What Licensed Solo Survivor does everyone here would think fit most into DBD
This also includes some characters that may not fit the genre of DBD though in my opinion could work. I have made this to give some insight to the developers that we love solo chapters and I think this can give a ton of variety by adding survivors from movies and series we love but at the same time giving the devs the capability to create their own killers with more cosmetics.
I'll be removing characters that are sort of useless/ insignificant without the main killer such as Hellen from Candyman as those would not be solo survivors. I'll also be adding some characters from licenses we already have if their presence would be greatly appreciated and are significant enough.
I know I'm going to have questions about why It's Always Sunny Characters are on it so I'll just put this here. The series is incredibly flexible with many horror themed episodes in it with some of the advertising even having Friday the 13th references in it. I do not think it would be much out of place it would be sorta like "oh boy look what the gang got into this time" plus everyone seems to want Danny Devito as a survivor.

Definitely Sidney Prescott! She's the missing link.

Sidney Prescott/ Gale Weathers or Deputy Dewey or Randy (Scream)
Sidney can definitely be a solo chapter, it doesnt have to include ghostface, just a chapter similar to how they did with Ash vs The Evil Dead, maybe they can make it so then it comes with the Scream ghostface cosmetic (the classic one we have in game and the one from Scream have a LOT of differences)

Sidney Prescott is iconic I'll give you that, but I'm voting for Randy far, far, far, far, far more than I'm voting for Sidney Prescott.
To me every survivor represents an archetype. Meg is the athlete, Claudette is kind of a nerd, Jake is the lone wolf (even though this is Ash's description it fits Jake better if you've seen the show), Dwight is the nervous leader, Jeff is the gentle giant, Ace is the lucky gambler, Nea is the rebel, Steve Harrington is the (former) Jock, Nancy wheeler is the amateur Journalist with a sense for a good story, Jane is the celebrity, David Tapp is the obsessed cop, David King is the ######### / bully (this is how he is described by the devs in the stream when he first cam out), Feng Min is the gamer, Kate Denson is the free spirit, etc.
The important thing to note here is we've already got a character who fits the Final Girl archetype. Laurie is the Final Girl, so it doesn't make sense to have a second. I'd much rather have Randy because he represents a popular character archetype that we haven't seen yet before: "The Geek" or as I like to call him (because it's Randy) "The Horror Specialist"
Randy knows everything there is to know about Horror movies, that's what makes him so interesting a character in the context of the Scream films. He knows the tropes and he's the one who's got all the information about what is going down based on prior knowledge. Plus Randy is objectively the best / most interesting / most personality driven character from Scream let's be honest, there's a reason fans were so sad / outraged when he died in the second film, so much so that he still made it into the third movie despite his death.
I've been rooting for Randy for a long time now, which makes a lot of sense because one of the primary motivators he's given in the second movie shortly before his death is that he always plays second fiddle. The killer taunts him that he'll never be the leading man, he'll never get the girl, he's only an expendable character, and this makes him a character that I feel fits way too well with the types of stories Dead By Daylight tells with their characters to pass up.

Well isn't Zarina sorta a lot like Nancy then? I know she is a filmmaker rather then a journalist but they are incredibly similar.
I'd like if Randy and Sidney come into the game though if I were to choose one, I'd say Sidney especially seeing how it plays with the fact that no matter how far Sidney tries to run from her demons, they still follow her. She moves away, she lives in the secure house, she stops the Stab franchise from continuing her story, the entire plot of Scream 4 etc, I think the fact that even after death/ going into the entity's realm she still is haunted by her past.
Randy died very early in the franchise so is nowhere near as iconic, and I'd argue that his archetype is just a subsection of a nerd being a film nerd (Scream 2 he was in film studies at uni talking about The Godfather). Personally I'd also disagree and say that Dwight is more of the nerd despite his lore saying he's a nervous leader due to his complexion, hobbies and his history of being bullied. Claudette I think is more of a caring enviornmentalist or basing off her lore, someone just wanting to fit in which is different to a nerd.

For me, I think it would be Helen Lyle (from Candyman) He is a stressed character, he got too much into the wolf's mouth and now desperately tries to get out. I think it would be a new proposal
(besides that she is not the "final girl" because she was the only one from the beginning, besides she dies ups spoiler sorry)

I dont think that there should be any licensed Solo Survivor-DLC in the future. Because it would repeat what happened with MoM - they would need to release a Perk which is way too strong with it so that people who are not interested in the character itself or are not interested in completion will also have a reason to buy it.
But IF I would need to choose one, I would go for Negan from TWD.

Definitely ultra instinct Shaggy. I'd buy that in an instant.

Journalist archetype
This is something that bugs me a little bit and I wrote about awhile ago, the investigative journalist archetype is something that feels a bit overplayed / overdone in Dead By Daylight. It makes for a perfect story in horror movies "The investigative journalist won't stop at anything to find a good story, but she bites off more than she can chew after uncovering a dark secret..." so when Dead By Daylight is an amalgamation of all these different horror stories and many of them have the same investigative journalist role you can see how they might end up with more of that than any other type of character. This sticks out all the more when BHVR for the most part, has done an absolutely fantastic job at creating unique characters with every single new chapter release after 3 years (4th anniversary will be in June) and 15 chapter releases.
If you go back even further Dead By Daylight's entire lore hinges on this character archetype and the one who started it all was Benedict Baker who was conducting an investigation into the Entity and the abandoned ghost town of Weeks.
My point being, it's not a good thing. We don't want to see repeated character archetypes and just because two characters might share similarities doesn't make free real estate to continue repeating characters and stories. It makes them the exception rather than the rule, and I think everyone can agree we want as absolutely diverse cast as possible. Saying we can add even more characters who fill the same role just because another was recently added who shares similar characteristics with one who currently exists is just an excuse.
Randy's significance (Vs. David Tapp)
As well, Randy didn't exactly die very early in the franchise when you consider that the story was meant to be a trilogy. On a personal level I'm a fan of all the movies but I understand when a decent chunk of people say that they didn't pay attention to the fourth, some go so far as to say they didn't pay attention past the first and everything after that didn't live up to the original's legacy. He was a re-acurring character for the trilogy and that's what counts.
On top of this, if you think Randy isn't as iconic why don't you talk to SaW fans when they realized that Detective David Tapp was the survivor for that chapter?? The SaW franchise is ######### 8 movies long at this point with a 9th currently on the way, and the character they picked from the entire convoluted timeline was one who died in the very first ######### movie. Compared to the role Randy plays in Scream Detective Tapp is absolutely insignificant, completely and utterly inconsequential in every possible sense. Randy plays a key role in the survival of the main characters in Scream even AFTER he's dead in the third movie when they discover he left behind a tape recording of him explaining the rules of a trilogy. Tapp has barely any real significance in the one movie he shows up in and he has absolutely no impact on any film that came after for the rest of the series.
Keep in mind this is a film series who's timeline is so convolutedly full of secrets that it turns out one of the main characters (Doctor Lawrence Gordon) from the very first movie (the same movie that Tapp appears but has no significance in) actually turned out to be a secret antagonist working behind the scenes for Jigsaw for the next six movies until his role in the jigsaw murders was finally revealed in Saw 7 out of ######### nowhere. So it's not like Tapp couldn't have been written in as a more important character later on down the line, he just wasn't and was promptly completely forgotten about until Dead By Daylight picked him up.
PS.
I have no idea where you got the idea that Dwight is a nerd, just because he wears glasses, a tie, and a button up shirt that makes him a nerd?? Sure, on the surface he may look the part but his character is clearly described in the lore as having Grades that were "Distinctly below average". That immediately takes him out of the running for taking the role of the nerd archetype in Dead By Daylight, on the other hand Claudette definitely fits the nerd category. Regardless of what field of study she's into (Nerds are not specific to Math or technology: In this case she has an affinity for Biology - specifically Botany) she's very smart (her lore describes she earned an "early scholarship at a great college" in her original bio she is described as being "introverted [by] nature" and "Her brilliance provided her with a social handicap" This was reconfirmed 3 years later when Tome I was released and the archives described her as more or less a social outcast in elementary school. All of these are trademark characteristics of any classic Nerd character in popular culture.
A "Caring environmentalist" is not an archetype, at least not in horror movies. That doesn't mean characters who care for the environment don't show up, it means that they're far less common to constitute having an entire archetype, and likely would still fall under the role of a nerd in their story. Examples of archetypes in these kind of stories are "The Jock (often athletic, but not very smart), The Nerd (often intellectually savvy, typically lacks social skills), The popular girl (Often very pretty or beautiful and well respected by her peers for superficial reasons, usually arrogant or stuck up) The Nice guy (your average "nice guy" who is nice to the other characters in the story, doesn't stick out too much, sets a baseline for the audience to connect to and typically tied to the main character or has a leading role in some way), the rebel (A badass who cares mostly about themselves but later revealed to care about others to some degree, holds disregard or disdain for laws, rules, or convention, has a penchant for Leather clothing), etc.
This comes to Randy's archetype: The Geek. Closely correlated to the Nerd but without the downsides, they are typically defined by being smart (though not as smart as the Nerd) but are very capable in social situations, though might still be social outcasts to a certain degree. Often Witty or funny, their knowledge extends widely into popular culture such as movies, (video / board) games, celebrities, etc. making them very knowledgable about the climate they live in. I don't know about you but there isn't a single character in DBD that I can think of that truly embodies and embraces these characteristics which is why I would so look forward to Randy being introduced.
Or, BHVR could come up with their own original character who happens to be a geek. In which case the numerous paragraphs I have written arguing why Randy should make it in will be all for naught. Oh well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I've always thought that they should have been in with the Scream chapter, both have so much potential. I love those movies

Shaggy/ Fred/ Daphnie/ Velma (Scooby Doo)
I have a proposal for Shaggy. there was a DC comic series called Scooby Apocalypse, in which it's scooby doo and the gang in a zombie apocalypse. This is not like actual scooby doo, more for like a 13+ audience. I know it's not quite for adults like most other properties in DBD, but that doesn't matter. looking at the licenced properties, Stranger things (specifically S3) is rated as PG-14, which I feel is close enough.
TLDR: Shaggy should be in DBD because of DC's zombie shenanigans.

I really like the idea of the scooby doo gang in dbd, but it would probably never happen, so instead I want Sidney or Gale, maybe even both like the Stranger Things chapter.

Sorry for late response my DBD forums was ######### and didn't let me view your reply lol.
Also yeah, as someone who is a fan of saw and know a lot of people also fans of saw, we were all ######### pissed when we found out Tapp was the survivor I 100% agree. That's why I put Adam on this list, while still being in the first movie only, he is far more iconic and popular then tapp. The saw series doesn't have that much recurring major characters besides all the main antagonists (John, Amanda and Hoffman) anyway. Tapp was also the protagonist in the Saw game but I wouldn't say that means much tbh lol.
I mean Dwight's lore in the literal first sentence it reads "Dwight was geeky and scrawny through high school". I can't find anything linking dwight with having low grades but even if that was the case I'd argue that the geeky and nerdy archetype doesn't require you to have the high grades and more relies on the scrawny appearance and his hobbies which we don't know enough about dwight.
Tapp, a character who will stop at nothing to uncover the dark secrets would also fit into that investigative archetype. I remember the enviornmentalist being a character in a few horror movies (can't remember any specifically besides Leprechaun Returns.), just someone who cares a ######### ton about the enviornment and get mad over someone smoking or stepping on a flower etc. Eliane from Seinfield would be a good example of this, despite it not being a horror series. Though there are a lot of contradicting archetypes or archetypes that aren't really common in horror movies. Quentin I'd say is also a lone wolf like Jake, Ash while his character was developed, in the first movie he was a final guy, and I can't think of any horror movies where a japanese streetracer, a british streetfighter, a pro gamer, a teacher (as a main character that is) or a gambler are very common. If you were to just lessen Feng's archetype to just a gamer couldn't that be considered a geek as well?
Limiting licensed survivors to archetypes just feels too difficult seeing how many of the iconic characters from other horror movies have similar archetypes. RJ Macready and Tommy Jarvis would be too similar to Ash. Marion Crane (Psycho),Helen Lyle (Candyman), Sidney Presscott, Ellen Riplee (Alien), Kirsty (Hellraiser) would all be too similar to Laurie, that's why it is a cliche.
Sidney could be seen as a girl with a past (her mother dying) that continues to haunt her maybe? It doesn't have to be just about the fact she's a final girl.

Sidney Prescott/ Gale Weathers or Deputy Dewey or Randy (Scream)
That's alright. I only check the forums once every couple of days so I my responses generally come late as well.
That being said I can safely say that the line Dwight be described as "geeky and scrawny" is literally the only line that ever describes him as such, regardless if it's the first line that introduces his lore the quotes that I have in my original response (which describes he has grades that are distinctly below average) also come from the same bio and I don't know how you could have missed it if you read through it all. Unless you only read that first sentence and stopped after that
But the rest of his bio pretty much backs up that Dwight isn't a particularly smart individual, he's not even average in that category. He works a dead-end job, he engages in what is definitely not smart behavior drinking a mysterious moonshine recipe in the woods with his coworkers, he's the laughing stock of the community, etc. Not exactly the resume of someone who would be considered intellectually savvy.
At the same time, you can be described as something without being it. For example Dead By Daylight has stealth elements, you can often find yourself hiding from a hulking, dangerous, or creepy figure in the night. Yet I wouldn't exactly call it a stealth game because of how much time you spend running around and generally being bold (especially in higher ranks). Similarly, you can be described as geeky without actually being a geek, just like how you can be muscular, without being a straight up Jock.
How Dwight is described is exactly the polar opposite of how I would think a geek would be described. In the same bio that both you and I are referencing: "He lacks that certain pizzazz" what I get from this short bit of description is that he's a bland character, there's nothing much about him that really stands out and he really is another face in the crowd in the truest sense. This is backed up a few lines later "As others spent hours being seen in high school. He spent hours becoming invisible"
This is exactly contradictory to what a Geek is supposed to be, Geeks are some of the most eccentric and unique characters in their respective stories, they deliberately stand out as opposed to being invisible because of how they look, they're pastimes and hobbies, etc. As per my previous description, Geeks are much more social characters and are much more comfortable in social settings and though they might be social outcasts to a certain degree, they aren't completely because of their social skills. AKA Even Geeks hang out with other geeks and they have their own crowd, Dwight is literally defined by not being part of any crowd but by being "invisible".
Outside of Dwight though, I'll concede that my perspective, theory, whatever you want to call it about character archetypes might not be perfect. You're right in that there is some overlap across certain characters which is just inevitable, no one person is entirely and completely unique from another and you're bound to cross paths with characters who share similar characteristics when you're creating an amalgamation of horror and you're pulling from stories that exist within the same genre.
That doesn't the goal of striving to incorporate as many unique characters as possible into your story any less noble however. You want to have as many different characters as possible especially in a game because the character you often pick to play most often reflects you or maybe how you want to be in some way. I read a comment from a guy who said he was really excited to play Deathslinger just because he's the only male killer who has long hair like he does.
And I'd like to think Randy represents a lot more people (who are geeks, fans of horror, etc.) than whatever you could come up with for Sidney. I can't say too many people identify with being the obsession of serial killer on a murder spree, and if you do, that's just horrible.. and why would you be playing something like DBD in the first place?
