Neither side can effectively use the event power
A big issue with the event is that getting the void powers is too inconvenient for both sides. On Survivor if you get hit, you lose so much progress, and you build progress so slowly, that you need to play really safely and slowly to consistently have enough void energy to get the crystals. As Killer you need to commit a lot of time to get the power, during which gens are completely uncontested and you basically lose all pressure.

Only half true. Killers just have to do what they always do: run around and hit survivor. Survivor just have to do gens, but are negatively affected as soon as they get chased and are totally rekt if you they go into the void.

For Survivor at least (haven't played Killer this event), it's all risk and no reward. At best the crystals are somewhere between BNP and Potential Energy on gens (i.e. it's better to just be on the gen than rely on the crystal to do it) and detonating them is as useful as Fog Vials (aka not at all). The Void is definitely more dangerous than it used to be as well. So the only real motivation to do it is completing challenges for Felix's outfit.
