Am I the only one who lets myself die on hook if I get to second state on the first hook?

As the title says am I the only one? It gets very frustrating playing with potatoes and if they let me get to second state WITH kindered they don’t deserve my help

######### like this is why I only play survivor with friends now. I've died on the first hook because no one came to save me.

No I don't suicide on the hook when that happens but I agree I wont have fun for the rest of the match. I refuse to do it because I hold myself to a higher standard and I don't want to add to the toxicity. There's enough already. Now if I'm on the hook one person is left and they are being chased. Then Ill let myself die so they can get the hatch.

I never do, ofc I get mad but disconnecting is wrong and disrespectful imo, you put all team in a mess.

Of course if they showed up to not care or doing it by purpose I can understand this. But tuere are xertain situations why they can't simply reach you in time, when we play an online game we should consider other players fun as well, that's just my opinion.

yesterday I had two mates disconnecting after they were put down first time, I think there should be a ban at least for 1 week for such people

I do sometimes if I'm already having some bad games. I don't need my teammates Mori-ing me too.

I often have people dc because they were the first ones downed. I thought with the dedicated servers they were tracking this ######### and actually punishing people for it? My favorite are the ones who dc but somehow stick around in the end game chat to whine at me.

I get frustrated by that too. Still, I think inting is a bit harsh as a punishment. You also miss out on a bunch of struggle points.

Just yesterday I let someone hit 2nd phase on purpose so I could finish my generator instead. However since that survivor was not an entitled baby who suicides on hook because of 2nd phase I unhooked them afterwards and distracted the killer for the rest of the match allowing all of them to escape. Needless to say I got facecamped on my 1st hook after and no one even tried to unhook me. I still didn't cry like an entitled baby. Got my pip anyways whereas the killer depipped.

Long story short: Just because you hit 2nd phase on your first hook doesn't mean you have no chance to survive. If you can't handle playing the game unless you have the highest chances of winning then DBD is not for you.

Rank dosnt matter and I don’t play survivor for points lol I play survivor to relax from playing killer I play killer for bp so ya if I have bad or useless teammates that let me get to second phase I’ll die and move on lol

No it’s not but killing yourself on hook is still selfish. Maybe they are potatoes, maybe not. Are they to blame for being relatively new to the game or is it matchmaking pairing you up with them?

I’ve been in a match with all rank 1 survivors and all of them being potatoes..it’s match making being watered down that’s making it frustrating

This is a game, there were times where I was all the two hook stages and no one tried to save me. Being new it's not an excuse, today there is a tutorial wich is more than I had when I bought the game, and even newbie as I once was, I went for the unhooks.

If my teammates are running around not do anything. Yes i will. If they are push through separate generators i understand the strategy and i'm ok with it.

Solo is a pain but I personally don't do that.

These kind of frustrations are even more reason why Kindred should be basekit. If itt was most these scenarios wouldn't be a problem and camping would be a non-issue.

I seriously don't understand why the Devs balance the game the way they do. Kindred needs to be base kit to bridge the gap between SWF and Solo.

There are more survivors who are just as entitled as you, so im sure you are not the only one who kills themselves on first hook when going into second stage

I don't, I still give them time to do S whyle I die on the inside from not being rescued even if the killer is far away by struggling

I don't, but I become EXTREMELY immersed since I'm now on death hook for no reason.

Nope, OP is a crybaby imo, I've escaped/pipped/whatever plenty of times when this happens, no reason to throw a tantrum over such a thing

There is one reason, it ruins your match and most people give zero craps for pips and numbers

Yeah I don't care about pips etc either, mostly play for fun and blood points, you get blood points at the same rate whether you're on your death hook or not, what's the big rush to go play lobby simulator for 10 minutes again and screw your teammates over?

  • DepressedClownMain

Honestly I am more than happy to screw a player that intentionally lets me struggle on first hook, but I dont do that when I notice the killer was pressuring my hook

If this happens while I'm using kindred I definitely let myself die

there are certain times where it would be more beneficial to the team overall to let the survivor sit on the hook for a sec, especially if the killer is proxy camping.

One reason a lot of people will leave you on a hook for a sec is to finish a close gen, another reason one might not go and help you is because they are on death hook. you cant just say stop being such a chicken when there are dozens of reasons as to why your team is not instantly rushing to your hook. stop complaining and think about the whole team.

There is no need to be rude man, and if you didnt want anyones opinion you wouldnt have posted this discussion and asked if you were the only one that does this.

Not saying it isn’t frustrating for you if you’re on that hook. Just saying you can’t blame people for being new and still learning. Being considerate goes a long way.

So? If they don't have basic competency why should they have to suffer through ineptitude for people that probably don't even give a care about letting someone go to struggle phase on first hook when there was no need for it. They have responsibility to at least make the attempt at being a good teammate themselves.

i can’t blame you tbh. solo queue is awful sometimes. i’ll get hooked once and everyone gets too scared to come for the save half of the time. so i just let myself go to punish them lol. oops

  • Coder
    Coder Member Posts: 747

Nope, I do that too to punish idiotic survivors. Of course it all depends on the situation, maybe the killer is somehow pressuring them a lot, patrolling or camping me, in that situation I hold as much as I can to help the team instead of giving the killer an easy win.

I’ve had teammates that didn’t save me until struggle phase (or even death) despite Kindred as well, and while it’s annoying, I don’t suicide on hook unless I’m trying to give someone hatch or I mess up the tempo of the button mashing and die on accident. I’d rather be two hooks down but still up and helping my team rather than dying and not contributing anything at all.

Yes, what's the point of even playing if you are going to suicide on hook?

I only do this if I've ran the killer around for about 2 gen times and I get hooked to see people Urban Evasioning against a wall with no gens done still. Theres no point in me being in that game after that.

Same tbh. If they wanna be a ######### teammate then I can be a ######### teammate too.

Nice sarcasm you got there my dude but the game would in fact be better if people were more like me. I do not BM survivors when I play killer, I do not BM killers when I play survivor and I don't give up and suicide on hook like a baby just because I have a decreased chance of escaping ruining the game for literally all the other players of the trial.

    Sometimes.

I'm sure everyone has games playing solo when you get on hook, and look around at the auras of your team.

    Nobody on gens.

At least 1 self caring in a corner.

Sombody running around looking for totems like a headless chicken.

time is ticking down, nobodys saving, you see someobody go down after a 10 second chase.

yeah, i'm out, good luck with that guys.

I wont kill myself on hook mainly because i probably waited for a long time to get this game, but best believe im not unhooking anyone else and will wait out for a hatch game

It's extremely annoying to play with people that leave you unnecessarily on a hook until you almost, or in some cases do, die.

  • darktrix
    darktrix Member Posts: 1,790

The guy on the hook is in the unique position to make the call if he's being sent to struggle phase because of bad luck or because other survivors are inept.

If I get put in the basement and I can hear the TR - I don't expect a save anytime soon or at all, so I won't let go at struggle. Same if everyone was across the map when I got hooked and someone is making an effort to get to me...I'll hang on.

But if I'm on hook, the killer leaves and I look around seeing two people UE around the map with the third in a corner self caring, all with five gens still go and no one working on anything except one of the UE'ers who was slowly crawling my way decides that breaking a dull totem they happened across was more important...I might be tempted to slip when I go into struggle.

It’s extremely frustrating to go second state on the hook when solo but I won’t let go unless it’s justified.

If my team is actually doing gens and being a productive team then I’m obviously gonna keep struggling (if they were truly productive I wouldn’t have gone second state).

If they are a bunch of bush hiding crouching Blendettes who aren’t being chased by the killer, aren’t doing gens, AND I’m not getting camped...it seems to me that the game isn’t worth staying in. Who really wants to stay in a game of players who aren’t going anything to progress the game?

I let go if I notice that my team mates aren't actually doing anything. If my teammates are working on gens or being chased, or if I'm being face/proxy camped, I will wait it out and see. Those are valid reasons to not unhook someone, obviously. However, if the killer is nowhere near me, no one (or only one person) is working on gens, no one (or only one person) is being chased, and not ONE of my teammates is moving towards my direction and simply sneaking or wandering around the map aimlessly, I will let go. If I've already been struggling for a bit, and they're still [messing] around and not even being productive, I see no point in continuing to struggle and wait for them to decide when and IF they're going to help. Screw the extra blood points and good luck.

There's no reason I should be on the hook that long if you're not working on gens, not being chased, and the killer is nowhere near me. You don't have to be a seasoned player or God like survivor to know when it's appropriate and safe to unhook someone, it's pretty much common sense. I let go not because it's a matter of "punishing" the survivors, but because it's a matter of these guys don't know how to be an effective team, or they simply don't give a [crap]. I take the loss and move on to another match where the survivors understand the concept of an effective team, common sense and decency.
