Maybe the community would be better off
If this game just dies. Let all this nerd rage leave your system. It's clear the majority aren't mature enough or care enough to just be nice or do different things. This game is worse than when I tried CS:GO after playing 1.6>CS:Source for years. Communities make and break a game. Even if this game sucks but the community was great? It would be tolerable. But when their game isn't in a great position and the community is even worse? You're literally just killing the game.
A house divided cannot stand, and we have more division than people coming together. We have more hate and saltiness than empathy and love. Many people play games as an outlet for their pain and to just try and escape and forget about it if only for a few moments. But what happens when the game you enjoy now becomes an addition and maybe even a catalyst?
If you want the game to survive, I'd advise you to find ways to ban toxic players. (Maybe Killers get speed buffs vs Survivors who are teabagging and if they teabag at the gates they depip. Make the punishment harsh.) And to find out what the biggest problems of the game are and throw all of your resources into that and not other add-ons or cosmetics or storyline. None of that will matter if the player base is leaving.
I play on the PS4. I don't nerd rage, I value my peace and do what I can to stay at peace. I don't play much survivor but when I do, I tell people up front I suck at skill checks and they should go to a different gen if they see me on one. Haha. I've been face camped, tunneled etc. I'm ok with it. It can be hard to win with 4* survivors, and if I know one person has one hook left, one more hit vs someone who's had 1 hook and healthy? I'll tunnel that last survivor to increase my chances of winning. (3 survivors left.) It's like an RPG game. You have all four of your characters on your side focus on one so that you can down the enemies quicker. Rather than you using all four to 1on1.
Sorry for being all over. I liked the game but also uninstalled (still watch online and see where the game is in forums) because it's the community that's hard to handle. I've got enough mental health issues, I don't need other players telling me to kill myself and to go buy razors and make friends with them. No one needs that rage/hatred/toxicity in their life.

Don't generalize, I have TONS of fun with my usual 4 men SWF, guys I met in game btw, not real life friends. And killer is actually amazing for me, I enjoy everything in here and I take salt messages post games as a trophy so...

I don't feel like I'm generalizing though. it's not like it's only 5% of the community and 90% of people are blowing it out of proportion?
I wasn't saying that I wasn't having some fun as Survivor. I have fun know I'm bad at it and and there gets to be some close calls at times. But I was also playing as rank 19 with my rank 5 friend going against rank 2 killers. So I expected as much but was still fun.
People can only take so much and not everyone will see it as a "trophy". It gets tiring always getting messages from some ding dong nerd raging and having pride issues because they died. It's it fun over a period of time. This is a legitimate issues that needs to be dealt with.

It’s fun to rile up the nerds but games still fun most the time. I play with two buddies and I always look forward to it. One sucks though and gets us killed most the time.

The only actual thing I find annoying AF is queue times at high ranks... That's all, damn, I've finished about 10 games on my 3DS cause of it
1 -
You on PS4? What 3DS game?
1 -
Lol. Sounds like I could be your friend too. Haha

No, Xbox One X, and about the 3DS, literally, I play it whyle waiting for lobby and right now I've finished Pokemon Ultra Sun, Pokemon Ultra Moon, Pokemon Y, Pokemon X, TLOZ a link between worlds, Super Mario 3DS, Luigi's Mansion 2, amongst others

League of legends still stands despite being toxic waste at this point.

Dead by daylight 2
Completely restructured would be awesome to see.
These online only games really need to admit the shelf life

There's not much integrity. People, especially in America are motivated by self interest. That's why we have more depression here than a lot of other countries who have solid family values. We want inependence so bad a lot practically disown their own family.
There's a difference in being a doomsayer and having discernment about things. And I already did leave.

I feel like you didn't even read what I wrote and made assumptions. Read what I wrote and then reply.

I'm not the only one 😲

I used to play on PS4 and now I play on xbox 1 and the difference in night and day. On PlayStation most of the messages I received were salt. On xbox I still get salt but I get way more ggs as a survivor and killer. I believe it’s because xbox is a lot more strict when it comes to name calling using and using profanity. Most of the time the salty ones get ignored anyways. This is why I like ghostface if a survivor is tea bagging at a gate I just do it back until they leave to show that it doesn’t bother me any. I’ll be teabagging during an entire chase with him if someone does it during a chase with me.
1 -
I make it a point as survivor to messege the killer gg after every game. As killer i usually pick a survivor to do the same. On xbox so i can't mass messege.
I try to do my part to cut through toxicity when i can.

League of Legends is known to have one of the most toxic communities (and I lost a majority of my brain cells when I played) and is still going strong. League of Legends and Riot is too big to fail.
BHVR and Dead by Daylight is too big to fail.
1 -
I see your concern for Toxicity in the community; people get pissed all the time at me all the time when I play killer, but we shouldn't police people for taunting ingame, that just makes the situation worse. I guarantee you I would stop playing the game if BHVR had to come in and started acting like a baby sitter for the playerbase, that's just bad all around.
To those people who are promoting suicide in your dm's, those people should be banned from the playstation network. That's a serious issue that needs to be handled by Sony. I don't get messages like that in my dm's when I play DBD thank god.
Finally, I wanted to address your point about video games being on outlet to let go. That is true for some games, Minecraft, Satisfactory, ect. because these games are low intensity co-op experiences. Not all games are designed to do this though, Rocket League, DBD, Battlefield, ect. are all competitive pvp games, which are designed to give you auxiliarating experiences, and can be boring otherwise.
Whenever I play competitive games, I always try to keep a calm spirit, because I know they were trying to beat me just as much as I was trying to beat them. If I win, the victory is enough for me, I don't need to taunt or make fun of the other team for losing. If I lose, I say GG at most, especially if it was a close game. Though when it comes to DBD and there's 3 survivors alive waiting at the gates, I wont walk over there just to let them teabag me. I just let the timer run out and let them escape.

I've had many games where everyone was pretty cool but it is the internet so you will see extremely toxic people and it's usually SWF teams that get butthurt because you didn't play how they wanted so they could all bully, bait, and escape....lol. I don't tunnel and usually get 2 or 3 kills and give last hatch if they weren't being toxic. You just have to learn to ignore the negativity or stop playing online games because it's pretty much the same everywhere in my experience. I just talk crap right back when people are toxic or I give constructive criticism and leave.

Bruh Csgo is worse
Tf you mean dead by daylight is worse.
All that ever happens in CSGO is some angry Russian or polish dude yelling in the mic
Uninstall and go back from where you came from spamming the awp

The majority of the time, I just chalk it up to people being emotional & coming from a place of passion. A lot of people spend a lot of time (and maybe money too) on Dead by Daylight so they might feel frustrated when they don't agree with the way certain decisions are made or which direction something may take.
I think most people that play DBD, even the most negative naysayers, are coming from a place mentally of wanting to enjoy the game more.
Attacking the devs to me is silly though. Just remember when you're making hyperbolic comments about them losing their jobs or whatever other ridiculous statements I've read, that those devs you're giving flak to are also the same devs why this game ever happened in the first place.
Trust me, as someone that used to play hours upon hours of Marvel Heroes daily, it's a pretty bad feeling if the game does go away.

That's the best thing you can do. Either that or be the better man/woman and move on.

Honestly, for a lot of people, this seems like a job more than it is a video game that they play to be entertained or to escape the troubles of the real world for a little while.
The killers vs survivors mentality outside of matches is getting really tiring.

Practically everyone that plays League says it sucks now compared to back then. They are failing, just slowly.

I quit playing league after they got like 25 people. That's too many choices. Haha

"I play on PS4".
My condolences.

Well the peak of League Toxicity was around 2016.
Even in higher ranks people just kept being toxic and harassing. But Riot at one point implemented changes like the honor system and stricter bans to fight it.
It got a lot better since then. Though people slowly stop playing it nonetheless.
Team fight tactics was a smart move. But nonetheless it can not sustain the player base. That is why they are working on a new game now.

I think saying the community would be better off if the game died is a bit of an exaggeration.
First, if the game died there would be no community at all. Also, those players who you might consider toxic would just move onto a different pvp game and do it there.
I have met some wonderful people through this game that I would have otherwise probably never met, and so I have no regrets and I still continue to enjoy playing both killer and survivor.
If you have already uninstalled and don’t want to expose yourself to more toxicity I would advise to stay away from the forums. Lately this had looked almost like a post match chat in here.
1 -
I completely agree, i for the most part stick with single players because pvp games in general are so toxic but dbd is really high up there at least in my experience, my gf played ONE match her first btw (as killer) and she got messaged that she sucks and she should kill herself and all that and it just turned her away from the game, you would think people want you to become part of the community so the game grows but no they just insult people away, what a great community
0 -
Isn't toxicity what YOU make it? Yes a community can be awful but when it comes to things like balance and such that is also people are passionate about the games they play and they want it to be fun. Sometimes biased opinion cloud that.
0 -
I dunno man, I've had very few problems with the community. Try to remain neutral and ur mostly good. As a killer, I try to make the game fun while also trying a so-so amount (like leaving people when they boop Pig snoot). As a survivor, I try to stay chill when something kinda bs happens (like getting hit through a window while I'm halfway through a jungle gym). The game is what you make it, and I try to make it just a game and not something that gets me heated IRL. Also the fan base is pretty divided, but I wouldn't say it's always in a way that's detrimental. Survivor and killer mains both depend on one another to actually be able to play the game. No division, no game. I dont think the division in the community is the root of the problem, it's the toxicity.

I'm sorry to hear about this. There's definitely a lot of hurt that people are going through offline and it shows through their actions online. If you're on PS4 hit me up. I'm a lowbie survivor but main Killer. We could play Killer with friends and show her the ropes and get her involved in a healthier way.

Bro shut up. Just because you encountered people who was mad about dying you want the whole thing just to die? Go play with friends so you don't have to complain, your just as worse

Thanks for the reply but you're not really helping. Thanks for your input and reading the whole thing.
