5 minutes is to much
Imo the 5 minutes penalty on 1st DC is set to high. It should be more like 1-2 minutes.

I think there shouldn't be any dc penalties. The devs want my money and they think they can take them by not letting me play their game? Hell no. Dc penalties are bs. I payed the game and I'm allowed to do what i want. Who cares to git gud.

Edit:Guys i wanted this to be a bait but maybe i didn't express it welI. I actually think dc penalties are fine you can't dc only because you don't like a perk or an addon of the opposit side. I wanted to joke about how short those penalties were

Anything less, and you wouldn't even see the ban before you were able to boot the game again after a crash. This was an issue the devs were seeing during the initial test. People would have repeated crashes and DCs, and not even know they had been punished until suddenly they had a 30 minute timeout. I don't know about them, but this doesn't seem fair to me. I think people should be aware they were punished the first time it happens.

Comon, if you really dc'd because of a acceptable reason, the penalty should not really care someone.
To reboot your pc + open steam again + open dbd again its already 1-5 minutes depending on your system. If you dc because of rl reasons - who cares there about 5 minutes?
You hang anyways on your phone, move to a friend or vise verca and so on for more as 5 minutes and I could go on with the reasoning for that.
The time for the first penalty is ok, if you have not dc on purpose and in this case, the most people deserve it imo^^.

When you buy the game you agree to the fact that the game can constantly change and add stuff that isn’t always going to be ideal to you. You bought the online video game, you get what you get, the devs don’t owe you anything just because you bought their game. If you are getting penalized because you DC’d then you are going against the rules that the devs implemented and thus are obviously going to get punished. If the game made you DC then it’s unfortunate but this is the stuff you agreed to when you bought the game.
you are allowed to be unsatisfied with the game and give your feedback, but if you’re unsatisfied just because you are no longer allowed to DC and ruin the game for other players who also bought the game, then that type of behavior is clearly unwanted in this game.

No. You agreed to their end user license agreement when you started playing the. You are not allowed to "do whatever you want".

I'm really getting tired of these boring threads of people upset they have a harder time ruining games, and abusing DC tech.
It's not coming back, they are not going to make it any easier for you. Stop dcing from games just because things slightly went the wrong way for you. If you can't handle the fact that your actions impact 4 other people then stop playing multiplayer games.

I'm convinced that 95% of the people crying about "my internet lagged out or DbD's ######### servers screwed me!!!" are rage quitters that are upset that they can't DC at the first sign of Spirit anymore

dcs have dropped a lot but hook suiciding has skyrocketed.
To me just wanting a normal game it doesn't make any difference. I don't care if I get a few more points now.

It only cools down by like 5 minutes every 24 hours too, which is a bit slow given how often the game has issues. I just had a rank update error and got a 10 minute ban, I was so mad I closed the game down for the day.

DCing separates people who are salty and people who actually enjoy the game. I don't want a salty survivor ruining my game because "oh I don't like the map" or "oh I got downed for the first/second/umpteenth time" and screwing over the rest of the teammates. Learn to deal with it or take the DC penalty. Can't deal with it? Stop playing the game. Simple.

The problem is the game has so many issues with it that it mostly just punishes people for no reason more than it does what it is supposed to do.
You are right though, not much can be done about it other than either just dealing with that, or to quit playing.

Well I had to dc because of EGC bug, it annoys me a lot to wait 5 min because of ######### Spagetti code

That is bad.
I had by myself 1 time dc because of a bug (shortly after the Legion rework patch). I had started with another killer in a match and because I woud have dislike it to get banned, I had preferred to dc.
But to be honest, such things a very uncommon and so I think, it is a small price to pay if we think on the alternative - aka. the time before the penalties.

DC Penalties should never be longer than 5 minutes IMO unless a player has been reported for unsportsmanlike conduct. But I think 5 minutes is fine.

Oh, I absolutely agree with you on that. I saw in the dev stream about DC penalties and yeah it does suck it can differentiate between salty rage quitters and internet issues but at least the penalties are light unless you get up to seven. My internet can be garbage at times but rarely does it kick me out.

Is five minutes really that damning to your life? You can’t wait five measly minutes for another queue? I assume you could, I don’t know, get a drink, take a piss, speak to another human in your home, respond to a text or two, scratch your ass, do a handstand, or whatever?

I feel like the first couple of DCs should be quick while excessive DCing are more punishing.
Here's what I'd with the DC penalties
- DC: Warning, get a message about the consequences of DCing.
- DC: 1 Minute
- DC: 5 Minutes
- DC: 15 Minutes
- DC: 30 Minutes
- DC: 60 Minutes
- DC: 2 Hours
- DC: 4 Hours
- DC: 8 Hours
- DC: DC Ban
Escalation will reset after two conditions:
- Play 5 full games (either side) without leaving early.
- 24 hours have passed since the last DC.

I think they're poorly implemented like maybe half bp for 5-10 min if it happens again 30 min and a third time is a 1hr ban and it should reset once a day just spitballing here.

That's sounds better because it covers things like gamebreaking bugs or a killer taking hostage by bodyblocking etc.
Also, what do you mean with with 10. DC ban? Permanent ban?

Every few months I believe, the developers will manually ban all players who surpass the DC threshold.
For example: Numbers are just placeholders.
The developers will ban all players who DC in more than 20% of their games. Ban duration is based on a escalation system:
If you reach 10, you will receive a ban, as if you was one of the people who surpassed the DC threshold. 😁
I know, it's harsh, but let's be honest, you have to DC 10 times plus wait the timeout penalty. If you still don't change the behavior then I think it's fair to receive a DC Ban.

I have the simplest solution guys....... don’t DC Ik it sounds crazy but it’s a really effective idea to not get DC bans. Just take the loss and move on don’t get upset because you lost, learn from them.

I don't understand why it is so hard to not DC. If the match is that bad, just die on hook.
I only DC'd when I first started this game because I'm a big chicken and got matched against stealth killer after stealth killer. I just couldn't handle getting Ghostface after having multiple strokes so I DC'd and took a break from the game.
People act as if DC punishments are the end of the world.

5 minutes is too short. The first DC should be 30 minutes. Loading crashes don’t count as a DC anymore. So... the excuses are running out.
