Impossible Skill Checks (Devs)
Quick explanation of what I mean. I'm working on a generator and for whatever reason I decide to stop, maybe I see the aura of another survivor that needs to be healed. I stand up and take a step in their direction and suddenly get the noise that tells me a skill check has generated. I'm screwed. I'm no longer working on the generator. I'm not going to get the skill check graphic. I'm not going to hit a skill check I can't see.
However, even though I wasn't working on the generator when the skill check generated and I have no graphic to even give me the chance to get it guess what's going to happen? I'm going to "miss" a skill check. The killer gets notification of where I am based on something that should never happen.
It's difficult enough to evade killers without the game giving them notification where I am at based on skill checks that I have absolutely zero chance of hitting.
Is this a PS4 issue? Is it a server issue? I have no clue. What I do know is it is truly one of the only things about this game that legitimately just makes me angry. When I make a mistake I expect it's going to cost me. What I don't expect is to be penalized for mistakes I didn't make.
This is a fairly frequent occurrence. At least for me. Just got done with a match where it happened 3 times in the same match. Is there anything that can be done?

This happens to me all the time and it really needs to be fixed. I agree it should act like an overcharge skill check and force you to complete it even if you have let go of the generator. If you miss that then it's your fault.

Highly agree. Sadly the Devs did not say a word about that, but it is so annoying to get these Skill Checks when standing up from a Gen. At least give the chance to hit them.

This happens on PC also.
A skill check will pop up the INSTANT I let go of the gen for whatever reason and it just blows (literally).
Like.... if I didn't even see the thing pop up, the skill check should not register. Or at least do what Overchage does where you can hit it while you're running

Absolutely agree with everyone saying it should be like overcharge. That's all I'm asking for is a chance to actually hit the thing. I don't care if it's while I'm walking, running or just sitting there. It just sucks when I have zero chance.

So I will ask again if a Dev can give us some idea of why this is happening, and whether or not it can be fixed

Not a dev, but
1) it’s happening because you hop off a gen when a skill check procs before your reaction time can kick in.
2) they are able to fix it, they did with overcharge, it’s a matter of if they want to it not.

Feel it should be a high on the priority list. The amount of times I've been found or hooked due to this impossible skill-check is too frequent.

This has always happened on the switch. But I was playing yesterday and as I stood up to go do something else I heard the skill check. I expected the generator to blow because that's what always happens, but it didn't. IDK if it was changed or if it was luck

Pretty much. It would be such a no-brainer QoL fix. I guess Legion nerfs are higher priority though.

I agree, it's really irritating because I've had situations where I don't get a skill check and in the moment I let go it's the impossible skill check. If I know I'm going to have to let go, I typically just tap including when I heal myself if I plan to go into a locker. Alternatively you can let go right after you complete a skill check because there are never two successive checks AFAIK.

And then other time's it does it and nothing happens mostly when tapping through ruin ive noticed.

That has happened to me often enough that now I wont let go of the gen until either I complete a skill check or the killer is approaching and clearly knows I'm there

This may be anecdotal, but I've noticed that it only happens if I let go of the gen at the same time I'm trying to sprint away. If I let go of the gen and wait until the character is standing before I move, no problems.

That is absolutely not anecdotal. I will give that a try. I would absolutely love to have a way to stop that from happening. Taking the extra moment to stand is immeasurably better than a skill check I can't possibly hope to hit.

I get these skill checks quite a bit as well (can happen whether sprinting away or not). Definitely agree that it should be changed to the Overcharge system.
