Do you like self-care?

People are on a debate whether or not self-care is worth running. It's kind of a meta and, at least for me, a really good perk.

I use it for 2 reasons;

I hate relying on medkits and my team. Medkits have limited charges and it lasts for two-three heals.

As for my team, more often than not they are just not around or they don't want to heal after a rescue, even tho I know that someone else is being chased. I don't tend running survivor revealing perks and items so it's hard to find them xd.

Self-care has saved me a lot of times and it's almost stable in my build. So I want to hear from you guys, do you find self-care worth running? Is it a good perk?

Self-care is hard countered by Sloppy Butcher and Thanatophobia; it usually requires a second perk to be functional when healing to full.

No. It’s a waste of a perk slot and there are better healing perks. Good survivors do not care if they are injured through most of the trial.

I used to run it when i was totally new at the game.

It is a subpar perk, only useful in niche situations.

Its a nice perk if the killer doesnt have Sloppy.

I like it with Botany Knowledge, I don't run it without it. Botany works pretty well at also healing teammates, and has saved a few games with the extra 33% healing speed applied when picking someone off the ground, or healing them before the killer returned. But yeah with Botany it's good, without bad.....it's hard countered by the Plague though.

I use it, but I pair it with aggressive play. If I know they have nurses ill do it at loops to taunt them into chasing me. It is used too defensively sometimes I think though.

The only time I use Self-Care is with Botany Knowledge and Resilience for the 92% healing speed.

While it is extremely inefficient to use 3 perks to do one thing, you don't need to be efficient to win as survivor nowadays.

I also pair it with botany and resilience. You can 99% yourself and do other stuff. Killer about to come after you? Pop off your heal and get to business.

I play solo and use Self Care paired with Botany. I can't rely on teammates to heal me.

Why are you on hook in the first place? That would only be the case if you were downed really fast. Yea I agree some players are dumb like that and self-care in the worst moment, buuut why are you on the hook if one survivor is being chased, the one self-caring probably just ended a chase, and there's no talk about the third survivor. This just sounds like an unorganized team in my opinion, that third survivor is at fault and maybe even you if you got downed really quick. If you just got chased for the whole game then sorry but you got bad rng teammates, not entirely the "selfish-caring" teammate's fault tho.

Botany and self-care are a good mix. Used to run it all the time. Now I just learned not to get hit so much, lol

When your teammates are potatoes, you kinda have to care.

When I play killer its best perk for survivors can have, like build in Ruin.

When I play survivor I'm ready to rip my hair off when I see people Self Caring in corner.

It's a great perk for solo play, you can't always depend on your teammates.

Sometimes a good strategy is to unhook someone, instantly self care for 2 seconds, go over to heal them, miss, self care for another second, then finally heal them.

    Ez game.

    Yes.

    No and here's why:

    1. Sloppy Butcher absolutely destroys Self Care
    2. Inner Strength does the job way better and is way healthier for the game
    3. Self Care needs Botany Knowledge to even heal at a decent speed

    to slow to properly heal

    inner strenght is better

could be doing gens in that time or run a perk to find teammates to heal you and rush gens

lots of time i get mad cause everyone is taking like 30 seconds to self care cause of sloppy butcher

bro open a chest or like gen rush to adrenaline,

only bad players runs self care to get nurse called down

I personally like it just because even if it's slow you still get great skill check opportunities which rewards good timing. Also the fact that sometimes it can take more time running around trying to find a team mate to heal you if you don't have it, and it doesn't take up said team mate's time as the person that needs healing is able to do it themselves. I don't think it's 100% the best healing choice but it's probably the simplest and most easily accessible/reliable one.

As Survivor, only with other healing boosts.

As Killer, I love it. Stay in that corner for half a minute and everything will be okay.

No. I'm comfortable remaining injured for the entire duration of the trial. If I was really desperate, I'd pick inner strength over it. I do run bond with leader because I feel that it's very useful to find team mates and give them a boost for them to heal me.

I think it's a bad perk not because of how long it takes to heal, but it stops someone from getting points and emblem, it prevents you from doing roughly under half a gen instead, better perks do more. Without Botney Knowledge the perk is legit a waste of time. It's hard countered by other perks that are common in this meta. It had good uses, but more often then naught are outweighed by the bad sides.

As killer if I see someone self caring I see someone who decided to run my favorite slow down perk.

I would highly highly suggest replacing this with IW. I dont bring med kits or IW half the time. People just heal you with experince.

Self care is good, but it's not a good perk to run with the current way this game is played and inner strength is just so much better. You usually spawn near a totem at the start of the match too. And it's also doing an objective in a way, because nobody's gonna get mad at you for doing bones. Basically any perk that can counter the antihealing perks like coulrophobia, sloppy are better than self-care (self care and botany is fine though if you run them both together but seriously autodidact, we'll make it, solidarity are all much better than self care)

Yeah it's not a great perk right now due to the meta. Lot's of thana/sloppy being ran which makes it a pretty big waste of time. You're better off not healing or just bringing a decent medkit. Even getting healed by your teammates feels too slow with those slowdown perks.

    No I hate the perk.

It used to be really good in the past, but now it takes way too long healing. I would rather spend that much time doing an gen. Plus self care kinda been replaced by Inner Strength. You can also run bond if you need to be healed by someone cause bond is an great solo perk in my opinion.

Have it, you can carry a different item. Don't have it, you can have a different perk.

It's handy to have if you've take multiple hits throughout the match and can't find another survivor to heal you.

Saying that, don't you just love it when you allow another survivor to heal you...and they miss a simple skill check...revealing your location...and you get killed.

Inner Strength is good but obviously you have to get a totem first, and another each time you want a new heal. The advantage being that your aura isn't revealed with Nurse's Call.

Overall, I would say Self-Care is a good perk for those who take a lot of protective hits and don't like putting their lives in the hands of others.

If your would-be healer is on a gen the whole time, or actively trying for progess by any other means, selfcare is as efficient as getting healed by another person.

If you ever take longer than 16 seconds to find a healer, selfcare wouldve been better.

I view Self-Care as a utility perk that you use in certain situations when other ways to heal are not an option, rather than a must-have. I used to run off and heal every time I was injured with Self-Care, but as I played and got used to not running it, I realized that it wasted more time that it saved.

I've used it a couple times recently, for various challenges and achievements, and found that it was useful when I could afford to sit there for 32-40 seconds to heal. It was nice to have the option. However, I do often see survivors getting hit frequently and running off into a corner to heal every single time - that's when I don't like Self Care.

To me, it's just a matter of knowing when to spend the time to use it, as well as knowing when it's necessary to heal yourself.

lately been trying not to really use it, only with med kits and add-ons. but imo the perk is fine
