably get hit anyway. Although detonation does allow you to potentially get a hit from a further distance.
  • Survivors can see which pallets are fake, which kind of ruins the whole point of a "fake pallet". They can simply ignore your fake pallets, without having to keep track of which are real and which are not.
  • Survivors can drop fake pallets to cancel the detonation, considering that the survivor has to be within 3 meters of the pallet to take damage, you have to have impeccable timing to hit the survivor before they have the chance to drop it, and even then, unless you are somewhat far away, you would have probably still hit them with your m1 if they did manage to drop it. And all of this is assuming they ran into your obviously fake pallet instead of just ignoring it.
  • Dream pallets now stunning you feels unnecessary and clunky. If you don't switch to the correct power and manually detonate the pallet, you now actually run the risk of losing distance. (also thematically it makes no sense to get stunned by your own fake pallet)
  • Dream pallets are able to hit survivors below it, I'm guessing this is unintended, because it doesn't make much sense and feels a little janky.

I personally don't see why the detonation couldn't just be added to the current version of dream pallets, survivors would still get an indication that it's about to explode, so they would still be able to avoid it. The nerfs to fake pallets are just unnecessary. In it's current state I think the detonation feels a bit pointless. The pallets are basically the same as before but worse in some ways and better in some niche scenarios which are completely map dependent. I also feel like the 8 meter radius after a teleport could be increased to 12 meters or something. But besides the Pallets and the small radius Freddy is seemingly a much better killer now, so at least there's that.
