Ace in the hole is the best perk in the game
Most people dont know what does the perk do or most people dont chose this perk but i gonna explain to you.
I'm rank 3 survivor and i played minimum 10 games with having ace in the hole. I didnt take anyitem before the game started and everyround ı had very rare items. Yellow map, Purple key, Green or purple toolbox, medkit, and a lot of add-on.. Why nobody dont use this perk. İts underrated. Change my mind

It's a fantastic perk sure, but I rarely go searching in chests, since most times they're already looted. But I do like to use it if I ever play Ace.

You’re thinking of Open Handed.
Ace in the Hole guarantees spicy addons on items you find in chests. Usually paired with Plunder’s for max value.

Ace in the Hole is the one that lets you find add-ons on chest items (and lets you keep your add-ons in 3.6.0).

I rarely use items as survivor so AITH is inconsequential to me. But the buff it’s going to receive will be huge now that addons will be automatically lost after 3.6

Items arent needed, thats why the perk isnt used much besides some "looting-builds".

The reason ace in the hole is a bad perk is simply because finding items in general is not that important. Plus you suffer from disadvantages. You need Plunders + ace in the hole to get a good item. 2 perk slots AND the time to loot a chest for an item that you get from your bloodweb anyway is not exactly useful. Also, you can bring any item you actually want to the trial and you are not dependent on RNG.

It is not used because you can bring items you want without having to gamble. And then you have a free perk slot.
It would make more sense to use it when you run out of items/addons and don't want to prestige the character or need your BP for someone else
Just one thing I can think of: if you also bring coin offerings for more chests, you can increase the chance to get keys. And when you don't bring keys that the killer can see in the lobby, you can avoid Franklins being used. But this is very conditional
