I miss the early days of Dead by Daylight
Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about how the game used to feel. Back then, maps felt bigger, there were more places to hide, and the atmosphere was closer to an actual horror game. You could really feel the tension of being hunted, the dread of not knowing where the killer was, and the fear of making noise in the wrong spot.
Today, everything feels way too fast. Survivors die too quickly, generators fly by, and the overall pace leaves little room for that creeping horror vibe that made DBD so unique in the first place.
In my opinion, the game would be much healthier if matches lasted longer and gave more space for tension and atmosphere to build

DBD moved away from being a hide and seek game, because the players stopped treating the game as such. Trying to bring that aspect back won't make the game healthier.
Also, it doesn't matter if it's early DBD or current DBD, repetitiveness always kills any sense of dread and tension.
Frankly, there's room for both daytime and night time maps in this game, as horror doesn't only just take place during night time. Although with that said, i'm glad DBD moved away from how old Coldwind looked and if we ever get a night time variant of that realm again, i hope they don't bring back that yellow piss filter color tint it had.

If you games go too fast for you, perhaps your MMR is too high. But no, like having a glass of water is nice hiding, tunneling and camping is nice for a lil while but when everyone starts doing it the game progress halts and it becomes boring.
That or big maps favors Killers with mobility.

The game goes too fast,
not in the sense that I can’t keep up, but that it feels more frustrating when it’s fast than when it’s slow. Even as Killer, the most common complaint you hear is “gens fly too fast.”

I def prefer the old maps. They were darker and spookier and fit the vibe that DBD was trying to have. The fog offerings were actually useful back then.
I also miss the old matchmaking system built off ranks. It felt WAY more balanced and consistent than it does now. Im convinced the current ,matchmaking system is a lie and is a lottery system lol. Its so bad.

100% this. However, when this has been suggested in the past, for matches to be longer people complain that gens take too long and they are boring or theres little interaction. Thats why these days we end up getting fast paced, high speed killers and gens that fly, so people are always in the action. unfortunately this action has now almost flipped the genre of the game, its no longer a suspense driven, creepy, scary horror game that it used to be. wouldnt be surprised if the devs decide to give survivors guns and vehicles to keep up with the fast and furious style this game is becoming. Even the OG cutscene sequence with trapper and the survivors in a woodland area is misleading. survivors creeping around by a gen knowing the trapper is there and 1 steps on a branch…maybe it should have all survivors running franticly around a pallet with a blight zooming around the place instead, atleast that would be more accurate to the feel of the game.
