care to share your experience with the 3.5.0 update? I'm curious.

You need to be good in other games to enjoy them, just saying.
You may like this one though:

That's kinda why DBD is so unpleasant, you have to be pretty good at it to basically be allowed to play.
Doesn't make for a very good or healthy game imo.
3 -
You only need to know the basics to enjoy the game on both sides, really.
Here I wrote my arguments for survivors a while ago:
0 -
Survivor, yes, killer Nooooo. If you only know basics as killer you will get wrecked and bullied so hard, so often.
Survivor is pretty straight forward, and I've had no problem picking that up.
Killer? It's been a ******* nightmare of a time and I've literally uninstalled and reinstalled DBD 4 times so far because of it.
It's probably one of the most difficult, frustrating experiences I've ever had in a game...which is really disappointing because I literally only got into the game because it had Demogorgon in it and playable, and still that is the only thing keeping me even trying.
You have to play everything PERFECTLY, or else the match is just over, and you can't recover from it. Meanwhile when I play survivor, even if I can't run the killer all I need to do is sprint burst to the far corner with no objectives, and if I go down like 2 gens pop because of it. The gap between the two roles is canyon wide.

Dead by Daylight is just Scary Movie series in a video game format

White Noise 2 is a good game.
1 -
There aren't that many good survivors to bully you, really. All you need to do is to learn how to quickly locate survivors (Whispers), how to not waste time in jungle gyms (takes trial and error) and how to put pressure on maps (choose 3 gens with as less windows as possible, it doesn't take long to learn).

I watched Morf's stream yesterday. Just see how often he errs, and still there wasn't a single game he didn't at least 2k. Kinda disproves your claim.
0 -
Takes more than half a year apparently.
0 -
Yeah, Rust is a good game.
If you like CoD zombies: I suggest you play either Bo1, Bo2, or Bo3 zombies
For scary games, I suggest White Noise 2, and maybe Last Year
I'll also suggest War Thunder (basically a more realistic WoT in terms in mechanics)
You also could play Star Wars Battlefront 2 (2005) or the new one.
0 -
How do you mean?
0 -
No it doesn't, if anything that solidifies it.
I also know it because I am living it, literally first hand experienced it. Then the way the community throws people down the stairs who are struggling to get into the game, it's no wonder they don't actually talk about it.
0 -
Because I've been playing for a while I have around 600+ hours, but I still am struggling. I don't know why I keep trying, maybe because I hope it WILL get better, but it doesn't, I still don't enjoy it most of the time because I am just a punching bag for people.
I picked up survivor easily, I actually have a chance most games, it's not stressful at all most of the time except sometimes in solos. I hit red rank within two weeks of picking up survivor. The difference is night and day.

Mass effect 2

Then git gud? What else can I say, lots of killers (me included) don't have the problems you have, instead of complaining about the game here, you could have played a couple of games or watched how other people do it.
0 -
If you were trying you would have improved. When I had 600 hours I had no problems whatsoever, even though survivors back then were way more stronger than they are right now.
0 -
This is what I mean, it's like talking to a brick wall. Sorry I'm not good enough to be allowed to play the damn game as killer, sorry that bothers you so much.
This is literally the **** I am talking about.
1 -
You could try rainbow six siege although that game is aneurysm inducing as well
0 -
All this is doing is reinforcing exactly what I've been saying. No one listens, everyone is too high up on their horse to admit that MAYBE there might be some issues. No one wants to listen, they would rather trash on other people, try and make them feel bad.
It's not just a game problem, it's a community problem. DBD has one of the most unwelcoming, disheartening ones I've ever seen.

Imagine you were playing any other competitive game, sucking in it and complaining the same way you do right now. Yes, you aren't allowed to have fun games if you don't try to even learn how to play it. What's wrong with it?
0 -
Why would you use somebody elses experience to disprove another player? Just because one person can, doesn't mean everybody else can.
3 -
This content has been removed.
-
Yes, I see how you try to find the issues in the game and try to convince everyone that they are here and need to be addressed. But you could have tried to learn how to play around them instead.
There will always be issues, whether it's DBD or not, you can complain about them too, or you can simply learn how to work around them and minimize the damage (just look at yourself and think, really).
0 -
I can use my own experience too, but I can't illustrate it as easily as showing Morf's games - he is terrible at playing killer, and still he wins every single game. Enough of a proof for me.
0 -
haha dont play last year why? because steamcharts despite being a better game than dbd.
1. sekiro (goty 2019)
2. csgo
3. siege
4. half life games are free until alyx releases if you havent played them already
5. preorder re3 (april 3 2020)

i dont recommend cod. you need a beast rig and its not as good as mw2 or mw3
7. star wars bf2 is fun and EA fixed it. i recommend it on a console because it might be more alive there. not like its dead though i still have it

You literally ignored everything I said, with nothing but the sole purpose of trying to insult me and talk down to me dude, I'm not responding to you. There is a clear night and day difference for me from the survivor and killer roles both, at least based on my personal experience so far. If that isn't the same for others, good for them, but for me it is, and rather than listen to why or try and actually help- you've just been trying to beat a dead horse.
If you actually want to listen and have a discussion, sure, but it's clear you don't have any intention of that, so I have no interest in continuing.
0 -
No one is insulting you. If you are a bad at the game it doesn't mean you a bad as a person or something. What kind of an answer did you expect?
*Oh, year, sure, the game is broken I can't kill a single survivor. Why devs have been nerfing killers for more than 5 years now? Hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate, hate*
Was it close?

In all fairness, typically other competitive games will match people of similar skill lvls. If I keep losing in matches of Overwatch for example, my rank goes down until I'm up against people of my skill lvl and I start winning again. In dbd, due to how the matchmaker is and how the emblem system is... thats not really the case. I could have back to back 4 escapes, but depending on the killer I'm using... could still rank up or at least black pip. Thats assuming its putting me against ppl even remotely CLOSE to my rank.
1 -
Before DBD I used to play in Quake Live quite a lot. There wasn't any meaningful rank system whatsoever (if you play only pubs of course), at first experienced players annihilated me with scores close to 40/0 or something (yes, they killed me 40 times without dying even once), but after a while I learned how to play the game and was quite good in it (at least in pubs, actually any really good player would outplay me with the same score).
The point I want to make is that the problem is not with the game itself, yes, there are issues, issues on both sides actually, but you can play around them, you can learn. And you can get quite good. It just takes patience.
I agree with matchmaking though. Now the most baffling thing for me is that I play on Russian servers all the time, even though German ones should be as close. Maybe fixes to that will greatly reduce queue times and make matchmaking a little bit more bearable. At least I hope so.
1 -
Feel like with your Quake experience, your likely to have noticed success when you too can beat up on newbies who have no business playing against you. The goal of a game with a rank system is to pair you against people of similar skill, so it neither feels too easy or frustratingly too difficult. With Overwatch, if I cant hit the broad side of a barn...thats ok. Its a video game, it'll just put me against OTHER people who cant hit the broad side of a barn and I can enjoy the game without feeling like a sacrificial lamb. With DBD... getting a billion stabs as Legion will rank you up, even if you didnt kill anyone. Thats like doing abunch of junk dmg on Overwatch which just results in feeding the enemy healer's ult. Meanwhile, if you manage to end games/chases fast with a "headshot" (a 1 hit down ability) The game doesnt see that as the impressive thing to do and will put ya against the same people over and over again.
These matches ended in about 2 minutes in 4ks...
This of course is assuming that the matchmaker works appropriately at all and you dont get one of these...
Theres nothing for these killer's to really learn from these matches. This would be like getting a new game, only to get spawnkilled by a sniper over and over... You're not learning anything and are probably just gonna put the game down.

I've bought R6S and have much much better time than I had with this mess. Ubisoft actually hears people's opinion. Remind me to comeback when they fix their dumb matchmaking
0 -
As I said I do agree that there is a problem with matchmaking, even though it's really strange - there are at least 20k players playing this game right now, and it takes only 5 people to start a game, but it's really hard to find it on both low and high level ranks. Maybe it's because region searches are too restrictive, or maybe there is something else to it, only devs can tell.
But most of the threads now do not discuss it, people complain how their lives are now broken without Ruin, which, in turn, causes more experienced part of the playerbase to point out that Ruin is not as essential as one might think and the only thing they have to prove it, yes, their experience, which, in turn, causes the other part to complain even more because only answers they've got are "git gud" and "improve yourself", which, in turn, ... you got the idea.
And that's sad.

I am not a new killer, and have reached red ranks before. But when I have been playing on xbox, where my rank has reset all the way down to brown ranks because I have not played in ages, I am still getting red rank / purple rank survivors to face.
I can see how newer killers would be getting absolutely stomped right now.
1 -
I feel like due to its asymmetrical nature, its also alot harder to really gauge skill lvl. In Overwatch, the sides are even so its very likely a team of ppl with an SR of 3000 will be of similar skill as another team of SR 3000. With DBD, even if you get 5 rank 2s in a lobby...are they really the same skill lvl? Its been known that the majority of Overwatch's playerbase plays in gold (between SR 2000-2500) so If your playing at 3000...your above average. With DBD though, feels like you gotta TRY to stay out of purple and red. If the average is that far advanced in the available rankings, that doesnt leave much room for the really good players to distance themselves. Overwatch's Top 500 arnt gonna find themselves in gold matches, but DBD's top players can very easily find themselves facing average players here.

It is going downhill
0 -
Yes, I don't think there are polished ranking systems for asymmetrical games, as there are for other multiplayer games (ELO as an example). But AFAIK devs never tried to implement one. (Introducing Emblems is definitely a step in the right direction, but it's not enough). Also rank resets are annoying - in other competitive games it usually happens twice a year (if at all), so not to mix players with different skill levels that much. Can't say the same about DBD.
0 -
No, it's not. :p
0 -
That' is not true. I recommend you to watch some tutorials for killers on YouTube. Especially ScottJunds Tutorial is pretty nice.
Killer is way more strategic than playing survivor, but you don't to play perfect.
(It's kinda sad how the gamers nowadays doesn't want challenges. They just want to be perfect within seconds and thats it...)
0 -
I just feel like there should really be more to separate the average player from the top players. In regards to OP, its ok to be average...or even below average. It really sucks though when you get players in your match that are ABOVE average because the ranking system is too limited to separate them. I feel like thats what OP was getting at. They want to be able to enjoy a video game without the matchmaker putting them against people way out of their league. I can definitely understand that.
0 -
So now we need to somehow raise awareness of the problem. Any idea how to do that? :D
0 -
Nothing that hasnt been said 1000 times before unfortunately. Theres always been PLENTY of posts about people trying to avoid red ranks cuz they dont belong there, or people saying they have red rank potatoes on their team, ect. One major difference I do see between this and Overwatch... Overwatch looks at results only. It doesnt care if you were the best player out of the 12 in that match, but just couldnt carry hard enough... You lose the match, you lose SR. With DBD, how many people die but still pip up?
0 -
It went up a little bit but not much
0 -
You are so on point with that sprint burst remark. The only reason 99% of matches are wins or losses is if there was a survivor that knew this stupid simple tactic.
