Killer Viability and game Quality
Just watched the Live Stream with Mathew. He said something during the stream that Id like to talk about. "not every time are we gonna make a killer that will reach rank one or be viable at rank 1" "Is this going to be fun to play with and to vs."
My own opinion is that at every rank killers should be viable. this keeps the high ranks diverse. Meaning more variation for survivors to verse. Killers from what I see have fun in several ways. Killing survivors, scaring survivors and catching survivors. but each aspect a killer needs to have control over some part of the game.
All in all I feel for the betterment of this game in the future killers should be balanced for high ranks. Id like to see more killers at rank one other than nurse billy and huntress. What are your thoughts?

Don't listen to anything he says regarding balance and gameplay and whatnot. He's by far the least informed and knowledgable person on the team.

I think ideally every killer should be at about Hillbilly's level ( though some may argue even at Nurse level ) but in their own way.
For example Billy is great because of his high mobility, and Leatherface should be great as a close range dominator. I do think we are a long way away though from this being a reality.

I agree, every killer should be viable at high ranks. Most of the killers need a buff to be on Billy strength lvl.
It´s pretty rare to find other killers than Nurse, Billy or Huntress on rank 1.
What Mathieu said is very preoccupying. We could face another Freddy release with a "cool new power" that doesn´t help at all during a chase.2 -
My only question for Mathieu is: Isn't winning fun? A killer is fun to play because they are able to effectively kill in a way that the killer player enjoys. I have played Doctor at high ranks (6), that's not fun it's stressful and irritating to the point where I stop playing. Killers should be fun because they can kill effectively with a twist.0

With practise any killer should be able to reach rank 1 or else the community will at some point go nuts.
The hag was 'hard to play' at rank 1 but not completely useless.
However the Wraith was complete garbage and that's why he got reworked.
As mentioned in a stream he and his add-ons are still beeing looked at!Why you ask.
Bcs it's a really cool killer but he 'was' garbage.
So don't listen to him, he know less than the community lmao.0 -
If you are gonna make killers that are bad at high tier ranks allow us to de rank back to 20.

I mean we only saw the nerf to instablind flashlights after Cote got rekt in the Korean Event. Tbh I feel like he's biased toward survivors knowing that.

It baffles me that the DBD devs dont focus on making viable killers. Like others have mentioned every killer should be made and balanced with rank 1 gameplay in mind. Viability and fun in my opinion are cut from the same cloth. If a killer is not viable how on earth can he be fun to play. This game is trying to move towards being a real competitive game but you cant have this be a good competitive game if one side is gimped with gameplay limitations that hinders the skill of the player from shining. A killer to me will never be fun to play unless they are viable even if their unique power is interesting.

Never take anything Mr Cote says about balance seriously. I say that as somebody who likes him.
Mr Cote is a killer main, but he struck me as the kind of guy that doesn't mind ridiculous amounts of challenge. His idea of fun doesn't jive with most casuals.
As for the Korean event - I know it's the community meme that it's what caused the flashlight changes. But what many people overlook is these changes were already being being actively worked on when this event occurred. But the timing was so perfect nobody actually believes it.
To be expected I suppose, since many people seem to have it in their head that artists fix bugs too. ><

personally i really like mathieu but he's the last one you should listen to. I agree with him in the point that playing killer should make fun. I really enjoy playing Freddy. But it's not ejoyable when you feel like you could be the best Freddy of all... equal what you are doing, if you have 4 skilled survivors you have no chance to kill more than one, or maybe 1^^ You should have a seriously chance to kill at least 2 survivors (if you meet the best) This would guarantee an insane gameplay.
Note: But i dont want a second nurse. If you know how to deal with her blinks you're completely overpowered. There's is no seriously chance to survive her, except through the hatch. That's not the epitome of "balance". But she will stay like she is now because the most players can't control her perfectly. But that's another topic0 -

Thats my opnion too. But what can we do.....
Until devs change their mind we gotta manually derank to the ranks where we can enjoy the killer we want to play.
