A serious question about “rule books,” both sides

hopefully we can keep from insults and name calling, I will say to start I play both sides about 50/50 so I have seen theeee from both sides. I’m a rank 1/2 survivor and usually purple killer if anyone thinks that matter which it may.

Both sides have their unwritten rules (well written in forums or endgame I guess) that they feel the other side should follow but WHY? If it’s not a bug or exploit, if it’s built into the game why shouldn’t they do it?

If your answer is that it makes the game unfun for you/your side then can you honestly say you don’t do anything that makes it unfun for the other side?

This could be camping, tunneling, using brand new parts, using maps that clearly favor one side, abusing a specific near infinite loops. If a killer doesn’t camp then do you agree to not run to “good loops,” and if the survivors don’t bring any toolboxes does that mean you would drop NOED even if you usually use it to account for gen speed?

And of course using certain perks like NOED, DS, BT could be included in here as well. If you knew the other teams wasn’t going to use “meta build,” would you screw around as well and use some of the funnier, less used perks?

I thi k most of the unwritten rules can be summed up as don't go out of your way to make the game miserable for the other side. I don't get mad at a killer who camps me when the gates are powered. And I don't blame a survivor using strong perks and loops. It's when they are clearly trying to make your game miserable that I get upset.

As killer using Noed sometimes feel required. I've gone too many matches playing fairly and not camping hook only to have 4 survivors running out the door.

And survivor I've been tunneled to death too many times. So now I run DS as a stop gap to at least have a chance to get away.

Doesn't seem all that malevolent when it comes down to it. The players are their own worst enemy.

"Because its unfun" is more than enough reason. Devs are not fixing things, then we have to fix them ouselves. The whole point is that you say others to follow the rules, while you still follow them. If you dont do that than you are just a hypocrite.

But well obviously some people overdo it and make impossible claims, so ignore them

Play the way you want to play. There are no rules regardless of what players say. I don't know where this stuff was created but its all a joke in my opinion. I as well play both sides only 80/20 killer/surv but I don't follow any of those rules. If I see you I down you simple as that some survivors will not try to get away from the hook thinking I wont hit them down or some will rush behind me while im hooking a survivor and expect me to leave with their marks all around the hook. Where in the world did these rules get created??? and as kill use what you want to use and ill play the way I want to play.

I don't follow any rules beyond those of the game. I don't go out of my way to ruin someone's game, but I try to make the best choice possible to win. That usually means tunneling but not camping. Lets be honest though, it's not like survivors are restricting their gameplay based on the killer's fun. In fact I expect them to do everything they can to win.

IMO if a rule is unwritten, there is no reason you should always follow it. Who cares if the other side gets salty. If I pick you up and you don't wiggle, I don't have to give you the hatch 100% of the time. While I think it is nice to follow some unwritten rules, such as respecting the 4%. You are not obligated to follow any of them, and if the other people in the game get salty, that's on them.

Because people want easy wins. It's a guaranteed loss if you follow them. When survs cry to me about them, it makes me double down and do more of the same the next couple matches until I get tired. The entitlement fuels my devotion to The Entity. 😈

I have hear a lot of the survivors rule book. Less from the killer roolbook, but I know it exist. I have never bother me with just 1 of them. That doesn't mean that I am ok with everything I have seen by killers or survivors.

But as long as no one uses bugs or exploits to its advantage and is not insulting in the endgame chat, I am ok with it. Of course some things are cheap in my eyes and if I see them, I think then that this survior or killer needed those specific perks (as example) to survive a match for a lack of skill, but that is then just what I think and not say.

I'm ruthless on both sides. There is no tactic that I won't employ to win. About the only time I'm merciful is if you have a toxic, sandbagging teammate.
