How are we supposed to try out license killers now?
I get that some people hated the shards mostly because they already own the killers for the shards, and they were wasting their bloodpoints having to buy them, but what about the people who don't own these killers? How are we gonna demo the license killers now? And the shards we already own.. are we gonnna be refunded for all the shards we already bought? Or this just a big middle finger to those people who haven't decided to fully invest in the game yet?

We dont.
Thats the reason we cant use every killer in KYF.
It would be too op if killers knew what the killer does before buying the DLC

...what?

What!? You're telling me that it's overpowered for me to demo a killer before I decide to spend my money on it? What does me deciding if a killer is fun enough to play have to do with my decision to spend money on it and it being "overpowered"?
Me trying out a killer for the first time without their perks is not anymore overpowered then someone who owns thats character while being able to equip perks. It's the complete opposite actually.

If you could demo the licensed killers you would learn majority of them are weak and you won't buy them. They are mostly to draw in crowds at this rate. Very few are good at end game or fun to play.
Mikey is good for jump scares but that's about it.
Bubba is a weaker billy.
Pig I find fun but very rng reliant with RBTs. Has some mind game potential with her dash but if you screw it up it extends the chase.
Freddy was so bad at launch the F tier was named after him. Now he is pretty good.
Ghost Face I enjoy playing as. I like his jump scares and I "can" do well with him at red ranks. Depends on how well they can reveal me.
Demo is fun. Has some stealth and map pressure with his tunnels but an average killer.

Woooosh.

Ouch. That's funny because I wrote this post with the mindset that somebody was gonna say "Dude, just buy the DLC, cheap bastard" ect.

How you try out licensed characters now? You purchase them with real money like a good consumerist sheep. Simple as that.

There all a steamy pile of Buffalo 💩💩💩 anyway, except Freddy and GF. If your gonna buy only one, make it them

Is it official that they are removing the splinters? If so, I really want all those 7k points back I needed to spend before. The Freddy splinter doesn't even work at this point, so I can't use it anyway...

There should be a link at the top to the chapter update notes. If you scroll down to the bottom of the patch notes, you'll see that they're removing splinters. Not sure if they are talking about only the freddy splinters, or all splinters.

I guess that it is all splinters then. Shame...

Splinters haven't been a thing since the Pig, I don't get why everyone is getting up in arms about it now?
Additionally, everyone saying "You can't test the killer before you buy it", how many games let you test their DLCs before you buy them? Additionally all killers are subjected to a PTB on PC, so there is plenty of ways to see how the killer is played, what the killer does & see what his strengths and weaknesses are, additionally, you can at least (eventually) get their perks through the shrine.

Just get Daddy Myers and Freddy. They're all you need.

But we already had the feature. And it was working, except for Freddy (cause rework). Whats the point removing it now?
And you cant even try out DLCs in KYF. Well, you cant even do local KYF and try them out there.
And if we are talking about other games/dlcs demos, then the games without demos are the ones that get cracked the most. Sorry devs, you just cant expect people to give you money blindly. At least on Steam you can refund, but I dont remember how it works on DLCs

Arma 3 is an example that lets you test DLCs. Not everyone plays DBD on PC to have access to the PTB. I have no idea what you mean by "plenty of ways", other than shards which are going down the drain here pretty soon. At least refund my bloodpoints.

Actually... Please dont stain My (Myers) name.
I (Myers) am a very good killer indeed.
The only thing that sucks, is that I get seen most of the time. So if you want to stalk you have to get the fast stalk gain addons ;P that's the way to go (plus boyfriends memo).

I have a blast with Bubba and Myers, but thats just me.

Hey take that back...Myers, and Demogorgon are top tier in the fun category.

My mistake, I meant to say that there would be plenty of videos & content to watch, and again, splinters stopped with pig and haven't even been working lately so I feel people are just complaining because they're taking something out, and not because people actually use them.

Splinters themselves were all working all the time, except for Freddy since the rework.
I know because I use them.
The only thing that was bugged was bloodweb RNG that sometimes gave splinters to people who had bought these DLCs already. Or sometimes they didnt appear at all.
But perkless addonless Myers was certainly not impossible to play, it was a bit harder with Bubba and Pig

Only licensed killers you should be buying are bubba ( for bbq ) freddy hyper ( aggressive killer )

Myers is fun, but just doesn't have enough pressure in red ranks. Never really cared for demo personally, but that's just me. I have fun playing with trapper and just spamming traps in random spots. Always amuses me when I get the TRAP!

Yeah, Myers is fun, but gets challenging on red ranks. Bubba is just too damn slow and gets countered too easily, but that's me.

I don't really have an issue keeping up with Myers in the Red Ranks. Unless it's a bad map...but even those I can overcome if I play smart. But he is my main. As for Demo I think his power is fun. People panic and start doing weird turns that slow them down when Demo readies a charge allowing for a lot of easy hits by canceling and going for a normal attack. He also can annoy the crap out of survivors when you place portals by gens. You can just keep checking and see if any survivors are working on the gen or your portal, giving you map awareness. Survivors also waste time destroying them so there is a little bit of stall potential...and of course some extra fast travel.
But uhhh....neither are as brain dead as Freddy, if that's your idea of fun.

strap PWYF on Bubba and hes a blast, lol

If you think trapper is good now, just wait until the chapter update comes out and they disable the ability for survivors to disable bear traps :D
It really does suck that the shards don't work properly right now. There's a lot of people who have less than 200 hours in the game (Im assuming after that is when people decide to invest more money in the game) including me who are gonna lose out on a really cool feature which could possibly net BHVR more money for DLC characters.
You guys like to joke that they're taking away shards bc they don't want people to realize how 💩the license killers but I'll say the opposite l. If it weren't for a freddy shard that I used, I wouldn't be considering buying freddy. People are more inclined to spend money on a character if they get to try it first.
I'll wait for the shrine of secrets for BBQ
I have a guilty pleasure of finding enjoyment in which the odds are in my favor. Freddy seems to fit that bill, from orzdovos's perspective at least.

Usually I just watch twitch/yt to see how they are and go from there

Interestingly enough, Freddy is the only one that I have tried out, and 2 of the 4 people I played against instantly gave up. I found it quite fun to play him otherwise, and you can't tell if a character is strong or weak if you can't equip perks on them.
Let's be honest here, Bubba needs a buff. Nobody likes to play him as he is.
