Fix the hatch

I just got out of a game where the survivor and I pretty much got to the hatch at the same time. I had started the hatch animation and they still jumped into it as I closed it. Glad to see theres no counter play to the hatch if the survivor and killer get there almost same time. Couple years of this broken game and theres still stupid little imbalances like this. Fix the errors your community constantly posts about ffs. Tired of a broken game lol

From my experience, the killer takes priority in closing it in those situations. Maybe it was the ping.

They should've never gotten rid of the hatch grab. That way the survivor still needed to beat you there. Simple.

I've had several instances where theres nothing I can do once a survivor gets to the hatch. Try to interrupt, you just smack them and they jump out. Try to close it, apparently they can jump in it while you do that. Close it in front of them while they have a key? They immediately open and no time for counter. I rarely see killer get priority in this situation. Theres an animation for us to follow before its fully closed but if a survivor even clicks the escape (m1) then they're guaranteed the hatch. Doesnt seem very killer prioritized

No that's avoided by the killer closing the hatch, which should make the hatch inaccessible once they start said animation. Giving the survivor a free hatch escape just because they found the hatch too is lame and it makes no sense why you cant grab them out anymore

It does give killer priority. This is probably one of the rare circumstances where it didn't.

My opinion on the hatch is that it should just be removed and the EGC starts with the survivor still having to complete gen's. Since the issue was that survivors were hiding when things went sour for them - effectively taking the game hostage. You really shouldn't respond to a player taking advantage of an issue in the game by giving them a free win mechanic, as that kind of decision festers entitlement and toxicity. Anyway's that's just my opinion. Fix the hatch - it's dumb to give survivors a free win mechanic for playing bad.

Killer side already has priority on hatch action, which just means you werent there at the same time, but shortly later. The survivor beat you at finding the hatch, take it.

Exactly, IDK why that is everyones response to hatch grabs. Closing the hatch makes standoffs a non factor. At least then its a matter of whoever makes it there first wins for sure while also guranteeing the survivor can't hang around there like a jerk.

Oh and I would love for the hatch to be gone. Its a stupid mechanic that doesn't need to be in the game. Why when you BOMB a team does one of them still deserve a chance at a free win? Playing experienced survivors 1 of them will usually always get the hatch within seconds of it being a thing. Slugging isn't fun. Changing it so that the survivors can technically escape while accomplishing ZERO objectives is just ridiculous to me.

You've never played solo have you? working your ass off to carry the potatoes you get put with and still end up dying. Still no reason to play on.

If you make life miserable for solos they will decrease and you'll just get more and more swf....with killers complain about all the time. They shoot themselves in the foot.

I don't like it from a survivor side either. Lost to WAY too many weak killers because 1 or more of my teammates is the type who basically gives up the moment someone is dead and stops doing gens. Way too many matches where we basically obliterate the killer but end up losing because 1-2 people quit working on gens entirely. Increasing the time the killer has to get us MASSIVELY.

At least with the hatch the good survivor has a glimmer of hope. However small that may be.

Shame that it often goes to the Claudettes that wait in the corner of the map.

lmao I hadn't even seen this post when I made mine about the hatch and survivor.

Solo surviving is precisely why I hate the hatch. If it was a group I was with. I would be grilling them on why they are basically giving up when we can still win.

I dunno. I don't think removing the hatch entirely is a good idea, no matter what some potato survivor does to sabotage thier team because they want it. I wouldn't bring back the grab for normal hatch, because the killer can close it entirely. But I WOULD bring it back for hatches opened with a key. I've lost multiple survivors to them sprinting to a hatch while I chase them and hoping out with no counterplay with their key.

With EGC and grabs removed, we are headed in the right direction. Keys are the third step in fixing hatch, while keeping it in the game. Make keys a hold M1 for [insert time]. Make an animation similar to opening a chest. Thats the easiest solution that I see. I also think Killer ought to be able to see hatch glow within a [insert x meters.

If devs adjusted how survivors and killers are rewarded bloodpoints and removed any notable BP gain from escaping, we may see less salt when people die. Adjust and fix pipping. Escaping would allow you to keep your goods. Opens up opportunity for more escape style challenges. Side affects could be more fun because theres less pressure to escape, and you can go play with the killer. :D <3

    TLDR; pipe dream
