Add Distinct Damage Types
Currently |
I propose a new “Damage Type” system that uses the current health states but adds minor secondary effects depending on the damage type. This would not break current gameplay but would add tactical depth and open opportunities for new perks. |
Proposed classification: |
Damage Type Current Killers / Examples Suggested Effect on Survivors |
Blunt (heavy hits) Oni (Kanabō) |
Slash (knives/claws) Trapper |
Pierce (harpoons/projectiles) Deathslinger |
Acid / Disease Plague |
Burn (fire/chemical) Hypothetical killers with fire or electricity Cannot heal for a few seconds |
Freeze (ice) Hypothetical cold-themed killers Brief slowdown of movement or interaction speed when hit. |
Benefits of this system: |
Diversifies gameplay without changing the two-hit base system. |
Strengthens each killer’s unique identity. |
Allows perks that interact with specific damage types. |
Increases aesthetic variety with new visual effects. |
Opens the door to thematic killers (ice creatures |
How it would work: |
Survivors still go from healthy to injured with a hit |
Debuffs would last briefly (3–5 seconds) to maintain balance. |
New perks could mitigate certain damage types (“Cold Resistance |
Conclusion: |
This system would give Dead by Daylight an extra layer of strategy and personality for each killer. It leverages existing lore and abilities while reinforcing immersion. |
