About the hillbilly...

...and why I believe he is an example of a perfectly balanced killer.

(Yes, it's me again with one of these novels.)

I don't put that much time into Billy-boi, so I don't know his ins and outs. Therefore, I'm naturally expected to be pretty shocking as him, which I'm okay with.

Yet, somehow, I find myself being able to understand how he works better and better each and every game, learning new skills along the way. He's not so overly powerful you can win with no effort (stridor spirit), or so weak you need to have everything mastered and perfect down to a t (nurse). If I make mistakes, survivors punish me for them. If they make mistakes, I can manage to punish them accordingly.

And this is exactly what I think perfectly balanced killers should be like. If you're good at them, then you'll excel (have you SEEN the curves some Billys can make??), but you still stand a chance against him even if they are godtier. If they're bad, they can still perform not-too-bad-you-want-to-give-them-a-hug, but not too good that you still feel like you've barely escaped even though they were, frankly, awful at the game.

So, therefore, can we stop asking for him to be nerfed? There's ample amount of feedback and coubterplay available, he's strong without being overly so, takes a good amount of skill to actually be oppressive as whilst not needing so much you can't do anything while learning them, and most importantly you can outplay him, even at his best, and he can outplay you, even at his best.

Maybe we should nerf insta-saw. That's about it.

But hey, if you think I'm wrong, please let me know! Just keep it civil, that'd be great :)

(Apparently this is my first popular opinion lmao)

I agree that Billy is balanced.

But I fear a nerf is just around the corner. It will either be Billy or Freddy.

As a freddy main, I'm fine with a minor freddy nerf. He's who most of the really bad killers jumped to after spirit & nurse got nerfed, and making him harder to play is just a yes from me. Just not Billy.

(Minor nerf pls bhvr, don't make me have to play the worst killer in the game again).

I agree with you. I've already said this in another thread, the only OP/unfair thing in his kit are his charge add-ons, namely the ability to stack them. I'm an advocate for removing charge add ons altogether, as Billy doesn't need them

I fully agree. With how fast gens can be repaired, I think Hillbilly has exactly the power level any killer needs to have. Fantastic map pressure and the ability to insta down, but he can be looped which makes him balanced despite the gen times. More killers should be at his level.

I do think people are allowed to express their opinion, and are allowed to make threads about him being op. But I would argue he is one of the most balanced killers in the game right now. If the survivors objective time would ever be increased, he would need a nerf, but at the moment, he seems perfectly balanced to me.

I'd like to see an actual cooldown for such an all-in-one ability, rather than a 3 second animation, or a 4 second animation for hitting something.

Insta-saw needs to be gutted though. It just ruins games.

As for the whole "perfect balance" thing, I would actually argue that Huntress is a better example. TydeTyme explained it very well in his Killer Tier List for 2.3.3

Honestly I don't think he needs one, his current one is fine to me.

And with huntress, I see what you mean about her, and tyde too, but personally I think Billy is better because he's so much less map dependant (plus that was 2.3.3, we're coming up to 3.6.0 I believe, so it's a tad bit outdated)

I much prefer not having a cooldown slapped onto literally everything that could have one. It doesn't need to be there, he doesn't need one. BHVR need to move away from throwing cooldowns on everything and they seem to be doing that with Deathslinger.

Don’t nerf Billy’s add ons. That was how the nurse nerf started and they turned her into French Canadian dog poo.

if they nerf billy i will legit die on the inside. Billy is perfectly balanced. He just needs an addon-pass since he was bade b4 the addon standard was set by BHVR.

Billy should be the power level all killers strive to be.

Freddy isn't getting nerfed. He has clear rules in place. Stay awake to deny his power.

Billy has stupidly good add-ons and a chainsaw tip a mile wide. He's definitely getting the hammer.

Yeah, 2.3.3 was a while ago, but I don't remember Huntress ever receiving a change in that time and it doesn't diminish what he said about her.

When you have high mobility, destruction and an instant-down all in base kit with one button press, it seems far from balanced on paper at least.

    *Looks at Nurse

Yeah, your opinion means nothing. Can't wait to see the Devs version of balance come to Billy and kill whatever is left of the killer player base.

Billy and his add-ons are perfectly balanced, anything else is just people who probably got one shot by sniper billy or couldn't use T-L's to their advantage. As long as people don't get caught in dead zones, there's literally nothing to worry about with Billy. His chainsaw is mainly just for mobility purposes, if someone gets consistently downed by his chainsaw, they just need to start learning how to loop and not stay in dead zones for too long.

I like playing and going against billies. He can punish cocky survivors and be punished for getting greedy for m2's.

He's also got amazing map pressure. It's so nice to be able to get around the map easily. You can cut off the exit, get to gens before they're popped. Best of all you can down and punish badly positioned survivors instead of giving them a speed boost to pallet town.

He's also fun to play against at jungle gyms. Makes the mindgame payoff feel much more rewarding.

The only change Billy needs is his chainsaw noise. When playing as Billy it can get annoying and I don't want tinnitus.
