How is the 'new' matchmaking system going to fix the lack of players?
The new system is supposed to gauge skill, and go off that to match you as close as possible, right? Yet, when players aren't found, isn't it going to have to widen its search to find somebody to fit into the match. Is there supposed to be a set limit to how far the skill rating can go before the system just waits for somebody to fit it, or is it simply going to continue to widen its search until it finds a player to fill the role?
I'm trying to figure out how the new system is supposed to be better than the current system. There just aren't as many killer players as survivors, hence the queue times. Especially in red ranks. So, does that mean red ranks will be dead zones, at least for the survivors, since the system won't be able to find an adequate amount of red ranked killers? Or, red ranked 'hidden skill rating' players. If there isn't a set limit to how far the system can look for similar 'skill ratings,' isn't it just going to pull in lower skill rated killers to fill the gap due to wait times?
I know, for the first few months, everything is going to be up in limbo as the new skill ratings balance out, so matchmaking will 'appear' to be fixed, since matches will fly. But after that, when the status quo is settled, won't we be right back to where we are currently? Except we won't be able to see the actual ratings, because them being hidden and all.

What I don’t understand is how they are going to rate skill aside from your rank (which makes no difference in matchmaking now unless you’re rank 20).

I was thinking the same thing. A new matchmaking system won't make up for a lack of killers. There needs to be more incentives to play killer, the short queue times and better bloodpoint rewards is enough for me but not for many others.

Just revert the SWF change and make it harder to rank up as survivor, as well as revert rank reset. Then everything is fine. No need for a new system.

I counter with this; we revert the Rank Reset changes and make pipping harder. No reason to send Rank 20 Killer's against Rank 1 Survivors who know what they are doing.
As for the counter, "Well, that's what is happening to baby Survivors right now and it isn't fair." Well, you are right from a logistical perspective, it isn't. However, they CHOSE to play with their higher ranked friends, the Killers who were matched with those SWF's did not get that choice.

I don’t get how they intend to make this work with all the items/add ins in the game.
Say I go against a player called Bob and he likes to use Huntress. One game he could take yellow add ons. I win and move up in the ranks. Or he could take iri heads + infantry belt + ebony mori and I lose and go down in the ranks. Its still “Bob”, he’s still of the same skill level however Iri heads and ebony mori drastically reduce my chances of winning.
Likewise I could go against a 4 man swf no items or a 4 man swf with the best toolboxes and bnp.
How do you judge who played better with all the random crap in this game?

If we revert the changes we wouldnt send rank 20 killers against rank 1 survivors. Did you even know what they changed? Obviously not. And new survivors didnt choose to get matched vs higher killers, just because one teammate is higher ranked, they are forced into those games. Chosing to play together in an multiplayer game and getting ######### up is no Choice. Your "argument" is nonsense.

That is exactly what was happening. Three Rank 4 Survivors and a Rank 20 would have been able to match with sub Rank 15.
Before the MM got screwed up, they did. As of now, yes, games are very weird. But before that happened, say two months ago, low rank Survivors were not playing against high ranks unless they were chosing to SWF with their high ranked buddies

Thats exactly what wouldnt have happened, if the old system would have worked as intented. You do understand what average means, do you? And thats exactly what the old MM was supposed to do.

I do, however, it was working as intended.
The game wants to match you with people within 6 ranks of you. If there are 3 Rank 4's and a Rank 20, it should balance out around Rank 10 or so, right? That means the game also takes people from Rank 10-16, which is way more likely than getting a higher ranked Killer for some reason.
As it is now, the system is overall broken. If it were to work correctly, it would be fine. Low ranked Killers would be playing against low ranked Survivors, which is good. Low ranked Survivors should only be playing against low ranked Killers, unless they choose to play with friends that are higher ranked then them.

The real question is how long is to long to wait in survivors Q's? Would you rather wait 25 minutes for a killer within 6 ranks of you. Or wait 10 minutes and play what's available? The real issue is not enough killers are playing right now. MM won't solve that problem.

They just have no idea how to fix it so just remove rank and add some standards if you win loose, how many you killed etc.. That would be my guess .. But this change will solve nothing and its just waste of time and resources.. Why ? Because whole mm is broken due to swf and with new system swf people will once again ranks way more quicker and higher than solo or killer and there will be same que times... No comment
