Can Someone Explain the Matchmaking

I had this game today and it just didn't feel fair. I was sweating like crazy only to realize that I wasn't even on an even playing field. The fact I got one kill and pip'd is an accomplishment.

What's going on with the matchmaking is there a new bug this patch?

    Wow, I've seen a lot of crap in the forums but this has to be the worst matchmaking I have ever seen honestly, that's really fked up.

    And to answer your questions no, this is not new at all. Actually, it's been like this for a long time and they're aware of the situation but they're not doing crap about it.

    Yes there is an issue with matchmaking. There has been since they made some changes pre the Christmas holidays which seemed to widen the search more so low ranks are getting high ranks a lot.

    They are working on it and a fix it coming anf hopefully will have some info to share on that at some point next week. (It not guaranteed for next week but im hopeful)

    The matchmaking has been especially bad lately and I completely feel for you seeing that you're a rank 17. Im a rank 12 and I go against all red rank survivors normally (Ranks 1-4). It has to do with several reasons. One, there aren't enough red and purple rank killers to go around, and two, survivors are generally much higher rank than they should be from playing against killers much lower ranked than they are (a problem that makes itself worse over time). OhTofu did a good video about his theories on why matchmaking isn't great and it has to do with several innocent sounding changes to the way matchmaking is done and the way rank reset works. I really do feel for you because games like that you feel completely powerless

    Not new to the patch. I had games like that when I was rank 18 killer, and has been consistent ever since. MM is broken. They have said that a patch will be coming within the next few weeks.

    It doesn't only follow what rank you have, I imagine it follows other factors. Like current "winning" streak, and what character. Because I can play 10 matches as my P3 Feng, win every time. Then each match I am facing a rank 2 Killer. Then the moment I switch to my P3 Steve, 2 matches later i'm against a rank 8-12 killer again. If I play a new survivor, after a few matches suddenly i'm against green-yellow rank killers.

    I feel like what character you have selected when you enter que, partially determines the players you are gonna face, or be on a team with - based on recent matches.
