Some QoL Suggesions I've Been Thinking about
As DBD has gotten bigger and bigger, with a massive amount of Killer powers, Killer/Survivor perks, Items, and add-ons, it feels almost impossible for a casual player to keep up with everything. I've been thinking about some small changes that could make the game a lot more accessible and improve the experience for everyone.
One thing that really bugs me is how inconsistent Killer power cues can be. Killers like Huntress, Wesker, and Demogorgon have super clear audio and visual cues when they start and cancel their power. It makes it clear on how to react against them, even if you can't see them. But for some Killers. There’s no sound cue at all when they cancel their power. Standardizing these cues would make the game so much more intuitive without really impacting the normal flow of a match.
As someone who can't see the color red well, some of the most crucial leads can be difficult for me to see. Things like the Killer's red stain, scratch marks, and hook/generator auras are harder to see, which can turn a chase or a loop into a frustrating guessing game sometimes. I've also noticed that the aura color for hooks sometimes changes when using the Saboteur perk, which makes things even more confusing each time I use it.
So, I'm proposing a few suggestions:
- Status Effect Indicators: A visual indicator when a Survivor/Killer gains Haste/Hindered status effect by any means (could be a colored overlay during the duration).
- Persistent Perk Notifications: When a perk affects you, the name should linger on the HUD for a bit longer. It would help players learn the names and effects of perks so much faster.
- Standardized Killer Cues: All Killers should have clear audio and visual cues for starting and canceling their power. It would make the game feel more consistent.
- Accessibility: An option in the settings to change the colors of auras, scratch marks, and the Killer's red stain. This is something the community has wanted for a long time and would be a huge quality-of-life improvement.
