I'm trying to hold out hope for still playing this game, but it feels like the game is forcing me out.
I try to play as killer (purple rank), but the time it takes me to cross a map where the survivors spawn, they've already got one gen nearly completed. And if I guess incorrectly they will finish it before I get there because literally everyone spawned on a gen. So that's one gen lost. I chase one person, lose another gen because it is completely across the map and I cannot apply any pressure to it and if I do then I risk losing a gen where I currently am to the same situation. Hook that guy, lose another gen to prove thyself and toolboxes. So that is 3 gens for one hook. Maps are too big to apply pressure paired with how fast gens go. I ended up just DCing because I didn't have any perks to recover, and based on other details of the match I knew there was no way I would get 11 more hooks within 2 gens. The survivors were all red rank and all had at least the minimum amount of clue about the map setups and could easily soft loop pallets and windows. Plenty of pallets to use still for 2 gens left.
Maybe I was just having an off day, switched to survivor (red rank), and once again, sit on gens, loop easy pallets while your team got gens done under 2 minutes. I don't feel rewarded when I do well as a survivor because there's no effort required to play. My chase wasn't even that long. But I never got hit, they switched off, but then I just went back to sitting on gens. They ended up DCing.
I. Don't. Blame. Them.
Can't play this game anymore. Survivor is too easy and killer is too stressful. :( I love this game but I don't like what's happening to it.

Yeah I have similar concerns.
I like this game and love horror, but Dead by Daylight has numerous flaws. Match-making, map size, overall balance: it's serious.
I just need to discipline myself on the amount of time I spend on it. I'm just grinding through challenges in order to get free cosmetics. I rarely stop and think "Am I actually having fun?". More often than not I am just driving towards those challenge targets in order to get more unlockables.
But I've moaning on here too much previously.

Yeah, you are not alone with this feeling nor the first to bring this up. Dbd could die and it would be sad. I love this game too and would hate to see it happen.

Just adapt and lose dude thats your role as killer
-Survivor main

That's what it feels like. I got ######### from a 4 man red rank swf for DCing on an indoor map as a trapper when they had popped 3 gens back to back lol. I was basically a killer with no power. And I'm nice and don't run noed. 🙄

How do you save a game that doesn’t need saving.
2 -
Big yikes
17 -
I'm with you on this, the early game is too favored towards survivors, no matter how fast you win the first chase you will lose ~2 gens sometimes even 3 if you get a bad layout.
I would suggest stop playing killer, its the only way to punish the devs and force them to proper balance the game, trust me, give it some time the queues will get soo long they will be forced to do something.
6 -
its very rare where you verse 4 veterans. games are fine as killer. just know more about dbd.
losing 3 gens before hooking anyone doesnt mean you lost too
3 -
Doesn't mean you lost but it sure is one hell of a head start. The game is not balanced, no amount of feelgood tryhard sentimental ######### is gonna change that.
3 -
I mean all the issues you are listing aren’t common in my games. 😎
2 -
I hope there’s some changes in the next couple months until then I’m focusing on playing zombie army 4 and later Nioh 2, RE3, last of us 2.
3 -
Is this the new ######### way of discrediting an opinion?

You must not be high rank on either side then.
1 -
I mean I can't even play games as killer. Seems like I load into a match with 3 gens already done lol.
1 -
Well with the poor matchmaking for the past few months, I've been getting nearly all red ranks with maybe a couple matches here and there with their green or rank 20 friends who stealth on Yamaoka lol.

Typical comment, but if you must know I am actually a rank 4.
Which has nothing to do with the topic at hand.

Lmao am I supposed to agree with him? 😂 be toxic elsewhere, please. Or stay on topic.
2 -
Rank 4 killer? Lol. Idk how you don't experience this unless you main billy, spirit, or nurse.

I have over 3,000 hours and I have a lot of map awareness.
My main is neither of those 3, it's Michael. I'm not denying that gens can be fast at times, but a lot has to do with map set ups, and overall skill of the player.
You aren't suppose to get kills while all gens are still up, you are suppose to outpace survivors in their objective. So even the best killers lose gens, but if they kill everyone and 1 gen remains they have succeeded in their objective.

I half and half agree with you here. I agree that gen times are fine, but... if a killer gets a map like coldwind or ormond, usually the survivors escape. Bad maps that spawn broken setups really suck being in the game, which is why killers complain about gens so much- they don't know what the real problem is. Coldwind maps, in my humble opinion, are the worst maps in the game. They can spawn some truly broken setups like long-walls connected to the killers shack, for instance. They shouldn't be able to spawn together at ALL. Not to mention that they're ALL far too big. When maps like those or reworked entirely and map design is fundamentally changed, then we can see some real progress. Just my two cents.

I feel kind of the same as i play mainly killer and sometimes the matches are okay, but other times it's like being kicked in the teeth. It feels extremely bad if you get put with survivors who know somewhat of how to loop, or just get a bigger map that's harder to patrol everything. I understand not all gens should be able to be fully defended but sometimes it feels like none of the gens can really be defended.

I agree with all of you so much.

Clearly, you're not good enough to play in those ranks, especially if this is how most of your games go. It's ok, just learn from the many mistakes you're obviously making in game. While accepting this reality, the game favours survivors at the start, it then favours killers the longer it progresses. You can't waste time being looped, you can't waste time chasing survivors around dead zones take a look at your perks and how useful they are to your playstyle, maybe try other killers, learn how to mind game survivors.
Don't pop in here jumping on the gEn RuSh Is A tHiNg bollox. It's only a thing against bad killers and the very minority of games where you play against optimal 4 man SWF squads (remember, if anyone plays optimally, it's going to be tough to go against unless they play optimally too)

Hope they do something too I've spent way too much money on this game for it to just die.

Holy yikes

This is where I'm at also.
It's like a toxic relationship.
One partner is doing as much as they can to tell the other how much they're being hurt by their actions and they simply continue to do what they think is right.
As much as I love the game, I have a growing contempt for the dev's decisions. As such, I feel driven from the game as the killer gameplay I used to enjoy so much is taking a backseat to survivor enjoyment.
It's not hatred or lack of love that kills a relationship. It's apathy.
And while many people mock posters about how they're finally leaving the game, there are hundreds that move away from the game silently never to come back because they simply don't care anymore.
Dbd gains players, and loses them at a similar rate... someday their reputation will prevent new players from coming at all.

My biggest issue isn't with gens, it's with the maps and I want to play a killer I enjoy who unfortunately is a low mobility killer. And I should not have to run solely meta perks on killer all the time just to be at an equal advantage. On survivor I can run anything I want, even go without perks, and I will do perfectly fine. Still easy. But as killer, if you choose one perk that doesn't really work well with the map layout that's spawned then damn, you lose.
Maybe take a break from your survivor games and attempt at playing killer before commenting next time.

LOL that's why I'm a green rank killer, not red or purple. Lucky me, I can't get a game without two red ranks in it to save my ######### life.
1 -
Almost every game I played this past weekend(I played every night) was me(rank 10/12) matched against red rank swf with at least two people who memorized the maps and all pallet locations and two pro immersive players.
Playing games as killer is not fine. It is definitely not rare to face good red rank survivors.
2 -
For starters, I play both sides but I'm a killer main because killer feels like the only skill based thing about this game.
As much as I would love to believe that this game can be saved, I feel that it may be too late to save it. While I agree with the fact that survivor is too easy and killer is too stressful, the game is heading down the the same path as Deathgarden.
If anything is going to destroy the game it is the lack of killers. Right now the current killer's that are playing are killer's who still have faith that the game is good or will get better, or survivor's who are finally playing killer to get an understanding of our frustrations. If this keeps up queue times will be the next killer simply because killer's are tired of dealing with the stress that killer causes and the unfairness of the devs nerfing viable killers and perks. I have quit playing dbd for the time being, but the fact that i'm here on the forums shows that I still have hope that the game can get better.

Dude... Just let them rant. There is no point.

It is the game's fault. Skill is a lie.

Here's a thought, quit giving them money, boycott their cosmetics, boycott their dlc [they will likely nerf anything op after a couple of weeks (ie oni, MoM, etc)], have new friends by steam keys from places like g2a or kinguin, etc. If they don't fix the game like they should, then it dies. I love this game too, but its current state is just busted in so many ways and they seem to blind to it. In their eyes 4x survivors buying cosmetics are greater than 1 killer doing it.
