Easily the Entity. The Mind Flayer controls one realm that can only Tavel to one variation of the world (that we know of) to a certain part or parts of that world.

The Entity however, can place different weak points in different world throughout various points of history in said world. It leaks it's evil to corrupt the minds of it's prey to do dirty acts at a reasonable price. Then it also zaps teen and/or middle aged people into it's realm where it feeds. The Mind flayer is like a pet to The Entity.

    Dungeons and dragons?

Because the mind flayer was long around before ST existed.

Even then, entire civilizations of Illithid wouldnt be as powerful. They can controll and devour minds, and use psychic abilities, but not control the creation amd course of an entire realm to the degree the entity can.
