Suggestions for Clown Part 2 (Add-ons)
This is a part two to my previous post about changes needed for clown, although my original post is much more important as it was in regards to his basekit (please read it). Clown definitely doesn't have the worst set of add-ons in the world, but over half of his add-ons between brown and blue rarity are either practically useless or very niche (along with his horrendous iri add-ons), so I thought I would share my ideas for them. Only add-ons that absolutely need change in my opinion in terms of health for the game is Sticky Soda Bottle and Redhead's Pinkie Finger, but most of the others I made changes for could definitely use them as well:
Fingerless Parade Gloves: Increases maximum bottle throwing distance by 50%. Decreases bottle throwing charge speed by 30%.
The current state of this add-on isn't horrendous, but in a competitive sense it would be a bit of a stretch to say this add-on is worth running currently. I think this change makes this add-on still very niche (after all, it's a brown) but having some use. For example, you can use it for info by throwing a purple bottle at a far-away generator and receive a notification if someone is there, helping with clown's struggle with map pressure. Decent for a brown.
VHS: Increases the size and spread of the afterpiece tonic clouds by 15% (was 10).
I think the rework they gave this add-on is good. Could just use a small buff.
Robin Feather: Increases bottle throwing charge speed by 50%.
Since clown already has a feather add-on I think this add-on should be reworked for the sake of variety and utility. This change keeps the essence of the old version (changing the speed of clown's bottle throws), but in a new way. This makes it to where you can throw further quicker, meaning less downtime and getting value from bottles quicker.
Party Bottle: Keep the same for the memes. (Also it's nice to have a meme/bloodpoint add-on with no downside.)
Kerosene Can: While clown is invigorated, survivors within 32 meters suffer from the blindness effect.
I think this add-on actually has a lot of potential. Sure, blindness isn't a big deal, but countering aura reading is pretty nice in certain situations. The problem with this add-on currently is how it is triggered, as it essentially requires you to be in chase with that survivor to activate; only countering perk that read the killer's aura in chase. This new version counters a lot more perks and actually becomes a pretty good add-on. It would also go pretty well with my rework of Tatoo's Middle Finger that I'll get to later.
Solvent Jug: Keep the same.
This is an example of a healthy add-on for clown's yellow bottles in his current state, as increasing the time of invigoration is good for clown's map control and can get you a hit or two sometimes, but not feel as unfair and cheap to use as sticky soda bottle or cheap gin bottle (not saying they are necessarily unfair though).
Starling Feather: Keep the same.
Sure, this add-on is not that good by itself, but considering I already reworked the other feather I figured I would keep one as is.
Sticky Soda Bottle: Increases clown's maximum bottle count by 1.
With sticky soda bottle becoming basekit combined with the uproar of how oppressive invigoration is at the moment, I think this add-on needs reworked, as that's what BHVR normally does when they make an add-on basekit (or tone it down at least). Giving clown an extra bottle is pretty good, but not unhealthy like this add-on currently is, especially considering the fact that reloading got buffed; making an extra bottle slightly less important.
Thick Cork Stopper: Keep the same.
Even though they made this basekit with 9.1.0, running this still isn't too oppressive but is useful. Good add-on.
Bottle of Chloroform: Increases the size and spread of the afterpiece tonic clouds by 25% (was 20).
Same reasoning as VHS. Combining the two can be quite good especially if you like using the tonic on vertical surfaces (EXTREMELY underrated aspect of clown by the way).
Flask of Bleach: Keep the same.
I think this add-on being toned down as much as it did is a good thing, as old Flask of bleach was quite over tuned, especially for a blue add-on. Considering they are making clown's purple bottles somewhat useful again I think this add-on is still good, and would be a good pairing for my reworked Robin Feather/Bottle of Bleach.
Smelly Inner Soles: Decreases the activation time of the Afterpiece Antidote by 0.3 seconds.
The current version is add-on is utter garbage (literally not even A QUARTER of what it used to be, which even then wasn't incredible). I think the recent changes clown has received has shown how useful clown's activation time for yellow bottles being lowered is, and I think this add-on would be pretty good.
Spirit of Hartshorn: Survivors affected by intoxication receive the oblivious status effect for 40 seconds.
I don't really know what to do with this add-on. I know it has its uses in its current state, but I still think it's not that good. This new version somewhat suffers from what Kerosene Can does now, as it would be quite niche and situational , but I think it could be useful in some ways. The time that the survivors are oblivious might need adjusting.
Sulphuric Acid Vial: Keep the same.
From what I understand, the main use for this add-on is to make healing speed after unhooking or healing a slugged player slower, as clown doesn't typically drop a chase for the survivor to heal afterwards. Pretty good add-on. Goes well with Leverage.
Cheap Gin Bottle: Keep the same.
I was debating whether to rework this, but considering sticky soda bottle got a rework I think keeping this what it is is fine. (If I were to rework it I would do the same thing I did to sticky soda bottle, but instead give Clown 2 extra bottles.) Good add-on for a purple.
Cigar Box: Invigorated players see the auras of all survivors within 10 meters (was 6).
I think the nerf to this add-on was too harsh, but the old version was also too strong. This change makes the add-on better for chases but takes a bit of the location device usage out of it compared to the old version, which is healthy in my opinion.
Ether 15%: Keep the same. Same reasoning as Flask of Bleach.
Garish Make-up Kit: Keep the same. Same reasoning as Solvent Jug.
Redhead's Pinkie Finger: Reduces the maximum amount of bottles to 4 (New sticky soda bottle doesn't work with this). When the clown has 1 bottle left in his inventory, hit a survivor directly with the bottle to expose them for as long as they are affected by the intoxication.
I think this change is exactly what this add-on needs, as it keeps part of the concept of the current version of Redhead's Pinkie Finger (reducing bottles for a buff), but is actually still useful. Sure, an add-on that exposes survivors can be considered unfair, but it is an iri, and I think the requirements for doing so with this change makes it okay. I'm much more in favor of this than the add-on for huntress.
Tattoo's Middle Finger: Reduces the maximum amount of bottles to 4 (New sticky soda bottle doesn't work with this). While invigorated, gain the Undetectable status effect.
The current version of this add-on is simply too weak for an iri, and this new version makes this add-on both interesting and strong. One of the main things survivors do to counter clown is pre-run, and this basically removes that. I think this add-on would be quite strong, but there would still be ways for survivors to notice clown (visibly seeing him, hearing his bottle shatter, etc). Overall I think this fixes this currently horrendous add-on.
