Kill Switch update: We have temporarily Kill Switched the Forgotten Ruins Map due to an issue that causes players to become stuck in place. The Map will remain out of rotation until this is resolved.

Why Pig's Ambush SHOULD Count as a Basic Attack

Ok so I've been in MClean's Discord and I kind of understand why they changed Pig's Ambush in terms of similiar killer mechanics.

For this that don't know, the nerf was the result of BHVR trying to streamline Killers powers into Basic Attack or not. Essentially, if you use your power, and the results end with you using M1 to lunge at the survivor to hit them, then you are allowed to have your power count as a basic attack. So Wraith, Hag, Freddy, Nurse, etcetera are fine, however Huntress, Plague, Trapper, Doctor, Hillbilly, Cannibal, etcetera are not.

Looking at the above list of killers, in many regards it makes sense. Trapper uses his traps to hurt people for his power, not his machete (Note: he CAN but this is for the purpose to explaining the powers counting). Plague and Huntress both have their ranged attacks to hit survivors so that certainly can't count. Doctor doesn't injure at all with his zap, so it makes sense the zap doesn't count. The iffy ones are Cannibal and Hillbilly as they too are melee attacks, but it makes sense that they DON'T as the saw it results in a one-hit-KO.

Then you have Pig. Obviously the Ambush does not fall into the "Use Power Then M1" because like Hillbilly and Cannibal, her power requires you to charge the ambush, and then you accelerate forward. There are three key differences between Pig and the Saw Brothers, though and one difference between her specifically one of them. One is, unlike the Saw users, Pig can have an altered rate of acceleration. If you do not hold down forward movement while using it, your speed is almost non-existent. This is a major difference between the Saw people as once you're going you are GOING at full speed until you either hit something or cancel/run out of the Saw power. Number two: while faster then base movement, it can not outrun Sprint Burst like effects. This is more of a comparing her specifically to Hillbilly as his Saw can outrun it but Cannibal and Pig can not. Three: usage of her Ambush and colliding with a downed pallet will not result in the breaking of that pallet. I mean that makes SENSE due to the nature of her weapon, but it is neccessary to point out all differences. Lastly, and this is the KEY difference. Pig's Ambush does not result in a one-hit down.

Yes you have stealth, but you also have a GREATLY reduced PoV and movement speed. To the point the point of speed, when I was testing to see what perks worked and what ones didn't, I saw that I actually could not catch survivors that were sprinting away normally while I was Crouching. Survivors that were baseline running were faster then me. I couldn't see things as easily due to muddled up field-of-view due to the border around my screen and the grass in my face. Tack onto the fact as well you have the roar which truthfully negates any real usage of the Ambush at safe loops and pallets because once survivors hear it, anyone with half a brain can respond accordingly. It's really a jumbled up mess. People already didn't use the Ambush unless it was the initial strike or if they were guaranteed the hit. Now they have less reason to.

You have ALL of these negative points for her and none of the benefits that the killers that she is being put into the category of all have. She is a M1 killer through and through, and she is being forced to exist in the ranks of killers who have powers to supercede that issue.

Please. Either rescind your choice to put Pig into this category or make her Ambush function like Spirit's except you can press M1 while dashing for the hit as opposed to having to end the Ambush. Pig already has a lot going against her and removing so much potential hurts her even more.

Aimbush attack isn't considered as basic attack so it doesn't remove your Save the best for last stacks.

Ambush also doesn't give Remember Me stacks, add stacks to STBFL, apply Dark Devotion, Third Seal, Franklin's Demise, give stacks of MoM to survivors and will apparently soon no longer apply Sloppy Butcher.

i actually like this "nerf" i've been able to down my obsession with 8 stacks and it feels so good when i do it, and in general, remember me stacks can be gained by just uncrouching and smacking them, same with dark devotion, i never ambush someone at a generator, instead i uncrouch and get a chance to pull them off.

In some regards though, you're proving my point. The Ambush itself had little point to begin with and was merely used to get up close, but never in turn activated except in certain cases. While YES you can now kill your Obsession with Ambush and keep all your STBFL stacks, that's literally the only good thing to come of this. That and it requires you to land not one but two Ambushes on said Obsession to drop them in the first place and repeat the Ambush tunnel until they're dead. This is also assuming that no one else brought D-Strike to take the Obsession role and now apply it to themselves, which does happen frequently in matches. Should this happen, you're once again needing to Ambush the NEXT Obsession down repeatedly while the remaining survivors crank out generators.

And that's only the use of one perk. The change to Ambush has now rendered NUMEROUS perks almost obsolete. I've posted this list around a few times, but here's the full run down:

    Does Work:

Anything that offers 'Exposed,' and Sloppy Butcher.

    What Does Not:

Save The Best For Last (can not gain or lose stacks), Hex: The Third Seal, Remember Me (can not gain stacks), Dark Devotion, Franklin's Demise, Mettle of Man (can not gain stacks as survivor)

    What shouldn't even be tried:

Play With Your Food. You lose tokens the moment you activate the ambush, whether you fully charge it or not.

like you said, the ambush attack was already useless, and honestly none of these perks you mentioned are frequently used like third seal or dark devotion and even mettle of man, so i don't find it much of an issue for me since i never use these perks and i never ambush, ambush in general is only good at pallet loops, however some people can find it to be an issue.
