New Status Effect: Distracted?
So, my mind was drifting and thinking about killer and perk concepts, and I thought up of this status effect idea.
I call it "Distracted". Whenever you are affected by the Distracted status effect, you cannot see your HUD and other on screen info. This includes your perks, power/item, addons, gen count, survivor health states, progress bars, and action prompts (such as disarm traps, drop pallets, etc). This would be very effective in many situations. For example, imagine a survivor is running Spine Chill and Quick and Quiet. They are working on a generator, and a perk or something hits them with Distracted. Then they hear the terror radius. They cannot see Spine Chill to know if the killer is after them, so they rush into a locker. What they also didn't know is that Quick and Quiet was still on cooldown, so the killer was alerted of this and pulled the survivor out of the locker. Another example: a Myers is in tier II. He is stalking a survivor when he is hit with Distracted. Now, he cannot see his stalk meter. Now he has to make a decision: does he continue stalking and risk popping tier III too early, or does he stop stalking and begin a chase? I feel like this status effect could add alot more to DBD and would be a great addition overall. What are you're thoughts?

Hmm what would apply it? Third Seal, add ons, Diversion, Head on? Could be a decent enough QoL change to make the game more immersive.

It would be applied by some new perk or addon. It couldn't really be anything already existing.

That would be fairly awful if I am being honest.
If you are new to the game, it would be remarkably frustrating and cause so many issues.
If you are not new to the game, it would just be an inconvenience unless you had certain perks or such and then it just renders your entire build useless which is not something you really want happening, people would just get frustrated and DC because basically they are playing with little or no perks.
Just, I can see this being soooo infuriating and not fun at all, effective sure, but far far far from an enjoyable play experience. I hate trashing on ideas because it never hurts to just share your thoughts, so don't take this personally, I just think it would be an awful time sorry.

I can see that.

They also have like what 16 or so status effects already? I can't imagine they are going to be adding too many more if at all at this point anyways. That's already a lot for folks to keep track of, not everyone plays this game for hundreds or thousands of hours.

True, but how many games care about this anyway? The game is only going to get harder to play the more perks and killers added that are actually viable. Look at games like Overwatch. It just keeps getting more complicated as time goes on, but people don't mind. Just a thought

I think people would mind this one a great deal. This isn't just more complicated, it's the bad, frustrating kind of complicated.
BHVR does care about this though, they have said a few times they want to streamline things more, it's why Legion lost his m1 applying on hit stuff but not for things like noed, why hex's won't be changed unless across all hex perks, why they are so hesitant to expand the game objectives despite the requests. They feel they reached the limit of how "Much" of mechanics they want, now they want to make them more cohesive.
All that aside though, it's still more just about it being the kind of thing that is more annoying and lopsided in various matches, and unfair to newer players still learning. It's not really the kind of thing a game should adapt willingly when so many less frustrating ways to expand the same thing could be done.

That would be a nice rework for the Blindness status effect imo, making the Third Seal worthy of being a hex.

To me, this seems more like a Blindness buff than a new Status Condition.

I wouldn't make it a status effect against killers, but would be an interesting way to balance the game against survivors.

Sounds like a good idea though I think it should apply to certain interactions as well like searching pigs boxes or using Freddie’s clocks

Distracted should be the reworked blindness status effect in my opinion. 😁

This sounds very intresting.
Imagine distracting someone with an active DS timer lol.
