Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Hillbilly's Chainsaw

Playing survivor I can see the loudness of the chainsaw to be an "oh crap" as it gets louder while the killer quickly closes in on your location.

Playing killer I can't see the point of having that deafening chainsaw blowing my eardrums out. I know it's supposed to be loud and scary, but I am holding the darn thing. Why DOES it need to be so loud to the killer.

My favorite add-on are quickly becoming both muffling add-on. Sound wise it becomes enjoyable to play Hillbilly.

Doubt they will change this and survivors that hate Hillbilly might say "good, go deaf or play someone else (less powerful)" I thought it might be an interesting discussion.

It's accurate to what it sounds like when you're actually using a chainsaw. That thing is loud as heck.

I don't believe it would make sense for it to be less loud to the killer, but it would be nice as he is usually using it half the time.

i think Lessing the sound of Myer's map and the chainsaw (for the killer) would be nice

The chainsaw is too loud? That's weird, I can barely hear it while I have "Speedy Runner" playing.

Getting into the HaddonFeild map was a huge ######### moment. No idea why they thought "Hey this is not loud enough" . . . "Well let's turn it UP"

The chainsaw sound change would just be nice. As I mentioned the sound reducing add-on's for the chainsaw make Hillbilly more enjoyable to play, he is still fun. Though that chainsaw is ungodly loud when you already have sound turned up in general to hear the little things.

Its not like we're asking to remove this sound, at 70-80% it would still drown out anything else but wouldnt make our ears bleed.

I like it, silent billy confuses me since i tap to the same rhythm. :)

I actually think it should be louder for survivors too. So they can hear how far away he is and which direction, when he uses the chainsaw. That would balance out his map control with survivors map control and close the gap between solo survivors and swf ("billy is over here").

I would rather not hear the killers' insanely loud breathing when I'm playing them. Nurse is absolutely egregious on that front, and she can drown out survivors' movements and whines.

i dont have any problems with that...
maybe if you turn down the overall game volume?

also, the chainsaw is that loud to prevent billy from hearing survivors during his sprint.
silencing it would give good players the ability to be able to tell when somewhere next to them the grass made some noise and therefore catch survivors out much easier (during the sprint, obviously xD)

I never said anywhere I want to silence it. Even with how loud it is you can easily hear cries of pain and gens being done. It's simply too loud without the add-on's making it quieter. To have to listen to it at that volume seems needless only to make your ears blow up.

Turning down the game volume defeats the purpose of having it turned up, to hear everything else in the game.

The nurse shriek right after a blink is quite loud as well, She isn't as bad as billy, but she is up there in the annoyingly loud department.

Yeah turn down volume. Thats the issue, killers deliberately choosing to deafen themselves /s

Sound engine "upgrades" screw up sounds, devs "fix" them so that survivors get quieter while your own stuff gets louder, twice.

The first time i heard a survivor breathe was after playing them myself after being killer only after getting into the game.
Since it was claudette i was rather suirprised
How loud she is, for the player controlling her.

If the game is so accurate I ask you why survivors can recover after a chainsawbhit through their upper body

I don't mind the attempt at realism. From a survivor prospective the sound serves it's purpose as a locator and a bit of fear factor. As killer, you can still hear injured survivors and gens getting repaired. So the loudness of the chainsaw can't be to cover up survivor noises.

The question remains what is the purpose of it being so loud to the killer. Even if it is accurate to the real sound, in reality I wouldn't hold a chainsaw next to my face at max revs sprinting forward.

Highly doubt it'll be changed, but it would be a nice QoL while playing Billy.
