I'm tired of this game.
I usually enjoy this game, but after constant terrible balance changes and decisions, I'm just not finding much enjoyment anymore. Almost everything that I loved in this game has been either made irrelevant or just down right annoying to use. I love this game and don't want to just quit, but i don't really know what to do anymore. Does anyone have any advice on what to do? I would really appreciate it.

Could you emphasise a bit regarding the things that is troubling you?
Not to come off as rude or anything, but it is easier to give helpful advice when we know the root cause.
I could start by asking, are you primarily playing survivor or killer, and what is your playstyle? (perks, gameplay loop etc.)2 -
Sorry for not being specific. I usually play killer, skull merchant before her nerf. After her nerf, I dropped playing her for ghoul after he came out because I am a fan of Tokyo Ghoul, but people would be rude to me and i just lost my will to play him. I have swapped between killers (Unknown, Trickster, Springtrap and many more) but wasn't finding much enjoyment in playing them. So when the new killer came out, I was excited, but now she is just another ghoul situation where people be rude to you and give up because you play her. The final straw for me was the increase in pallets as it makes the killers i already enjoyed even worse. I hope this gives better info than i did originally.

I think Ghoul just suffers from players abusing his strength, which is why survivors seem to express a lot of hatred towards the players. The same rings true for Krasue, sadly. And the release buffs really didn't help that cause.. cough cough … hug-tech™
I too am a fan of the Tokyo Ghoul series, and I really liked the design of Kaneki, which is very true to the anime. Aside from the super annoying (and loud) screaming he does all the time, which made me get Rize instead. But back to the point. I think it also boils down to personal playstyle, like if you play with an "efficient" mindset or not (which means tunneling and such strategies), and the fact that these killers are heavily stigmatized by the community, for being very hard to counterplay against. Which is what happened with release Skull Merchant, and the infamous Chess Merchant build.
I too enjoyed the original Skull Merchant, but not for abusing 3-gen defense.
Even to this day, people really don't like Skull Merchant, even though Chess Merchant has been dead and buried for several years at this point.
Ghoul is just overtuned, and too easy to get free hits with his power. Once that is fixed, I think he would be in a much better spot, and not be that complained about. And the same is true for Krasue. They just made her way too easy to play, and the only counterplay gets nullified by two perks. That is the main debate around her at this point, and why people tend to DC if they see her in the game. The increase in pallets was more a band-aid fix to mitigate dead zones on certain maps, which is a change I support. Though, it also had the inverse effect of creating more "dead loops", so take that as you will.
Anyways, most of these pallets are pretty unsafe, and much easier to play around as compared to previous iterations. So if you have trouble with pallets, bring Brutal Strength and/or Fire Up.If you want to try a fun killer build, I would highly recommend Scratched Mirror Myers. It is too fun scaring the survivors, and the end-game chat is usually hilarious. Like these examples:
And lastly, do not take the rude comments personally. People are just tired of seeing overtuned killers in the game, that are frequently being played. Not to mention the postpones to the systems that were supposed to mitigate a lot of survivor frustration. All this has culminated into survivor players expressing a lot of frustration over the game. And like I said, don't take it personally, as it most likely has nothing to do with you, but the current state of the game.

Im an ex-die hard killer main. after about 3.5k hours of killer i got bored of the role and felt similar frustrations as you. That being said…if you want to have fun as killer again and avoid toxic survivors. I HIGHLY recommend goofy meme builds and playstyles. Not only are that incredibly fun but they're hilarious and every enjoys them post match.
Jump scare builds are a super fun and popular one to play as and play against. Scratched mirror myers is the go-to but i also get a lot of success with ghost face. With jump scare builds its not about the 4k…its about scaring the crap outta the survivors lol. I like to wait at teh top of the basement ominiously when someone goes down there. Or ill hide around a corner while they heel and smakc em once they leave. its so fun.
My scratched mirror mike:
Coup de Grace (really helpful for the tiny lunge)Haunted Grounds
Undying (gives you two uses of haunted grounds)
And whatever third perk. i usually do pop for slowdown.
My jump scare Ghostface:
nowhere to hidefranklins demise
weave attunement
Nurses calling
You can also use lethal and floods of rage. The goal is to just have constant aura reading for the spooks.
ill post some other funny/fun builds I enjoy.
Vault god Myers (hysterical vaulting this fast in chase and their reactions to it):
fire up
bamboozle
batteries included
superior anatomy
Backpack Trapper (so funny):
Agitation
iron grasp
Starstruck
infectious fright
I also run non-injuring traps but also the one that injures them if they disarm for the memes. Basically you carry around a survivor and one shot down their friends while holding them. I do surprisingly well with this build.
Dredge (I use this to try and get locker grabs because its funny):
Darkness revealed
Lethal pursuer
BBQ and Chilli
Friends till the end
For addons do whatever helps ya see ppl near lockers.
Stealthslinger (can be really funny):
Trail of torment
Hex: Plaything
Dark Devotion
Pop (slowdown)
Addon: iri coin
The point of this is to have no terror radious and snipe em when they dont expect it. In the hospital map in the main room. Its hilarious to hit the gen with trail of torment, go upstairs and watch the gen, then snipe em as they go to repair it. Its also unironically a good build and became my main death slinger build.
Working on trick shots with slinger is also fun.
Stealth Bubba (the best thing ever with snowmen):
Trail of torment
Hex: Plaything
Tinkerer
Weave attunement
Addon: Begrimed Chains (makes em drop their item when hit)
Basically you sneak up on em and their panic from an unexpected point blank bubba is hilarious. Even better during winter cuz you can sneak up to them in a snowman or out of it (they'll never know cuz no terror radius) and you pop out revving it.
Bubba Goes Where Bubba Pleases (Its viral right now):
Infectious fright
Forced hesitation
Lethal pursuer
floods of rage
addon: Iri flesh
You down a dude with the chainsaw and instantly get back all tokens. Infectious fright will tell you where the others are while forced hesitation hinders them so they cant get away. I get mixed results on this build.
Sniper StealthBilly:
BBQ
Gearhead
Tinkerer
Lethal
Addon: Apex Muffler (silent chainsaw when no terror radius)
Focuses on aura and no terror radius for teh unexpected cross map snipes.
Hag Build (this is just evil especially on midwitch):
Weave attunement
Frankies
Make ur choice
whatever fourth you want
Addon: Mint rag and Rusty shackles
Survivors LOVE their items. so were protecting them. make them lose their item then put a trap on it. The addons allow you to teleport to any no matter what and dont give them a notification if they trigger one. So you jumpscare em when they try and get the item back.
Heckin good boi Drac (You are only allowed to be a dog and use dog perks):
Beast of prey
Bloodhound
Territorial imperative
trail of torment cuz wolves are sneaky and stalk their prey
Addons: Whatever will help ur wolf form
I generally play as a dog and spare anyone who gives me pets or plays fetch with me. You can spam the power or A and D keys to wag ur tail.
Not so Wraith (You will lose but the confusion post game is funny):
Distressing
Unnerving presence
Unforeseen
dark devotion
Addon: The beast - soot
Basically despite being cloaked we still have a terror radius…but at least we can transfer it right?
other than that i kind of just think of silly builds and make all killers stealthy. Which is funny on nemesis and huntress cuz they're loud no matter what.
Otherwise you could try survivor but i owuld stay as far away from that as possible right now. The tunneling has been absolutley insane and there is only DS left to help out. But if you do..my "im gonna die but itll be funny" build is"
Scene partner
Quick and quiet
head on
blast mine
I like to 99 a gen…put blast mine on it…and when it stuns the killer i run up and pop em. The reactions can get pretty funny. And of course wear your craziest outfit. I have the mad hatter hat and shirt with ace's speedo.

There are two options: 1) play something else; or 2) try to improve your gameplay and don’t expect to win every match. With this mentality, I still have fun playing on both killer and survivor side.
Don’t get me wrong - there are things that frustrate me about the game. I would say the most frustrating thing for me by far is the nonfunctional matchmaking. A vast majority of my miserable survivor matches are not due to busted killers but due to bad teammates who refuse to work on gens and/or can’t last more than 10 seconds in a chase. I remember one recent match where I was being chased on The Game map for a good 2-3 minutes and by the time I finally got downed, I saw that none of my teammates had even made progress on any gens. When I see stuff like that, it reinforces my belief that “OP killers” are not the true problem with this game.-1 -
I play mainly killer and I love it when survivors sends butthurt messages. We actually love going back and reading messages cause I troll them back and I have a funny message that I send them that infuriates them more, and we end up laughing about it.
So don't take those messages seriously, troll them back. lol, its fun! :)

If you need a game in the dbd universe i highly recommend The casting of frank stone.
Sure it has its issues and it sometimes runs like crap but its a fun few hours regardless. And it really makes the lore of the entity work
As for dbd itself i can recommend just picking a fun killer (to you) and throwing winning out the window. For example whenever i play slinger my #1 goal is to hit cool shots
