So by far how your games are going without ruin and what's your best current tactic (honest opinion)

Imho i tried out antigen build, but they simply don't work... it's just a placebo effect, the only close thing to old ruin is Pop, but it doesn't work on many killers.. wanna know what's my best way to get a ''fun'' and a decent lenght game? slug a lot with infectous fright.. but hey in the game there is a perk who counter slugging aka Unbreakable.. so my best way to win or get a chance is a mix with slugging, tunneling and proxy camping(to punish late saves).. So my conclusion? games are not fun anymore, with ruin i could play nice, have a fun game and get only 2k, but that doesn't matter, i care more about fun than winning, this is not a competitive game. The saddest thing is that you can get genrushed even by potatoes now... and no, adjusting toolboxes will not fix this issue. That's my conclusion.

Havnt played anything beside top tier killers that I didnt use Ruin to begin with. Sure I could play trapper and lose 3 gens while setting up traps but nah ill pass.

Honestly, I don't play nice even before the ruin change. I prefer to use slugging perks such as Knockout, Infectious fright, hex: The third seal, and deerstalker (due to broken sounds). I occasionally use NOED as well.

For Huntress I use Corrupt Intervention, Nurse's Calling, Iron Maiden, Shadowborn, Thrilling Tremors, and BBQ and Chilli. Iridescent Heads are used every 1/5 matches along with Infantry Belts.

Staying steadyish in the lower half of red rank. Still haven't really found a Pig build I'm happy with yet, though.

Ps4 Currently I'm using this on all killers, I could do without it on freddy and spirit but why bother

Ruin and surveillance: great combo until ruin gets busted, if it does

Bbq for double bps and a little tracking sometimes

    Noed

I've decided that noed is the only counter to gen rushing now. Of the games that get to the end they have broken my totems maybe 25% of the time, but they spent time doing it which extends the match which is what I would prefer.

I can get a 3-4k usually with whatever killer I'm using. Quite often even with trapper I can 4k before the gens are done, but also sometimes I have zero kills before the gens are done. Noed almost always comes in clutch in these situation, usually turns a 1k or 0k into a 3k

With Ghostie? Not a good time at all. He has no map pressure or game delay. It's awful even with Sloppy, Nurse's, Thanatophobia, and Whispers.

    CakeDuty Member Posts: 1,001

I'm doing great! I get way more 3-4ks than losses.

Most of survivors I go against in red ranks are potatoes, so only time I notice any difference is when I go against good loopers. Even then I manage to kill 1-2 survivors.

I mostly play Pig and she has a built in slowdown, so that might be why I'm doing so well. Though I also do pretty well with other killers. I've found myself slugging way more than before. My biggest problem is finding someone early game, so by the time I do 1 or 2 gens are close at popping. I hope the devs take a look at Scotts suggestion and consider it.

My games are going the same, I just run Billy with PGTW, IF, SF, and Enduring if I want to get an easy 4k. Mostly I don't run IF and run bbq instead because juicy bp.

I've just been using BBQ distressing discordance and enduring and I've had successful games like 90% of the time

Ruins fly. Games are quite short. And if gens are flying, I'll just tunnel and remove one person from the game quickly so I can end up with a 3k.

I noticed most games start with a popped gen after the first hook and another 1-2 until second hook. But the game changes from then way stronger than before. Most survivors commit to finish the gens, which means you are likely to have 2 people hooked at the same time. If not, after the first hook you have 1 on hook, one unhooking and one in chase. So a pretty slowdown already, although you are about to loose the second gen soon.

If they commit to finish the gen, you have 2 on hooks and after the gen pop you will have 2 others going for unhooks. So noone doing gens and you most likely know where to find them. I noticed it in almost every game that the first 2-3 gens are finished super quickly and after that, if you perform well in chases, sitching targets or slugging if it is worth it, the next gen won't pop for like 2-3 minutes.

Sure, depends on killer and builds, I almost always run Pop to have better control over the last 1-2 gens and need to be aware of which gens to protect all the time, and when survivors try to pull me away from gens. But I really got used to losing gens early. Mostly games are just bad if I do hard mistakes myself or if there are mutliple toolboxes or Prove Thyself or BNPs in the game. Or of course good looping survivors or well organized teams.

My matches have been going fine without Hex: Ruin for years now.

My tactic is smack smack onto da hook, kick one with Pop Goes The Weasel, either chase someone new or hit whoever triggered Make Your Choice, rinse and repeat.

Survivors always think they have time to heal and for some reason people still run Self Care a lot. Injurer them all and find them with Nurses Calling. Of course works best with stealth killers but its a sound strategy for everyone.

I have been playing as Wraith who never appears.

The only perk I run is Hex Ruin.

I find the totem and if its in a narrow gap I stand in front of it invisible.

Its funny when survivors find it but cant get near it.

That's how I get my kicks these days.

  • Todgeweiht
    Todgeweiht Member Posts: 3,666

I avoided using ruin because it just fell tiresome relying on a single perk to slow gens, but after the nerf I am actually liking it, now it feels like it actually requires skill and you can still get tremendous value out of it.

Really easy. Killer has never been easier, but that’s due to red ranks being extremely watered down with new rank reset.

How it would go regularly against a team of 4 pro survivors I have no idea.

  • BloodyNights
    BloodyNights Member Posts: 526

As survivor it's about the same, win some, lose some. I kind of feel like sometimes it was easier with Ruin, because killers tend to be a bit more I don't know brutal? More Campy, tunnely. Also they actually have another perk that annoys me like Pop Goes the Weasel. Which can get frustrating when teammates don't stop going down. Instead of Ruin that I either worked through, or it got destroyed in 30 seconds. Though some times Ruin completely shut down the team for some reason. When it couldn't be found, and for some reason no one did gens with it up. So that issue is gone.

As Killer, I got 3-4k before in the majority of games before, and I still get 3-4k in the majority of my games now. My strategy has always been spread the pain. Very rarely do I tunnel, or camp. I just play smart, and think like a survivor would think in the middle of chases. I punish altruistic teams by paying attention to my surroundings. While leaving, and going to the hook I'm pretty good at protecting my gens as well, I'll give up chases I think will waste too much time. And I also will slug, if the need calls for it. I've never saw it as toxic, it's just my way of stopping them from doing gens while I chase someone else.

I play as Myers the Majority of games. Using Pop/BBQ/Monitor/Nurses. My preferred add-ons are Dead Rabbit, and M. Myers Memorial.

people only used that much because they are used to it and scared of removing it

  • Johnny_XMan
    Johnny_XMan Member Posts: 6,432

Games are still fun for me because unlike many people who claim they lose 2 gens at the start, I know when to stop chasing and injure survivors that I know are working on gens.

Sure some gens get done faster but at the end of the day it doesn’t matter because they were all dead by the time there was only one gen left.

You gotta work with whatever build you got. I’ve seen people camping while they gained a stack of PGTW like what??

  • edgarpoop
    edgarpoop Member Posts: 8,390

It really depends on the survivors. That's my honest assessment from playing both sides, though I consider myself a killer main.

Most tiles are not 50/50 tiles and many killers don't have effective chase power. So the survivor either executes the tile correctly, drops the pallet, and moves on, or they get hit.

The higher tier killers change the dynamic a bit of course, but game speed is still akin to a runaway freight train if survivors spread out and stay efficient. Two good loopers really put a killer in a rough spot.

As for how I'm doing? I 3 or 4k more often than not, rarely less than a safety pip. But like I said, a lot of that depends on the survivors.

  • BubbaSawyerMeats
    BubbaSawyerMeats Member Posts: 108

play with your food and nemesis. don't extend chases and know when to let them go. There are unwinnable infinite loops that you will have to recognize. try to defend an area that has less loops as opposed to closer gens. you hopefully get some chase action that way.

  • Dreamnomad
    Dreamnomad Member Posts: 3,962

I used to make it a point to stay away from the top tier killers and generally "played nice" by avoiding tunneling and other strategies that are unfun for survivors. Those are basically the things I do now. Play strong killers and don't play nice.

  • ALostPuppy
    ALostPuppy Member Posts: 3,398

I just use pop instead, and play a lot less fair. As much as I hate the playstyle with pop I feel like it's necessary on a lot of killers. I can still play Nurse, Billy and Freddy the same way as I always have though so there's that. But man, trying to play almost any other killer without pop or corrupt is just awful. I've tried and tried so many times on killers like Doc, Myers, Trapper but it's not possible.

  • BenZ0
    BenZ0 Member Posts: 4,125

Nothing changed for me, I only used ruin on bad early game pressure Killers such as Trapper, Hag, Myers etc, now I switched for them to corrupt but overall nothing is different.

Current build for Mikey is: M&A, NOED, Devour Hope, Nurse's Calling. I throw Pop too sometimes. It works surprisingly well. I try to force 3 gens when I can too.

  • MamaEagle
    MamaEagle Member Posts: 115

Depends on who I play as, but to be honest I go after who uses what. If I see one or more people with toolboxes I try to go for them first so gens don't get rushed as easily. If I can hook them then the entire other half must save their hooked friends while I bust up gens and patrol around hooks for the survivors if they haven't unhooked yet just in case they are hanging around before I head to the other gens. I find it always works to go after the "valuable players" imo. Medkits and Toolboxes mean more time for me trying to stop gens and keep people downed.

I've been either running Lightborn, Agitation, Mad Grit, and Discordance, using Discordance to find two or more survivors, down one and slap the inevitable flashlights and sandbags, or I've been trying to do a stupid sac everyone during the endgame build with Deerstalker, Blood Warden, Noed, and Fire Up. The goal is to slug someone as egc starts and keep the near a hook, then drop them on when there's more time on Blood Warden's lock than the egc timer. It was meant to punish butt dancers, but I suppose it also punishes overly altruistic survivors.

I've been using Huntress' Lullaby, with I'm all ears, Whispers and Thrilling Tremors. I'm more on the low ranked end of things though (15-10 is my usual ranking) so I'm not sure how it holds up at higher level play.

  • Danielgdp3

I've had a great time since Ruin got changed as killer, only had 3 escapes I think in my last 15 matches. I've found using Corrupt Intervention really helps you if you can get a hook or two before a gen pops.

With how I play most games i don't bother kicking gens and just focus on catching survivors since I don't run Pop and haven't had much of an issue with gens anyway.

Being slugged sucks for survivors, and isn't fun, and unbreakable is a one time use to counter it. Your comment tells me that you're probably one of those self-absorbed players.

Infectous fright is a nice perk on killers who can make chases end quickly. By that, I'm not just talking about killers with great chase powers, but also just any killer with an instadown. I use to run it on Bubba without ruin before the ruin changes hit.

New ruin though I've been trying out on afew killers with surveillance. Knowing exactly when a survivor hops on a gen when they think your busy has landed me alot of freebe hits because of it. Been having alot of luck with it on Myers for example, which is a killer that has a horrible early game.

Its also got me playing Legion, which is usually just an idea I randomly get and then regret. Using this build though had proven pretty fun and pretty decent...

Admittedly the game this particular screenshot shows was pretty much just a meme game with none of the survivors being serious at all, lol.

  • Dwinchester
    Dwinchester Member Posts: 961

Pretty awful. Any Insta down killer doesn't pip because of the garbage emblem system. If I want to get kills I have to play like a scumbag. Basically I stick to doctor, plague, and ghostface. Corrupt, pop, whispers, and devour hope are my go to perks.

If you get a big map with survivors intent on doing gens, no amount of pressure on the world is going to stop them. The devs screwed the pooch.

  • sulaiman
    sulaiman Member Posts: 3,219

Well, actually it is running pretty good. Although i made a few changes.

First, i used to play every killer, more or less. Clown, Legion, Trapper, all of them (well, not nurse and billy actually) . Now, i dropped all except spirit and freddy.

I dropped ruin, and instead i bring a mori every game and tunnel hard. I often get 4ks (well, at least i count disconnects as kills in this). Sometimes more than one escapes, but that just happens.

  • DeathBeam
    DeathBeam Member Posts: 259

It's not selfish to try to get 4K by slugging, and why should we care only about the survivor's fun?

  • DocFabron

It's a "hold M1 and W to win" fest if I'm not using Doc, Spirit, Oni, or hostage Plague/Legion.

And it's pretty much the same as when I play survivor. All I have to do is run forward or slap gens to ez victory.

Honestly, before the changes, I never used ruin, but survivors seem determined to complete them faster now. It's harder even though I never used that hex. Even still, I can 4k, it just requires way more sweat and toxicity. It just seems not worth it to be a high rank killer anymore.

Also, I've been bringing NOED more because of the increased speed.

  • sulaiman
    sulaiman Member Posts: 3,219

has nothing to do with high rank killers, you play vs the same survivors as a rank 15 killer

With that build, use ruin, pop, noed, or devour hope instead of whispers. People should be hurt most of the time, and you should be moving fast between gens / healing people. You should be able to hear injured people easily, and you'll get much more value put of almost any other perk than whispers. If you really are having a hard time finding people, use stridor. It makes it impossible to hide while injured, and I am often able to locate healthy survivors purely through their breathing. Almost anything will do you better than whispers with that build.

I can't begin to say how many chases need to be dropped during a match. If it takes longer than a minute to land a single hit, I move on to gens. A lot of people get obsessed with chases nowadays.

I’m starting to run more and more ‘forever’ builds consisting of Dying Light, Thanataphobia, PGTW and Corrupt Int. Used to think these builds were toxic and unnecessary but ever since the ruin change, some killers need this slowdown badly because they have no evident map pressure whatsoever. If I see any toolboxes I put on slowdown add-ons too- Billy’s purple chain add-on, Huntress’ gen repair add-on, Freddy’s chains and ropes, etc.
