Houndmaster Suggestions

Houndmaster is a very fun killer (enough for me to p100 her), but there are definitely some things I want changed that I'm listing below roughly in order of the priority I want them implemented.

  • Bug Fixes

This first change is the highest priority as I obviously want her power to work. Minor elevation changes makes Snug get stuck for significant periods of time, he often safety teleports when you try to send him at a survivor (even putting your power on cooldown), and the path indicator often lies about vaults/getting stuck on an object. The dog sometimes go invisible for half the match, gets stuck sideways, and the dog will start the search path on the opposite side of a wall from you as well.

  • Chase Command Cooldown: 5 seconds (was 3 seconds)
    • The Chase Command Cooldown starts when the dog starts coming back towards you

This accomplishes QOL on both sides: It makes redirects and long range shots more forgiving to go for by shortening the overall downtime, but from the survivor perspective, getting grabbed by the dog and the Houndmaster player immediately being able to send the power again once the weapon wipe is over can be frustrating as well.

  • Add a Recall function to the Search command

With how finnicky the search command can be in selecting things and the amount of situations where you break off the search command to go start chasing someone, being able to stop the search path and get Snug back to you sooner would feel great and should be implemented.

  • Knotted Rope: Reduces the cooldown by 8% (was 2%)

While I also think there could be some other changes to increase add-on variety, this add-on was not problematic at 10%, and is just useless at 2%. I think 8% is a fair number to make it viable without going back to the 10% that was deemed a problem.

  • Barley Meal partially base-kit

The extra initial Chase distance from this add-on feels pretty necessary. You can get away with not running it, but I run it in almost every build and think some of that range should be shifted onto the base-kit.

As a P100 Pirate Mommy I agree with these changes.

The chase command from 3 to 5 could work if all her bugs were fixed but even meeting you in the middle at 4 seconds I think personally is fair too.

I’d like to see her addons get touched up again truthfully.

The only other thing I want genuinely from her though is for snug to pull back to the Houndmaster. I do not like the new grab mechanic they added to it.

This is literally all I ask. Please revert this. It’s more of a pain the way it is.

    • Yes she definitely needs bugfixes. And a lot of them too.
    • Agree with the chase cooldown change for the reasons you said.
    • Search recall is something I hadn't considered before but I don't really see any problems with it.
    • I would much rather rework Knotted Rope with a new effect than re-buff it. Old Knotted Rope + STBFL was pretty horrible to play against and I don't think it would be much different at 8% than it was at 10%. Basic attack recovery speed should just not really ever be part of an addon imo. My suggestion has been to change it to instead increase the size of the Search radius by 20%.
    • I'm indifferent on Barley Meal being partial basekit. I don't think I would have anything against it, but I've never felt like its necessary either. I don't use it very often and usually do fine without it.
    • I'd also say they could look at buffs for Spyglass and Belaying Pins, I don't think those addons are very good. Belaying Pins gives only 20 seconds of oblivious in situations where survivors should often know you're coming anyway since you just sent the dog there. Spyglass aura at 3 seconds is quite easy to miss entirely especially if you're not in chase with that survivor (and it doesn't activate at all anyways if you hit them before houndsense ends).

Yeah I was surprised there hasn't been anything that increases the size of the search radius, I would like that as well.

I’d like houndsense to be a little more useful too. I’m not a fan of the deep wound stuff.

I think houndsense is fine on its own, there just aren't really any add-ons that make it super useful. Like Fatty Meat is useful for hex's I guess and to trigger DMS sometimes, but that's really the only add-on that is "survivors who are affected by houndsense" and even then its value is very inconsistent because it doesn't show the location of the screams.
