Just A Bit Frustrated
Just got out of a game with Legion, feeling a bit frustrated, so I apologize if this seems biased, it probably is.
I'm just not sure what I am supposed to do at this point. The Survivors sent me to a Coldwind map, I thought, "well, alright, we'll see what I can do." I got Rotten Fields, fun times. Corrupt helped a little, the Survivors mostly hid, I finally found someone and hit them with FF. Found two other Survivors, CI ran out.
2.5-3 minutes later, 3 gens have popped. I've down the first person. I think, alright, no biggie, I just gotta get a sweet 3-gen going. 3 seconds after I leave the hook, the guy gets saved. I go back, hit him, he has BT. I go after the unhooker. It's a fairly short chase, he messes up Dead Hard. Hook him and think wow, its turning around. Another gen pops. Two people injured, one on hook, the other healthy. I think its going my way.
Someone slow vaults a window next to the hooked guy, I grab him, get hit by DS, he unhooks the other guy who bodyblocks me from hitting his friend, the last gen pops, they all get Adrenaline and escape.
I'm just not sure what I was supposed to do. Logistically, gens go too fast for me to be able to hook everyone.
I also got called a "trash baby Killer" and got spammed with trashcan emoji's after the match. Was fun coming from a team using Commodious (no add-ons) and they all had Prove Thyself.

Gens definitely go too fast. This morning i lost 2 gens roughly 40-45 seconds into the match.
1 of those gens popped so fast i couldn't cross the map in time to stop it as spirit despite immediately going for it as i spawned because i knew they'd spawn there...

We know. Devs don't care. They already said in their Q&A that you should only have 3 gens to work with, since you need to give up two gens to survivors. Plus, they want to get rid of slow down perk synergy. Six minute matches is too long for them.So long as they keep their survivor cash cows happy, they're okay with it.

I don't think they said that. They said that it is okay if two gens pop early, if I recall correctly. I think they do care, if they didn't they game would exist.

They mean there's no real way to stop people just messaging you, same as PS4. All we can do is turn off notifications for unknown messages from non-friends.

I'm not really angry. I was when it happened, but I'm not now. I'm just looking back and I'm trying to think of something I could have done that would have allowed me to win, and I'm not finding anything.
It just feels like, in that game, I had no chance.

4k with 2 gens left.
I was playing spirit. If i was playing Clown/Wraith/Legion/LF/Plague and so on i would've been destroyed by that situation.

I was definitely frustrated, but not angry. They weren't being toxic or anything in game.

Because the idea is while the survivors are doing the first 2 gens you’re chasing and going for a hook. Also the gens that pop the fastest are normally the outside gens which are irrelevant.

So, you got a 4K. And you still complain? Did you pip?
I mean, what did those two Gens matter in the end? And well, you dont know if you would not have had a Win with another Killer (surely not compareable to Spirit, but a 3K minimum should be realistic)

A hook. Which is about 8% of your objective. While, on the other hand, Survivors have done 40% of theirs.
That doesn't work logistically. It should be like, 15-20% to 40%

I was frustrated at the end when they were t-bagging in the exit gates and refusing to leave. Like, yeah, go on, you won.

I think it is fair to say that you would not have gotten a 4K with Clown or Legion in that situation.

It was sadly fun for me - when you FF on legion it better to take pallet stun instead of just end FF, because pallet stun is shorter)

I don't mean this sarcastically, but maybe take a small break. Don't get yourself to the point where you want to delete the game.
I agree though. Gen speeds are way too damn fast. I was playing with a friend of mine earlier and we were constantly knocking gens out of the ball park.

Your frustration is a direct result of the devs' ineptitude.
Maybe if the game was balanced properly games wouldn't have to be so frustrating for killers.

They're 'okay' with two gens popping early. That's my point. On maps the size that we have, most killers will almost always have two gens go in the first two minutes. That doesn't detract from my point. You're basically going through a match with only three gens you can work with. I'll clarify about them not caring. They do, but only with what will bring them the most money, which is new players. It's why they attempt to balance around said new players. It's a short term goal with no real long term benefit.

Yes i complain because it wasn't me that won the match it was survivor mistakes. I lost 2 gens in well under a minute i had 11 hooks to go with 3 gens left.
I did pip but the results don't matter to me its that the situation existed in the first place. I could handle it in that instance but will i the next time?
I could also go out and beat killers using moris/insta downs would those not be bad because i pipped/escaped?
Unfun situations like that should never pop up for either side.

The way I see it is that you want an even easier 4K. It does not matter at all how many Gens are done early, as long as not all Gens are done. The new Gatekeeper Emblem even does not punish that anymore in such a hard way as it did before.
Its simply outright ridiculous that players get comfortable 4Ks and still complain about two Gens done really early, which is simply the case when
a) the Gens were on the other side of the map and
b) Survivors spawn together 99% of the time (which is a bad thing, but it happened since one patch and was never changed since then)

I went against a Freddy earlier. We had 3 gens done before he even had a hook. We never got another gen done after that.
Bad survivors yadda yadda but the point is the killer puts out more pressure later, and the later gens are easier to protect. They’re likely to be closer to the centre, the killer has less gens to patrol, and Pop can be extremely powerful at defending gens.

Imo, all coldwind farm maps should me reworked (mainly the size) and rotten fields should be removed (litteraly not even kidding)

Ok then lets ignore that its me if you think me wanting 4ks is the issue.
Would this kind of start be fun to a new player climbing the ranks for the first time?
New player fresh out of the gets hit with this:
Will they have fun? Will they want to continue playing?
It's demoralizing. Starting the match and losing ANY gens before a hook feels bad. Especially if its out of your control to stop it.

I've lost to terrible survivors who throw the best pallets at the start of the game, run into dead ends and get downed, and all sorts of bad plays....just because they had toolboxes and could do gens faster than I could possibly patrol.
It's not as powerful (so don't chew me out saying I said that it was), but it's in the same vein as a mori, it shortens your objective to a point that you have a massive advantage over the other side.

Come on, you even used only 2 Perks...
And well, new players will get there eventually. But ideally they play vs Players who are not that good, because I guess you are Red Ranks.
And if they play vs Players who are better than they are (and this is a fact, that also Survivors can have Skill, even tho some people seem to forget that), then they derank and have players with (more) equal Skill Level as opponents.
Killers these days are really special.

Fair enough but you should at least have enough time to check gens without them popping.
2 gens by the time you can cross the map is crazy and is why so many killer players complain.
I picked the gen with people on it to immediately go to and still lost it.

as a survivor i either get chased all game because i get matched with rank 16 killers or i just do gens and the game goes way too fast its not even fun. the ruin nerf was extremely unnecessary and this is coming from someone who mains survivor lol

Takes 44 seconds with 2 survivors on a gen so that means for almost a full minute u weren't finding anyone? And as spirit?? Lmfao😂

You're joking right? I went straight to them in the video...It took 30 seconds just to get there while phasing with add-ons in a straight line there.
2 gens pop before i could even physically get to the gens to stop them despite going for that specific gen the moment i spawned.

When I derank as killer and hide in the basement. 4 survivors, unchecked, can do 5 gens in like 3 minutes. Again, unchecked cause I'm hiding in the basement, but still 3 minutes. I play mobile games that last longer.
Don't listen to what people say, it's obvious that the devs prefer the potato survivors side. Loads of evidence in and out of their Q&A stream.
Take this as advice. Personally, I don't give 2 shits about rank. Made it to red rank once, stopped enjoying the game. If devs want to hold survivor hands, then I'll just ruin the baby survs (yellow rank) games.

3 gens pop before first hook, bye Felicia or facecamp. Not worth the time. It doesn't happen often, usually 2 or 3 engineer toolboxes, prove thyself, and maybe a brand new part. Its a depip either way, and survivors dc on me more than 10 to 1, a good portion on first down or first hook. You go 12 hooks on a 4k, you still get survivors dc'ing on their 3rd to spite the killer. You intentionally give survivors free unhooks at red ranks and get called camper/tunneler and still have 2 dc's if you outplay them. A lot of the TTV players tend to dc if they are playing like #########, or they have their friends take a down and dc so the TTV player gets hatch.

Getting a 4k after 2 or more gens pop almost instantly is not a comfortable 4k, its usually a sweat fest, and the result of the survivors/swf playing too altruistically. If the survivors were smart about their gen strat, they will break up any chance at a 3 gen strat by choosing which 2-3 gens are completed first. Survivors 3 gen themselves, the killer doesnt 3 gen anyone.
2-3 gens going before first hook against an optimal swf running DS, BT, Adrenaline and another perk, means those other 2-3 gens are getting done while that one player sits on hook and they all bodyblock to unhook him after 99'ing the gates.
