What's the point of having an increased terror radius?
Hello, i noticed that a few people think that on some killers having an increased terror radius can be helpful, why is that?
I do think that's only good on the doctor (distressing perk) but no one else, some people think that monitor and abuse is good on some killers(maybe for the sight thing but it doesn't seem like a huge boost to me).
What do you guys think?

Some perks benefit from terror radius like the clowns perk with slow healing or the plagues perk where survivors scream upon downing a survivor with M1. And in the noob ranks they’ll hop off generator as soon as terror radius comes so less gen time being done.

M&A perk reduces your TR while you are not in chase, so it helps to get closer to survivors without beeing spoiled by heartbeat. While in chase your TR will be much bigger, and will confuse other survivors. Also you can couple it with perks like Unnerving, so while you in chase with one survivor, others will suffer from small skill checks and can mess them up and blow gens.
Many M1 killers can benefit from lower TR while not in chase.
For example:
Mayers with M&A at EW1 has 0m TR which with certain addon is really scary at maps like Lery's or Game.
Freddy with Brush and M&A has 0 TR and he can see survs aura always while not in chase.
Legion will have 16m TR coupled with his low profile - helps to sneak on survs, and while in chase and Frenzy his TR 16m larger - he can see other ppl from bigger distance.
There are more, but you could think of them yourself.

A big terror radius can be disorienting for survivors. If it's big enough on certain maps they'll have no idea where you are.

Combine it with perks and map offerings that synergize with it (e.g. the game map), otherwise don't run it on non-doctor killers imo.

Like others said, may confuse survivors, and extend the range of TR based perks. But frankly, most TR based perks are not that great, so, unless you're trying to farm Deviousness points, it makes no sense using Distressing on anyone else than Doc.
I want to add though, I had a lot of fun with this Wraith build:
- Distressing
- Overcharge
- Brutal Strength
- Unnerving Presence
Use The Beast: Soot addon, so you have a TR even when cloaked, and Jigsaw Piece offering. Not saying it's any guarantee for a 3-4K but you can make the game very stressful for survivors :)

It can be extremely disorienting for survivors but the only killer I run Distressing on is Doctor for obvious reasons. I don’t like Distressing otherwise because I run into WAY too many survivors who lick walls, crouch by the corners of the map, and are extremely immersed. It’s so boring.
I would much rather run a small terror radius build than a large terror radius build.
I’ll run M&A on Hag. I like it on Hag because it gives her a very small terror radius and it is very easy to sneak up on survivors without them running away so quickly.

Having a larget TR can be quite useful in a lot of situations for certain killers. Slower Killers with big TR can enter chases quicker and maintain the chase status at longer distances from the survivor. This means they get their speed gain and bloodlust more consistently. TR based affects also get better usage out of a larger TR.

They are a few effects that can be applied and played around with, but I primarily believe its a feature for the survivor's benefit. Even with the existence of detection perks, some survivors need to be coddled with baseline early alerts.

some killers and perks can benefit from a large terror radius like Dark Devotion even though it isn't that great but there are also killers like Legion that benefit from Killer Instinct although it honestly wouldn't be that great on him.

Increased terror radius also makes it hard to gauge weather the Killer is actually near or on you or not. It can trigger Survivors to leave the safety of their hiding places thinking their being chased when they're not.

The only killer who can really benefit from a larger TR in general is the Doctor. For all the other killers, a big TR is only for gimmick fringe builds.
